The Devils have not taken many centers in recent drafts because they loaded up right before then. Many of the Devils forwards can also play Center. If the NJD do not end up trading this year's #1, I expect it to be the top center left on the board.

Great goalie game tonight. Grubauer and Blackwood are doing their best Hasek and Brodeur interpretation.

Tarasenko is nowhere near what he was years ago…but who knows what a change of scenery will do. Glad Devils stayed away from him. Should be all in on Timo now.
LOL, and again had a career best year just last season.

I didn’t know the rangers traded for him LAST YEAR.

He’s nowhere near the player he was THIS YEAR. Again, could a change of scenery help? Probably.
I’m hoping it’s the case.
History proves career numbers in all major sports often turn on a dime.

Just admit you didnt realize hes coming off a career year when you said hes not the same player he was years ago

His “awful” season so far this year is still a 60 point scoring pace. Even that is big upgrade from the 30 point guy the Rangers were using in the role he is going to fill.

It's hard to read too much into numbers given how awful STL has been this year. Ryan O'Reilys numbers are catastrophically bad, as are Schenns, Parayko, Krug, etc.

The only guys with impressive metrics are Thomas, and, of course, Buchnevich.

I did know that. And I do know he has ten goals this year and is a minus 18. Some of the worst numbers of his career.

True. He’s certainly an upgrade.

It sucks when part of your evaluation of a trade is, “does this eliminate one of the stupid player deployment decisions our coach constantly makes”?

One of the reasons Ranger fans are mostly happy with this trade is that with sending Blais back, it eliminates TWO stupid Gallant decisions.

Rangers fans should be happy. No doubt.

I just don’t think some realize rangers aren’t getting the Tarasenko in this prime. Still a nice player that should help.

What stat line does he have to put up these final 31 games + playoffs to be a good trade in your eyes (already an incredible trade).

LOL. Cant wait to bump this when he scores at his career pace the rest of the year of of .40 goals per game or 33 per 82 games meaning 12-13 goals to end the regular season here (he’ll pass that as long as GG gives him pp1 over trocheck)

Guys is coming off his career best year yet hes not in his prime haha, youre funny. Unless you define prime as a single season. I define it as 5 and statistically players primes are 27-32, hes 31. Hes in his prime

I believe it’s a good trade. As I’ve said will certainly help the Rangers. How will it be “incredible”?

As a rental which is what he is…I think to be an incredible trade the team that’s renting must advance to the finals. That’s precisely why teams get rentals…to win.

So that’s how I’d judge this trade down the line.

That’s fine as I admittedly said earlier in this thread a “change of scenery” can certainly help. I can see playing with his best friend boosting his stats, no doubt.

Not sure how much St. Louis Blues hickey you’ve watched this season…I can guarantee I’ve watched more than anyone in this thread. So far this season, He’s not the player he once was so. And that’s not debatable,

I commented earlier on Blues but haven't watched them like you have. From stats or analytics standpoint, it seems that everyone has been awful except Thomas and Buch. Is that reflective of watching them?

I LOVE this. Only question I have is why did it take until trading for tank to take trocheck off pp1 only to put chytil there? LOVE LOVE LOVE these lines

I guess it’ll be interesting to see how Krav does with Kreider/Trochek, but that’s a drop to the 4th line for Vesey. I thought he did well with Kreisler/Trochek.

Awful is a bit harsh. But they certainly haven’t been playing up to their potential and I do believe they’re one of the more disappointing teams in the league this year. They are one of the older teams in the league which usually doesn’t bode well in this era of hockey.

Not a big analytics guy at all so can’t comment on what they say vs how they’re performing it should be performing.

So, for tonight’s game-

Leschyszn and Harpur out
Kravstov and Gauthier in
Chytil on the first power play unit.

So, this is what it feels like when you ask someone how they are doing, and they answer “no complaints”!

I just can't wrap my head around why did the chytil move to pp1 happen now? Why not at least a month ago? And we need to get Tank on PP1 asap. Guy has a sick shot and isn't afraid to shoot.

Get me Motte or Bjugstad and then call it a day.

It’s hard to figure.

All I know is that this is the first time I have nothing to complain about with a Ranger lineup since probably before Vigneault was playing Tanner Glass over Buchnevich.

Until Krav has one bad shift and is demoted to 4th line and GG bumps goody up and then we never see krav again. GG hates Krav haha

I think it is possible that Kravstov will get a couple week chance to showcase before he is sent somewhere at the deadline for a bottom 6 forward

The other thing is, if you park Mika in his spot and Tarasenko to the other circle, then the goalie has to defend two nasty shooters.
Less predictable.

Also agree, fine tune the 4th line, and the lineup should be set. (For us, of course Coach will probably want to tinker.)

I'd love to see a PP of Bread hanging behind the net just feeding one times to either mika or tank.

Love the lineup!
Goodrow is guilty of some god awful turnovers when he plays in the top 6 and attempting to be an offensive player.
He’s right where he should be, don’t let the other team score should be his only goal

Ha. Change of scenery and playing with your best friend is definitely a plus!
LOL. But hes not the same player he was years ago. First shot = goal. Within 30 seconds on pp he gets a quality sog and laces a cross ice sauce to kakko who walks in but doesnt score. Set up mika in the slot who didnt finish. We have an elite RW in his prime here
