Rumson vs TR North is an interesting game that has no business being played----Group 2 vs Group 5 ? WTF

That's the equivalent of Cedar Grove playing Montclair for the North Jersey guys.
Agreed. I know @bori_blanco says TRN doesnt pull kids from other districts but every coach ive talked to down that way says TRN has kids from out of district is as well.

Cedar Grove/ Montclair would actually be an interesting matchup as well. Not as good as the RFH/ TRN since Rumson is one of the best Group 2 schools in the state who plays a big school schedule down the shore. Hell of a record last 10 years. Plus they score the most points vs TRN last season.

CG airs it out, fun to watch. They have a shot to win group 1 this year imo.

My early season picks for North Champs (idk south that well)

Group 1:
Shabazz (however my buddy who coaches at CG says weequhaic is stacked this year)

Group 2:
Westwood

Group 3
Old Tappan

Group 4
Northern Highlands

Group 5
dont know enough about group 5

My alamater, a power in 98 and 99
The 98 undefeated team was a powerhouse
99 repeated beating PWay again in the ship, but got tripped up with injuries in the last regular season game to prevent back to back undefeated seasons
I went to Franklin, so I’m used to seeing Pway. They were our TDay game when I was young.

I‘m coaching Central Youth now, and the local guys bring up the glory days all the time, lol.

Rumson plays bigger group schools plenty of times, you are way off base. I believe it will be a great game and I know the Schulte family from my days playing Pop Warner in Keansburg. The other reason as you probably are aware TDN has the most dynamic player in the state plus several D1 players along both lines, just saying.

The kid committed to PSU is either lazy or out of shape. Didnt like he had any interest in being out there vs millville

I hope you're right-----I don't see it.

I don't believe they played TRN last year.

Since 2011:
9-3
12-1
7-1
8-4
6-4
5-5
5-5
9-3
3-7
8-3
10-2
10-2

There’s been some pretty dam good G1 programs who will compete, if not beat the 4s and 5s year to year.

Not sure what that means. I assume that represents the group size break down of the schedule. Which is what I stated above. Tough to play against teams of similar size in conference when the conference members complain. Play golf with a bunch of old timer football coaches (one who recently coached at Rumson) and AD's. Many from shore conference. It has been tough for Rumson, Wall and Manasquan to even get scrimmages from teams unless they go up 2 sometimes 3 group sizes.

I am extremely familiar with the Toms River North team. They really don't recruit. Instead, they just had a very fortunate 2 year class which has 2 legit high D1 players, a lot of very good players a notch below D1, an absolute ton of size, good health, and (last year) having a soft regular season schedule. Now, has a kid from Manchester suddenly moved to town or a kid from East enrolled (legitimately) in the North academy program - yes - but this has been very minimal. Actually, I expected every good player at the Shore to suddenly "move" here before the season started, but that did not happen. The team should actually be even better and bigger but they lost the son of a Rutgers legacy (Jake Guarnera) who moved to Florida and is currently a Michigan commit.

I am curious to see how they do against the harder schedule this year. Last year's slate was an absolute joke. Would not be surprised to see them get picked off once or twice during the regular season.

Don’t mean to jump ahead to next week before this Saturdays games are played out. But there’s going to be an great early season that most here wouldn’t know/care about as 3-0 Mainland, who has romped through their first three games in their shotgun wing T, will play 3-0 Atlantic City, who has been enjoying their resurgence last couple of seasons behind that WR Sahnye Degraffenreidt. Should be a good game down there.

They were stacked
Both the 98 and 99 classes were deep and talented
98 only lost 2 guys from middle school to Lata that would have contributed
The 99 loss to WWP in the regular season finale was a tough one, but they bounced back quickly and trounced them the following week
Had a scare against Hillsborough at Rutgers in the playoffs, but other than that, were utterly dominant

BTW, what school is the head coach up in Sussex County who walks around everywhere barefooted?

Rumson got the game to 28-21 in the early 3rd quarter, but Ford is just too much. Incredibles talent, I know there's talk he'll play DB at the next level, but I believe he HAS to play offense somewhere. Great crowd, and yes, TRN will put these numbers up in most of this year's tougher schedule compared to last season's weaker one.

He could definitely be a very good P5 RB.

I’m still shocked that I have to argue this with others because they still say that he’s not that good of a HS QB to play college, which I’m like 🤦🏻‍♂️.

They got hanover park madison streaming right now. 21-14 HP up at half. Madisons 2 Td’s came on an int and a fumble they took back to within the 5. HP dominating. Im here

He was on an upward trajectory as a Qb, but his throwing seems to have plateaued.

Also factor in his massive line/protection and 2 really good receivers.

I’d certainly give him a shot as a P5 qb, but Micah’s ultimate position is very likely elsewhere.

Chaminade made a statement. Beat NJ’s best 61-21.
And if we consider Chaminade Madonna a good football team just watch Mater Dei again this season . Quite funny to look at that roster and wonder what money can buy . Will try and catch Kahuku Hawaii vs Mater Dei today.
