What would you have preferred? The net is it drops Vecey to the 4th line and gets Leschyshyn out of the lineup a team chemistry positive.
Taresenko has a far better history and I would have hoped my advanced scouts who I’m sure followed Tank for multiple games came away with he’s still got good play left in himWhat would you have preferred?
1) Tank and Kane
or
2) O'Reilly and Kane
I think the Rangers kinda rushed into Tarasenko, like you I've not been impressed with his game so far with the Rangers, of course I'm working from hindsight.
I'm not writing him off at all, the first words out of my mouth when the trade was made were "that's just ******* great". Fact is what he does in the regular season is pretty irrelevant, it's the playoffs that matter.Taresenko has a far better history and I would have hoped my advanced scouts who I’m sure followed Tank for multiple games came away with he’s still got good play left in him
Tank is more impactful better player than O’Reilly.I'm not writing him off at all, the first words out of my mouth when the trade was made were "that's just ****ing great". Fact is what he does in the regular season is pretty irrelevant, it's the playoffs that matter.
But bottom line for me is O'Reilly would have been a better fit, hell, it we fail on the Meier sweepstakes he was my Plan B.
But I don't know if I would have given the Blues the same kind of package for rental.
Not in the playoffs. O'Reilly is about as clutch as you get. And yes I'm using hindsight, but at the same time when Drury was talking to the Blues, I just feel he focused on the wrong player. I keep hearing Rangers fans say they need to get stronger at center, so what happens? They ignore the one center who would have helped and instead went with another forward.Tank is more impactful better player than O’Reilly.
Your using hindsight

I gotta be honest, peeking at who you had at RW before getting Tank, that was some pretty weak ****.Rangers needed right wings not centers

The reasoning for doing it this way was to add more fuel to rivalries by making it so most of the playoff matchups are division rivalries, and I agree with their idea that intense rivalries tend to be born from heated playoff series rather than a few games sprinkled throughout the season. Right now we're looking at a Devils and Rangers first round matchup, with the old format the Devils would be matched up with Tampa and the Rangers with Toronto. They need to just turn the clock back a decade or so. 1-8 and bring the old divisions and structure back. It was so much better when you played your division opponents 6X a year. You had real rivalries and bad blood
Was reading some speculation that we may still possibly be in our kane and can land him if we want.
This dude Steven knows his **** too. Great follow on twitter
Nobody likes Chytil more than me, but I would probably give Tarasenko that spot on PP1 that Chytil is occupying just trying to get him going.Still had to recover in the last minute on a boneheaded mishandle directly in front of the net.
Was fabulous in OT and shoot out.
Tarasenco still MIA…get him going Kyk
Geez. Flip could have had 2 last night.Nobody likes Chytil more than me, but I would probably give Tarasenko that spot on PP1 that Chytil is occupying just trying to get him going.
He is so good right now. Even when he doesn’t score I love that he has such a shooter’s mentality on a team that can pass too much sometimes.Geez. Flip could have had 2 last night.
He plays with great speed to even be in those positions to score

Tonight’s game should be tough on a back to back with Calgary looking for revenge. I just hope Lucic doesn’t hurt anybody with a cheap shot since Blais isn’t around to pay back for embarrassing him last game. Trouba better have his head on a swivel.
I am a Devils fan but IMO it’s the best goal song in Hockey. Now it's 2 points, because it's a power play goal. I prefer the NYR on the road, because after they score I don't have to hear that annoying goal song.
Is Drury a member here?I feel like if you guys add Kane you're basically just adding talent at the maybe the expense of chemistry, I'm not saying the Rangers are set, but if you make another move, maybe the direction of a valuable bottom six player. When teams load up on star players (especially aging ones), it never works out like they hope in the playoffs.
I get it. Looking at some of the other local sports threads, the sniping gets real obnoxious real fast. Trolling is probably the most boring of all messageboard pastimes. So, maybe sending us to opposite corners is worth it there.#devilsownthread

He did score last night but i do mostly agree. He goes long stretches where hes invisible.Heard the same about Kane from impeccable knowledgeable source.
The longer Tarasenko remains invisible the more likely it is to happen.
Mikkula is an enormous upgrade who’s penalties we will have to live with.
I’m worried about Tank Kyk, he’s been playless in every game and gets knocked off his skates way to easy!
But those are all INDIVIDUAL team threads.I get it. Looking at some of the other local sports threads, the sniping gets real obnoxious real fast. Trolling is probably the most boring of all messageboard pastimes. So, maybe sending us to opposite corners is worth it there.
But, I don’t see a need for that for us hockey fans. The vast majority here are true gentlemen. @Ronnie_B , @krup , @robcac26 , @zappaa, @rurichdog and many, many more. These guys can’t be more polar opposites in their fandom, but they all know their stuff, honest as all hell, and any thread would be the worse without all those voices. And we all seem to self regulate pretty well here - the goofballs get called out pretty quick. I like it like this. At our core, we have RU to keep us all together. Plus, EVERY hockey local has felt some pain for their team over the years. We can always commiserate over that, haha.
That said, wait for the playoffs, lol. Might get kinda nasty in a fun way. Ever since PHI/NYI, then NJD, came on the scene, there is NOTHING like few rounds where the locals face off. Add some OT games, and we are all in for a real treat. Hoping at least one more local gets in, it should be a real doozy….

Well, heres the big difference, hes not really getting PP time with nyr. If you actually dive deeper into his stats, granted its only 5 games into his NYR tenure, however if he were to keep this pace itd be the best hes ever been at 5v5 in his entire career. So he is the same player point/goal production wise, in fact hes actually better than hes ever been.Like I said earlier in the thread. He’s not the player he once was.
Still a nice piece for the rangers who have a lot of players who are difference makers.

Please read what I wrote again. This is just not true. He has 32 points, 9 on the PP.
23 5v5 points in more than half the season is no where near his best. Not sure we’re you’re getting your stats
Please read what I wrote again.
His career best was 26 goals at 5v5 (last year 21-22 season). He has 2 5v5 goals in 5 games with the rangers. Which is on pace for the best of his career. But again, as I said, its super early, hes 5 games into a new team, new system, no preseason, still getting adjusted etc.I believe his season best was 60 5v5 points. Certainly not on track for that

Further, the better stat to make it even is per 60, in which again he is actually pacing for the best of his career in his FIVE games with the rangers. Again, its too early and too small a sample size so we shall see. If he was getting PP time on PP1 her be playing ppg imo
Fyi, only two seasons in tanks career did he post more than 45 points 5v5.Still not true. 3 5v5 points in 5 games with the rangers. That’s about a 45 5v5 pace per 82 games.
Certainly not his best. I may be misunderstanding

Currently, again just FIVE (so too small a sample size) games into his NYR tenure he is pacing for the most goals he will have ever scored 5v5 per game in his career
