Just watched the game.

The US corrected most of the fundamental mistakes they were making in the past two games on D. That had an obvious positive impact on both attacking and defending.

Good game defensively. Okay, if a bit inconsistent, on O.

Created good opportunities but some poor finishing did them in, ultimately, including on their penalties.

Love watching the haters uselessly vent their spleens. Some things never change. 🤣

Does the most talented team always win the World Series or Stanley Cup? How about when those teams lack senior leadership or have a crappy manager?
You can still marvel at the gifted players.
In 1985, Don Mattingly was a marvel to watch…like seeing Stan Musical reincarnated.
Watching Crosby or McDavid is eye opening.
Watching Ray Rice run.
I don’t see it

They scored 1 goal in three games, they were awful

Rapinoe is focused on her. That’s it. Horrible teammate.
Not quite it, horrible public figure way past being competent at this level being put in the game for what purpose. Carli had to in essence publicly beg to get in the games last WC and she was still one of the best on the team at that time. No such necessity for this clown who couldn't trap a cross, reach the near post on multiple corners and chipped a penalty over the goal instead of taking a real shot.

I agree. Even though I like Horan, this team has no finishers. There are great getting close to the goal and on defense, but that’s it. The team is lacking on set plays as well.

Uselessly? I think we got exactly what we wanted from this collection of followers that didn't have a collective soul to stick up for the name on the front of the jersey, afraid of a very outspoken hater of the very country she was suppose to lead. They got what they deserved and my spleen is very much intact because of it, thank you very much.

When you promo commercials about the team stating "How do you beat the USWNT" and acting like it is an impossible feat you should advance past the final 16.

That commercial was very arrogant and it bit them in the keister. Drove me crazy.

We played 1.5 games of great soccer and many players shined. A lot of things occur that a once every few year soccer fan doesn’t see. It’s ok, to be disappointed, hate the lack of leadership, poor coaching, and at times lack of effort and still admit they are the most talented team in the world. Even without Pugh and horrible subbing

Nobody is saying they shouldn’t have advanced. To me anything less than a final 4 was a colossal failure. Even a final four and out would be a huge failure in my eyes

So awesome to see these people lose…I frankly don’t care about soccer, actual men or actual women soccer, but given the rancid history of the pink and purple hair brigade, glad to see them gone.

Maybe they can visit the vile menapausals on the view or kackles and enjoy one of her word salads…

If they get invited to the WH for some virtue signaling, watch out for senile diaper bags…he may sniff em! 🤮🤢

Yes, uselessly. All of our opinions expressed in this thread are useless and accomplish nothing.

I just happen to find it pretty funny when people, who are sitting on their asses at home, angrily judge athletes who have worked incredibly hard to get where they are and are giving their all for their team. And for to say “yeah, but I’m right” is even more deliciously hilarious.

Want a gold star for having an opinion and thinking you’re right? 🤣

Yes, please. Would you like me to give you a silver star for 2nd? PS. Thinking she was wrong is different than thinking I'm right. It wasn't about me, it was about being happy as a pig in 💩they lost and she screwed the pooch on the PK. She never was playing for her team, she was playing for her agenda and if you can't see that, then there lies the problem.

Agree. They could have the most talented roster and correct all the mistakes they made in earlier games. This team lost before they even took the field. This team had no leadership. And lacked the pride of their predecessors. They thought they could lace it up and win. That came from the top down.

No those didn't. There were more on those teams that show pride for the USA, and leadership that wouldn't allow one hateful over the hill player set the narrative for the entire team. Did you see this collective outrage from as many as you see now during those years? Of course not.

They sucked. If they weren't the queen of grievance they wouldn't have been on the team.

What a terrible performance by Rappinoe, nice corner into the side of the net, a complete blow on her PK to seal the "deal". If she was injured why was she on the field and by extension why taking up a roster spot.

She wasn’t injured. She’s old and sucks. I can the announcer commented how she barely gets playing Time in her pro team anymore

She had been injured. She picked up a calf injury on June 10, which was the last NWSL game in which she appeared. At the time, it was projected she would miss a couple of weeks. That took them to training camp. That was the reason why she hadn't been playing much.

Her club team OL Reign has played 15 matches. Rapinoe has played in 9 of them, 7 as a starter, 2 as a sub. Considering her injury, and her time on national team duty including friendlies, this seems about right.

Interesting?
I don’t doubt they’re all worthy of playing at the highest level.
Best in the world, offensive difference makers… didn’t see it, we can’t score goals.
Kind of like the Men’s team

Absolute poison in the locker room. And if you have listened to recent retirees they have been saying it for years.
Just for ***** and giggles, I googled "What Megan Rapinoe's teammates think about her". I found ONE strong criticism - from Hope Solo, who was not exactly Ms. Congeniality in the locker room herself. I also found mild criticism from Carli Lloyd, who said that while she respects and supports Rapinoe, she found her protests distracting.

This was more than offset by a ton of positive comments from both her USWNT teammates and her club teammates.

FWIW, I found a statistical analysis of the team's offensive performance. Some stat nerd analyzed the 60 shots the team took over the four games, that rendered four goals. He then ran about a zillion computer simulations to determine how many "Expected Goals" should have been produced.

The most frequent result was nine. The statistical likelihood of four was < 2%. So you could say the US demise was just plain bad luck.

There is of course an obvious flaw in this methodology. It doesn't take the quality of finishing into account. You could just as easily say the problem wasn't bad luck, it was bad finishing.

My guess is that it was a combination of both, and things may not be as bleak as they seem. Remember the US was without arguably its best goal scorer and its best playmaker.

Quote from article.Alex Morgan, Julie Ertz and Lindsey Horan were the only three players who were singing the 'Star Spangled Banner' before the Portugal game. The rest are an embarrassment to the country.https://www.goal.com/en-us/news/meg...-anthem-at-2023-world-cup/blt306077483bf0e057
So, singing the anthem is now required in your opinion? And if they don't sing would you advocate killing them, like our friend toby, or maybe just beating the crap out of them and kicking them off the team?

Every one of those players worked their asses off and loved playing for the USA, as they've all said, even if they didn't conform to your patriotism test - if you watched all the post-game interviews, every one of them was devastated and in tears or close to it (including Rapinoe). It's actually possible to love this country and still think this country can do better, especially with regard to racial and gender inequities. Where was all your outrage (and the outrage from the rest of the CE troglodytes) in 2015 and 2019?

IMO, we're out because we had a lousy coach, who didn't put the team in the best position to win and the rest of the world is catching up (but even with that, we dominated Sweden today and would've likely won except for an amazing performance by their keeper). And yes, we probably should've sat Rapinoe if she wasn't 100%, but not having one of the best players in the world on the team, even if only as a sub, would've been crazy, just like we had Carli play mostly as a sub in 2019 at a similar age to Rapinoe this year. Yes, the same Carli Lloyd who had this to say about Rapinoe in 2019:

"I was super happy for my teammates and happy for Megan (Rapinoe), who put the team on her back, and for several other players," Lloyd said. "It was great to see, and I'm happy that I could still have been a part of it."

Do you really think the "avg" player (obviously not literally but in regards to rest of team) is going to open up rip her apart publically? Why do you think the two who have spoken publicly about her negatively are huge players?

You're like a wind-up toy. You're so hilariously wound up about the players. Think about it.

You've never met any of them. They don't even know you exist and never will. Yet you keep trying to tell us how you know all about them. You really can't see the humor in that?

Yea not sure what is said would show up in google searches. It’s more of what is not said, about distractions in the locker room. A women’s team legend lives down the street from me. Knight shift and e5 know who I am talking about. Let’s just say her teammates past and present do not respect her or her agenda.
