The last few weeks have been awful and that’s by Giant standards. Giving away leads like that is brutal. Seems like he had lots of issues.

Who can fix this mess?

They are keeping GM. Don't agree with that
Hopefully its only for now. He has everything to do with this mess. Still paying for his bad drafts and his free agent signings have been bad except for Burns. Hoping they clean house and they just haven't made the decision yet. Schoen stinks.

John Mara jumped the shark over 10 years ago...Mara and Tisch are not iconic sports owners

Excellent analogy.
Crazy thing is that Dabol was coach of the year in his first season with a roster mostly from the previous regime. Schoen & Co. somehow managed to make it worse... even with prime draft positions.

Now they are going to wait until the end of the year to get rid of Schoen & this will leave little to no time for a new GM to put his people in place to prepare for the draft... leaving Mara's brother & his scouting department to screw up a prime pick once again.

Wellington Mara was a horrible owner too. It wasn't until Pete Roselle forced the Mara family to hire George Young to run the franchise that things began to change.

I really don’t get how WFAN hosts and others refer to him as “Mr. Mara.”

His father, that was a different era. But this guy isn‘t much more than a member of the lucky sperm club.
They have won 2 Super Bowls since he’s been running the franchise (Mara). Only about 6 other franchises can say that.

We’ve been down for a while outside season pockets of success like year 1 Daboll. No doubt some major organizational talent infusion or change needs to be made.

But I try not to lose sight that if you are of most ages you are pretty lucky to have the Gmen as your team. 5 SBs with 4 wins, two of which were arguably the greatest upsets of the modern era.

When the Knicks and Hall are some of your other teams, I try to appreciate that level of success.

A little harsh comment re: sperm club (thoughI did lol), but I am not a fan of John Mara. I also have a problem with repeatedly calling all these owners "Mister". Money and wealth imho does not earn you the mister title. He should be afforded the same level of respect as a player, a coach or for that matter a hot dog vendor. I call every male I meet sir and mister unless I'm already friends or related to them.

I don't know of another sports organization that actually refers to their owner as Mr. It's probably because of the ridiculous amount of the Mara family members who are intertwined within every department of the organization & he's the head Mara.

Schoen certainly hasn't made great decisions, should also be gone. Defense is really, really bad, not aggressive always out of position, fundamentally not sound. Not sure Kafka is any kind of an answer.

The Giants need to hire a real coach. Enough of the assistants. Unfortunately If Schoen is still around at seasons end that won’t happen.

Plus at what point does the GM realize he needs to draft a kicker and say so long to the PK and the Punter too.

There's a coach just over 30 miles away from Giants stadium that would fit right in

Oh the Patriots fall all over themselves with "Mr. Kraft". I believe even Brady still does it.

His father was really no better if the league doesn’t make them take George Young the great teams of the 80’s don’t happen.

Heard Bob Papa on the NFL Network/Sirius Radio early this afternoon. He wants Mike McCarthy. He feels they need to have someone with experience and who has a history of winning. His résumé certainly reflects that. The more I think about McCarthy, the more I like it.
* Regular Season = 174-112-2 (.608 winning pct)
* Post Season = 11-11
Coached Rodgers, Favre & Prescott. Can you imagine Rodgers ego & having to coach him? Can you imagine dealing with Jerry Jones yet still had 3 seasons of 12-5 in a row. OK, 1 Super Bowl but at this point but we need a foundation of just winning regular season football games that are meaningful. Plus he knows how to put a top line staff together. I’m not sure the next hot OC or DC is what the Giants need at this point. Been there, done that the last few hires Daboll, Judge, Shurmur, Spagnuolo & McAdoo. Not a great track record for Mara. Coughlin was hired in ‘04. Let that sink in.

Terrible record. Awful collapses because the team is poorly coached. Daboll earned his firing. 11-33 last 2+ season, what do you expect? Team has more talent than 2-8.

Turned out to be another guy who wasn’t cut out to be a good HC.

Keeping Schoen will be a monumental mistake. It may also have an unintended consequence in that certain head coaches won't want the job with him as the GM. What was it that Parcells said - “If they want you to cook the dinner, at least they ought to let you shop for some of the groceries.”

Schoen is a middling GM at best but he's missed way too many draft picks and free agent signings. I would argue Gettleman was as good at Schoen and Gettleman is the one that got Dex and Thomas and Saquon and McKinney. Schoen hit on Dart and a few others but its not enough. He needs to go.

What 1A coaching candidate is going to want to work for a guy who is 20-40-1 in his tenure? Can you imagine Mike Tomlin, who has NEVER had a losing season as a head coach leaving Pittsburgh (as Ian O'Connor suggested this morning as an ideal scenario) reporting to a GM with a .327 winning percentage?

The Giants had a good first season under Daboll and Schoen with mostly Gettleman players.

In their second year up until now, the team has gone 11-33 with Schoen's roster. This is the most damning stat in my opinion. Schoen was allowed to put his imprint on the team and once we played with his players the record is 11-33? Isn't the new GM supposed to improve the team? If the Giants ownership can't see this I don't know what to say anymore.

Maybe that’s the plan. Finish the season with Schoen and give yourself options to interview some coaches that you want that may have a GM preference. Firing the GM also in mid season creates more confusion.

Now this is giving Giants ownership way too much credit, but there is probably another shoe to drop.

Hopefully that is the plan. Schoen has been less than impressive.

It’s irreverent but could it be worse if you give Jameis Winston a game? He’s big and has played for bad teams like this for years and if he’s terrible go back to Wilson, who has also been terrible.

Based on how bad Wilson looked other day, if Dart cannot play hope they go with Winston. Granted really doesn’t matter.

1000% they should start Winston for a few. At least it will be entertaining. Wilson doesn’t want to be there anymore and is thinking about life after football, which I get if I had his career and his life.

With all the Dart concussion stuff, they should shut him down a few games. Err on the side of caution. Don’t let him talk you into playing the kid. Bring him back a bit later in the year when he’s 200% healthy, rested, and the schedule softens.

Wilson can’t play anymore. Look how he operates with turtling up in the pocket. He can’t move anymore, he gives up on plays like old QB’s do. And he does not have a midrange game. Easy to defend. The difference in offense between him and Dart was night and day, and he had Nabers! He can throw a few moon balls and if you’re not going to defend the deep pass like the Cowboys didn’t, but he can’t run the offense

IDK wtf they were thinking with that and keeping him #2. Start Winston. Start holding players accountable. Kafka needs to show he’s a head coach. My guess is they’re all gone - including Schoen - unless they rally a bit. Maybe go like 5-2 down the stretch and make it look like Daboll’s ineptitude.

Agree on Wilson. Put Winston in there until Dart can come back. Good audition for Kafka to see if he can rally the team somehow.

5-2 would be a miracle but that would say a lot about Kafka.

Winston is the obvious choice. Hoping Kafka changes things up and gets the offense going. Gonna be tough with our limited talent at WR. At least we saw something from Slayton last game. He’s been terrible this year. Jameis is fun to watch. He also throws some crazy INTs too but at least he won’t get every other pass blocked like RW.
