Interesting. I knew this was coming at some point soon, but this gives more clarity around it, in addition to the date.

They do say, "NBCSN will feature live games across major sports, giving pay-TV customers a way to enjoy much of NBCUniversal’s extensive sports portfolio that also streams on Peacock." (bold is mine for emphasis)

I wonder how much of a gap there is between "much" and "all." Probably not enough to let my Peacock sub lapse, I'm sure.

Would think you would still need Peacock if you wanted to watch all games. Also, this new NBC sports network as of now only has a carry agreement with YoutTubeTV service, while others are expected especially Comcast customers, who knows if your provider will carry.

I do use YouTubeTV, so at least there's that.

I believe the "gap" refers to the fact this channel will not show those sporting events that air on NBC and also stream on Peacock. You'll notice neither Sunday Night Football or Primetime Olympics is referenced. The goal of this channel is to take their streaming-only inventory and put it on linear TV to broadcast to a wider audience. What this means is that most here, eventually (probably next year for non-Xfinity/YTTV subscribers), will be able to ditch their Peacock subscription and watch as part of their cable subscription if they want to.

Also, NBC has to move its sports programming (primarily Premier League soccer) that was being broadcast on the linear USA Network. USA network is one of the cable channels being spun off from NBC Universal, so NBC making that available on NBCSN going forward.

But not sure you can ditch Peacock. While Peacock can show multiple games at the same time since streaming service, NBCSN can only show single game on linear TV.

I couldn't care less about missing Sunday Night Football or any Olympic coverage, but @Hall1996 does raise a good point that NBCSN will only be able to air one thing at a time, whereas there might be (likely is) multiple events streaming on Peacock at once.
