heard he can't pass and is afraid to run.
thats the complete opposite of what NU is looking for, after raiola.
the Michigan qb for 5 million or old dominion qb would be a much wiser choice.

what workhorse lp/rozier type back are we looking at in the portal?

Jonathon smiths system, is a very pro style, under center 12 personnel. It’s a lot of reading the defense pre snap and play action based

I can’t predict the future but maybe Chiles wasn’t a good fit for his system. Maybe the system broke him. Maybe chiles really does suck.

What I believe Chiles would thrive in is a power spread playbook that is simplistic run reads and 2 read play action. What we were running with DR would result in more
Of the same from Chiles, turnovers and deer in headlights. We need to make offense simple and have a QB and RBs that can house it. And play defense well enough to stop mediocre teams running the ball.

No shot at all for the Michigan qb. He is headed to LSU

If the report is true that he’ll be visiting, Rhule must see something in him that impresses him.

It’s not like well our choice of who we want lol. We’ll have to take what’s left and work with it.

The white kid who came in after he got hurt looked better. Felt like there must have been a gentlemens agreement between staff and chiles to start him again, because his play on the field didn't justify it. I don't care if he pays us, I don't want him..so of course Rhule will prolly throw 5mil at him.

it doesn't make any sense to me.. you go after guys that win games.. doesn't have to have a lot of talent, just figures out how to win games.. this kid, loses games over and over again and somehow that is the guy we target? Matt Rhule is a dumb dumb, or flat out sabotaging the program.

Only issue with that is he would be another true Freshman QB walking in the room.

It a no brainer that we need experienced QB competing with Lateef for next season.

..ain't claiming he could start next season right away, but in looking at our QB room right now.... he looks pretty good... and i'd rather have him than any of the rejects being floated right now. Hell i'd rather have Dylan than any name i've heard to date..

IMO if Nebraska gets chiles that will be Rhules tombstone, these coaches need to understand that if a kid is a turnover machine he’s not changing, Simms did ok at ASU but they play in the big 12 you can have your quarterback turn the ball over several times and still win it doesn’t work in the big ten

Maybe a true freshman has what it takes to see the field if needed, or is good enough to start right away. Maybe they don’t. I think Holgerson knows what that looks like. And if a kid has that potential, Thomas should be able to get them ready. But at the end of the day, a kid walking in out of high school is a bit of a bet in terms of whether you’ll be able to get anything out of them that first year.

Honestly, I watched Jeff Sims play about 4-5 games at Georgia Tech and watched Chiles 2-3 times for MSU and thought Sims was much better despite his horrible NU appearances. I hope NU can do a lot better that Chiles.

no shot? why can't rhule just meet with buffet and make it happen? or like tyson, mutual of omaha, first national and kewiet?
(strength thru diversity!)
seems like a no brainer, his training wheels are off and he can pass and run..

Ironically, he looked decent before he was really first exposed by the Good Guys. It was pretty much downhill, from there.

He's TEMU Jamal Lord on his best day

Dear Jamal Lord, China/TEMU, please don't blow up my wifi for tainting your name with this Aiden Chiles association.

Rhule thought Jeff Sims was special too. Special enough to run off Thompson.
The guy who couldn’t play at FAU? Please Sims may have been a bad fit at Nebraska but let’s not act like Thompson was some sort of Heisman candidate.

Agreed, I think Chiles would be just fine if he's coached up. The problem is I don't know if our staff can do that.

We’re basing Chiles after his game against us which was probably his worst game ever. I’d take him over Raiola. Maybe not Lateef but we haven’t seen enough of Lateef to say for sure. Chiles Highlights
I bet all these posts bashing Chiles for his game against us would argue it was just the great pass defense if this conversation was about Sorsby who didn't fair any better against the Blackshirts (13/25 for 69 yds, 1 INT) and he's the top QB in the portal per some. I'm not comparing the two outright because I'd clearly take Sorsby but to point his game against us as the total body of work isn't fair...few QB's had a good day against us this year, at least first half of the year. I do think a more run/RPO base offense would suit him better. Not sure that's us though.

Well, I will say that he played a bit hurt against us. So there is that. But I remember seeing him have a chance to gain yardage on a rollout and throw wild incompletions instead. Sitting there watching at the game, it was like "damn, we got lucky there. He could have ran for a first down" And it seemed like he mostly passed to the sideline-- which drives me crazy if a QB cannot see or process the middle of the field.

I watched him play twice and neither performance was good.

It’s pretty difficult to get excited about the possibility of Chiles but who knows. He might be good

Chiles had a very good QB coach. I don’t believe we would be able to “coach him up” to be a starter. That said, he has some P5 experience and we likely need 2 portal QBs for depth.

He’s somewhat similar to what Holg had with Clayton Tune at Houston. Big difference is that Tank Dell was at WR. Barney is supposed to be that guy but haven’t seen it yet

Thanks for the input. I agree it would be better to have to fire our coach again, and start over again.

NOT.

Rhule is getting canned IMO, just a matter of when. No program is going to take him off our hands, no NFL team is giving him another shot. So the only way he leaves is if he gets canned, and if he goes out and get Chiles, that timeline gets moved up because he'll have been 0-2 in the QB shopping game with a .500 record.

IF he takes Chiles I don’t believe it’s to be the starter. We need bodies.
