Lindy's presser says it all, we are tired. They were lethargic in the morning skate. The Devils have been playing a lot of hockey. Rest is a weapon.

Not sure when they can rest so they better figure out ways to have energy

Why play Marino when he’s sick ?
No faith in Bahl??

Keep standing pat Fitzgerald.

Losing at home to you lowly Montreal.

What an embarrassment!!

Team is going nowhere the way it’s constructed

Report out today that Sharks want Mercer as part of the deal. Good for Fitz..that should be a non-starter.

He's trying to do something to improve the team but isn't gonna make a stupid deal.

Link?

Mercer is a keeper.

SJ won’t get a player at his level from any team.

Speculation of course from a high school reporter’s source, but Fitz has to be more like Drury and convince SJ that a 1st rounder and a 4th line bum will suffice

It worked for Tarasenko

For Meier, a 1st, #17 and Holtz

Tarasenko, a rental, and Meier, who has another year of team control, are unfortunately not going to fetch the same return. Everyone knows this.

If this is all Fitz is offering, no wonder Grier is waiting.

Meh, the Stadium Series is overkill for me. I think one outdoor game a year--the Winter Classic--is fine. Beyond that, the novelty has worn off.
Me too.
I went to the 2014 game at Yankee Stadium, despite freezing my *** off I had a blast. The atmosphere for these games can't be felt on TV.
Do it again, at MetLife and on NYD. And that's it.

Do you?

That’s why my suggested offer , much stronger than what nyr gave up for a rental, should suffice.

What’s your offer if you’re TF?

So I went to Devils - Canadiens game tonight and though the game sucked, one thought came to mind…..

What happened to all of the great French Canadian players?

I go back to Gilbert Perrault / Guy Laflueur / Mike Bossy / Mario Lemieux / Guy Lapointe / Ray Bourque / Patrick Roy / Jean Ratelle / Rod Gilbert / Denis Savard / Marcel Dionne / Yvan Cournyer / Marty Brodeur ( thanks Proud) etc.

Now it seems like the league is void of great French Canadien players.

What happened to French Canadian hockey and its great stars?

It's not going to suffice. Meier is a much better player, with another year of control.

A top-6 forward that can score, a 7th overall pick that had a PPG in Utica and a 1st round pick won’t suffice?

The rags gave up a bum with 0 goals , a 1st round pick and a low level ECHL prospect for Tarasenko , a rental

My suggested offer is MUCH stronger because Meier isn’t a rental.

You’re just not concentrating

My offer would obviously be a 1st...Mukhamadullin or Ohohtyuk, Holtz, and a later pick? Throw in Johansson to help with cap relief...and ask for a later pick in return.

So Meier and 5th....

For Mukhamduullin, Holtz, a 1st, a 3rd, and Johansson.

Left off Martin Brodeur & Claude Lemieux

Granted, i didn't see that you had Sharangovich in your offer. Thought the #17 in your offer was the draft pick. LOL. So fine...its a bit better than I thought. haha.

I stil don't think Fitz is going to trade a roster piece. Don't see Yegor going anywhere.

I’d do it in a heartbeat with no regrets if we got Meier extended.

*I’d rather keep Holtz and include the overhyped lanky Russian

Their goalie was once the goalie of the future for Florida .

He was pretty good but Devils shot a lot of pucks into him and were careless and foolish with the puck too much.

Smith is horrendously bad out there and Tatar does nothing positive night after night

Team loss tonight, they thought they could just show up and win.
It happens. If you have not, watch the post game interview with Lindy Ruff. I don't care who Montobaum is 😆, the Devils are tired, with some illness going around. They thought they could go through the motions and win, they thought wrong. It happens.

If Fitz finds a good trade, their second wind should kick in. If Tartar Sauce gets hot, or warm again, no one will be complaining about him as a middle 6 forward. Smith is fine as a 3rd pair defenseman, and a good locker room guy. The sky is not falling.

I think some of the young Devils have hit the wall. Tom Fitzgerald can help this by making a good trade. Others are tired and/or sick. This is why I wasn't happy with all the extra over time hockey, it adds up.

Good question on Marino, he played, if the player plays, I don't want to hear it personally. I can't answer it, but it probably does have to do with little faith in Bahl. I can't figure out Ruff sometimes, it is like him putting Holtz in the doghouse, and making him a healthy scratch for most of the year, instead of letting him play in Utica until recently.

This NJD regime boggles my mind sometimes.

You need to stop comparing a potential Meier deal to what the Rangers did with Tarasenko.

It isn’t just that Tarasenko is a rental while Meier has another year of team control.

Tarasenko had a no trade clause in his contract that let him control where he went and limited the bidders for him, while Meier’s contract does not have trade protection and there are at least four teams (probably more since Vegas just freed up a bunch of money) trying hard to get him.

Bahl just ain’t very good.
Currently no, however I don't want to make an NYI Zdeno Chara like mistake. I'm not saying Bahl will ever be elite, but he could end up being very good in time. Defensemen take longer. Hulking defensemen, take even longer than that.

For trades, the Devils have other prospects I would rather give up, like say Riley Walsh.

With Meier off the table for NJD since they don’t meet SJ’s demands, who’s a forward that they can acquire now to play with 86?

Sadly IMO, all signs point to Domi. It would not surprise me if Fitz doubled up and also made a Henrique trade. Time will tell, but it may be a blessing in disguise, even though it doesn't seem like it now. Screw Grier, he can't get Dawson.

Eliot Friedman mentioned a name today that as a Ranger fan I would hate because I think he would be a nice fit for the Devils - Nino Neidereiter. Physical LW, one more year at 4mil.

Our GM must hold firm, and not get sucked into giving up a player we want to keep.

Since everything with the Devils gets leaked to the media, I will take the Nino news as the Devils moving on to plan B.

You keep bringing up how little you think the Rangers paid for Tarasenko in these Meier discussions. I know whoever gets Meier is going to pay a lot more, the Tarasenko deal is not at all relevant.

Could also be a leak by the Devils to force Sharks into urgency. Who knows?

Devils are certainly not out of the Meier sweepstakes. That’s for sure.

Some rumors out there that Kane only wants to go to the Rangers and that there is still some interest. I hope the Rangers don’t f**k this up like the Marty St Louis deal (getting MSL was a good move, paying a ton for a guy who publicly stated he would only go to your team is idiotic).
