You do know that Pelphrey was near the bottom of Arkansas' original list right? And Dana Altman was not their first choice either. Pelphrey had one good season and his Kentucky pedigree before Arkansas. In his second season he had several NCAA secondary violations, the worst was one he was clueless about and rather than checking with compliance (it involved pictures and being able to accept clothing) he just let the players do it. He was a disaster as far as discipline was concerned.<div>patdog said:They hired John Pelphrey, who was considered a hot young mid-major coach and was a Pitino disciple and a favorite of his. Most everyone was talking about what a good hire they had made, even without getting their first choice. The fact is, not many schools get their first choice these days. Mid-majors are not nearly as quick to jump to the next level as they used to be.
</div><div>The reality is we want better than that, and my point is be perared that it may be a few coaches before we find the "right " one, so long as our AD is willing to pull the plugs on "Coaches with potential" we will get the right one in short order, and we may even get the right one the first time.</div><div>
</div><div>All I'm saying is be aware that schools with far more resources and pedigree than us have had bumpy roads, so don't be surprised if ours is too.
