Every recruit that picks a certain school believes it is in his best interest to matriculate to that institution.

You have to respect his decision and I wish him well and just move on.

If you look at Pitt recruits they come from states up and down the eastern seaboard (mostly Rival 3-stars).

Prior to Yasin leaving, Pitt had 2 recruits from NJ now we will have one.

What I ultimately look at is the ability of a coaching staff to develop recruits which are prized NFL Draft Picks.

If you look at recent NFL Draft picks for 2021,2022 and 2023, Pitt has had 14 players Drafted in the NFL, Miami has had 8 , Syracuse has had 4 and Rutgers has had 3.

Pitt suffered its worst season in 25 over years (3-9) so you would expect other schools to exploit the situation.

Yesterday Narduzzi announced the hire of Kade Bell as Pitt's new OC/QB coach which I personally like.

Will Yasin be a future NFL Draft pick, will Kade Bell be an outstanding OC/QB coach, remains to be seen.

HAIL TO PITT!!!!
I watched WCU a few times this year. Not sure a guy Yasin's size matches what Bell does as an OC. He seems to like those 5'8 type guys. Catch balls out of the backfield etc

Al - I think you are confusing questionable game day decision makng as a very young head coach at that point in time with the ability to simply coach. He had already proven his abilty to coach while at Penn State, the Chiacgo Bears then Miami as their defensive coordinator prior to being hired as Rutgers head coach at age 34.
Fran Brown demonstrated his ability to coach defensive backs at National Champion Georgia. Greg only had two years as a Coordinator at Miami. Mario Cristobal
Had zero years as a coordinator, yet makes twice Greg’s salary as Head Coach.

The notion that Fran Brown can’t coach lacks merit, because he’s never been given the opportunity. He’ll have the opportunity over the next 3 to 5 years to grow into the role. As long as he gets the talent and develops it, he Will be successful. He’s off to a great start, gaining commitments from the #1 WR and #1 RB from NJ.

He’s out recruited Greg thus far in NJ?

Syracuse NIL efforts in disarray... Hopefully these recruits get somethnig confirmed in writing before signing their LOIs.

"SU has lagged behind the rest of the Atlantic Coast Conference and the country, officially launching its collective two months ago, Belzer said."

From the Daily Orange.... Show me the money!
Time to get your head out of the sand. Fran Brown hired one of Texas A&M main bagmen to be their defensive coordinator. They’re getting commitments because their alumni are ponying up. Jaylan Hornsby was all Penn State till Texas A&M came with a bag. There’s no way Jaylan Hornsby is going to Syracuse without a bag.

Al, no one with any credible football knowledge ever said Greg Schiano can’t coach. Paterno promoted him to be be Penn State’s head secondary coach at age 25. An age where you were still whacking off to Marcia Brady posters.
‘were still’ ?

Yeah people want to just label him as a DB guy that can recruit. Its lazy. Fran walked into Georgia and immediately got approval from Smart. He changed the way they did things in the secondary. His impact was instantly noticed in the opener against Oregon.

Al, time to tune up your reading comprehension skills. I didn't write the NIL article disparraging Syracuse efforts. It came from the Daily Orange. You continue to lower the value of a Rutgers degree each time you post.

Secondly note the defnition of bagman which you obvously used incorrectly (I hope).... "an agent who collects or distributes the proceeds of illicit activities." Per Al, "Fran Brown hired one of Texas A&M main bagmen to be their defensive coordinator." Really?? That's not a very nice accusation.

Let’s see what happens. Pops turned out better than a heck of a lot of 4 star RBs. Meaningless if you suck in the trenches.
I meant if Fran keeps getting 4 and 5 star recruits in all positions.

Sewercuse is a shitthole city, plays in the carrier clinic bubble and it’s the frozen tundra but if high school players buy what Fran is selling plus if their NIL takes off, Rutgers will definitely feel it

...and if their recruits want to plan in a conference currently deemed irrelevant by the College Football Playoff committee that's their perogative.

Of course. But getting a few position players is one thing. The key to look out for is the linemen and that’s where it’s going to be an uphill battle for Brown in my opinion. Bad programs don’t land 4 and 5 star players for the trenches. At least it’s rare. He’ll have to develop guys there to have success.

Schiano probably doesn’t get enough credit for his work in this area. He may not have a great history developing QBs but he’s top notch at developing defensive players and blockers for the OL. The OL on a whole is much much better than it was when he came in. At the end of the day, Fran will need to be successful developing players otherwise his tenure won’t go well even if he nails it on the recruiting side.

I like the hire also, glad to see Duzz got past his ego of don’t wear out my defense hire for the offense.

Still think Yasin would have been good in his offense.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sorry that Yasin left but I no longer obsess over the decisions of a recruit to leave.

You concentrate on the players who remain committed to your program.

In fact today, Pitt got a recommitment from Rival 4-star Florida DL recruit Sincere Edwards who will remain with the program.

I also believe that Fran Brown interviewed Tiquan Underwood for the Syracuse WR coach position but he will be remaining with Pitt.

Players and coaches leave all the time leave for perceived better opportunities.

Just have to move on.

HAIL TO PITT!!!!

sPitt had a horrible season
You seem like a Syracuse fan. He didn’t flip any Rutgers recruits. The recruits were going to Pittsburgh and Texas A&M, one 4 star and one 3 star.

Cuse is now ranked in the 50’s better than their usual 70’s ranking. Yup, going to make a big difference. They might get out of the basement of the ACC, Now 11th out of 14 teams.

Most of their fans are delusional, they must think we’re in the ACC. Like we care.

Oh Dave, you’re making me dumb it down for you again. Geez.

If Fran continues to get the best players in Jersey to go to Sewercuse , they will get better and at the same time that’s not good for GS.

Fran hasn’t been there that long.

You’re lacking clarity again and not understanding how recruiting affects football programs.

Oh, if Schiano get the 4 and 5 stars recruits in the Northeast, we can be champs.

What a thread.

Syracuse fans, Pitt fans, Maryland fans, penn state fans...it's a giant sinkhole of a-holes.

We really needed a win this past month, and we really really need to win this bowl game.
Even though I'm one of the a-holes, I liked this post (meaning that I agreed with it, not just that I clicked "LIKE"). Merry Christmas to ya...

Well, this board doesn’t have much to talk about, the one word thread is going on for about a year or more. We could talk about grass growing but it’s the winter time.

I think 6-2 (220 pounds) Yasin would have been a good RB in the Pitt offense.

A couple of years ago Pitt recruited a 5-11 (216 pound) Rival 3-star RB from NY.

His name was Israel Abanikanda who went in the 5th round NFL Draft to the NY Jets.

HAIL TO PITT!!!!

You have to respect his decision
Pardon me taking this opportunity to rant a little, but...

We really don't have to respect anybody's decisions. I get that this has become a pop culture thing for kids to say with respect to recruitment or transfers, etc. And that its use has, sadly, spread to non-sports contexts.

But when you think about it, it's kind of a dumb thing for people to say in pretty much any context. What people on social media think about other people's decisions is almost entirely meaningless and irrelevant. I'm not sure why anybody would even GAF about what anybody else thinks about their decisions, unless it's some stakeholder.

And in many, if not most, cases, I'm pretty sure respecting decisions isn't even what the player actually means in the first place. Seems that what many are really trying to say is "and the matter is closed for discussion", which is a hint, in sports, aimed largely at other coaches who were recruiting them that basically says "you can stop recruiting me now, thanks".

So why don't they just say that?

But nope, people still say "respect my decision" prompting without fail one of the many voices in my head to reply "nope, I don't think I will" while doing the inner-voice equivalent of giggling fiendishly.

I could probably repress that voice in my head if I really tried. But you know what? I don't think I will.

Respect my decision.

You shared a dated article which is obsolete. With NIL, what used to be illicit, is no longer so. Again, another obsolete reference. What this proves to me is that you’re a crusty old fool who doesn’t know wtf he’s talking about. I’ll let you wallow in your ignorance. Have a great day.

And btw, no one in my generation found Marcia Brady attractive. Cindy Crawford was more our style.

Really? Seems like mixed results. Georgia passing yards/game , SEC rank
2021 (pre-Fran) 172.2 #1
2022 (Fran) 215.1 #8
2023 (Fran) 177.7 #2- shredded by Alabama, out of CFP

🤷‍♂️

Here's an interesting fact: "Brown becomes the fourth Smart assistant to be hired directly from Georgia's staff to become a head coach, joining Dan Lanning Sam Pittman and Mel Tucker.

Well, as Meat Loaf sang, 1 out of 3 ain't bad.

Time will tell.

Is not winter time in Australia. They have grass in Australia, don't they?

Although I wouldn't be at all surprised to learn that the grass in Australia is trying to kill us, along with so many other things in Australia. Lots of deadly stuff down under, there is.

Maybe we can start a snow blower thread
Can we just discuss snow blowers in this thread since it snows a lot in Syracuse and their football team blows?

- @e5fdny , @koleszar and @knightfan7 -I have not put my snowblower in the "ready" position. Feel like I am tempting fate. I usually have it gassed up and started at least once to make sure it is "ready." Frankly, have spent much of the last week fretting over Syracuse. 😂
