i could see holding them back until the spring game. i also understand unveiling them on their own, as that creates two marketing opportunities (press conference and pictures or whatever) instead of just one (the spring game alone).

i don't understand why they picked next wednesday at 1 pm. i guess you want it to be on a weekday instead of a weekend. if they're doing this at 1 in starkville, they should come to jackson and do the same at 6 or 7. bring a bunch of adidas gear with the new logo and sell it at the MSSHOF around the press conference. sell some stuff, more publicity in the state's major market, another press conference.

hopefully, a sixpacker with skillz will be there, taking pics and posting them immediately for those of us at work and/or out of town.

More MSU news on another weekday. The media gets to cover something that would appear on newscasts at 5, 6, and 10 on Wednesday nights and newspapers Thursday morning.

A 6 or 7 pm news conference wouldn't work as well as a 1 pm conference because it would be too late for two of three newscasts. It would meet newspaper deadlines, but that doesn't give people a lot of time to do a story on it (not that it would take too long anyway).

Like the helmets we're using right now, are they all brand new helmets that we ordered maroon? Or, did we paint the white ones maroon?

Just curious.

the random wednesday means that our "unveiling" will probably get good coverage all over the state, and maybe even other places - who knows.

i was suggesting the jackson presser in addition to the one in starkville. either way, i think this is good timing to generate a buzz around super bulldog weekend. i'm sure the unveiling will also be a chance to say "be sure to come out to the spring game this saturday".

i am so glad we have an AD who understands the importance of marketing.

...whenever possible though. The only times I recall such events occuring have been when coaches have been hired. By comparison, unveriling new uniforms aren't quite as notable and wouldn't attract as many people.

...too bad he is 17ing terrible. Why does Music Makers insist on consistently botching the booking of bands? They had "112" one year (one-hit wonder, sang "Peaches n' Cream) and then Sister Hazel another. LAME.

and he relates to a very large audience, especially with his history with hootie. i don't think this is a botch, and it certainly isn't anywhere near the same level as 112.

but I don't think Music Makers exactly has the money to draw big acts.

Maybe Im wrong, but I just can't see them saying "we have the money to get [insert band you'd like to see] but I think Sister Hazel is a better choice"

again, maybe Im wrong.

recently, which surprised me. I've seen him live, and while I hated Hootie for a while, he's a great live performer. He played Led Zeppelin, Stone Temple Pilots, and even rocked some Walking in Memphis.

His country isn't terrible actually.
