Four goals in four games shows how ineffective the USA offense was during the tournament. The lack of difference makers was obvious and its time to change the coaching staff and the roster.

I have been anti Neaher for years but I have to give credit she played very well today.
Agree somewhat, but on one of those set pieces she could've easily been called for a foul/PK, as she went through the Swedish player and never touched the ball.

If you can't reach the goal wouldn't that eliminate you from taking corner kicks? I'm not a big soccer guy but why was Rapinoe taking them?
Supposedly she serves a great ball.. but not THIS Rapinoe.. that's some younger version of Megan rapinoe... but that shorter ball was the plan... the first 2 corners she took were crap though... Rapino sucked this WC and Morgan wasn't much above "suck" level. Were they on the team because of sponsors?

When the #1 team in the world struggles to make it out of the group and then loses in the first round, it's time to clean house, starting with the coach.
I suspect Vlatko is gone.

A chance for Olympic redemption in one year, with a smaller and no doubt younger roster.

Figured you'd go there. Waiting for the CE bat signal to go up, so all the trolls can trash the team in this thread. Incoming.
She had a very successful career. Iconic serve to Wamback. She should have never even been on this roster. Step aside. She deserves plenty of blame for being on the roster. She knows her power in the association.

Agree on Rapinoe and O'Hara, but not Morgan - Morgan played well tonight.
She did better than in the group play, that's true. But so did the whole team. I think the whole team made her look a bit better.. but she is supposed to score or at least put shots on frame. Maybe she should have been a sub and Rapino should have been in the stands.

Team played a helluva game though. Nothing really to complain about on a team level.

Was certainly our best play of the tourney, as we dominated possession and had, by far, the best chances, but Musovic was the star of the game, keeping the US out of the goal with several superlative saves.

I haven't followed closely but it seemed odd we'd have Rapinoe as a bit player/late substitute. Better to give that spot to an up and comer generally - less distracting. When I heard she was on the roster in this sort of role I assumed the coach was a lightweight.

I can agree with that. Morgan off the bench, fresh, with her speed, might've been the way to go, although she did almost score on a header and have a great sharp angle shot on frame near the end and she had some great runs where she got the ball and played it to other open players, who didn't finish well.

Until Rodman and eventually Morgan were subbed out. Bizarre stuff
Rodman wasn't 100%, so I get her being subbed for, especially since Williams played great after coming on for her, and Morgan is older, so I get her being subbed for near the end of regulation, but yeah Rapinoe didn't come through. Would've liked to see Rodman and Williams on at the same time, as their speed can be a difference maker.

They said Rodman was playing sick.. so I get that.. she seemed "spent" before she subbed out. But I cannot help think how nice it would be to see Williams and Rodman out there together. Sofia Smith.. you can see the skill she has.. but it did not amount to much this game.. and that PK try.. sheesh. Maybe Mogan should move to a different position.. just think her striker days are over.. as a starter at least.

Geez.. I responded to that at the same time with just about the same content. Guess I saw things pretty much the same.

Still think that save was good... don't think the whole ball was inside the pipes. m Mehhh... just saw the side view.. just a tiny variation in where teh camera is placed could make it look like a goal.. and I can see an argument either way.. so, why not Swedene win.. still wish they went to golden goal instead.

She belonged on the roster specifically for situations like this. Didn't work out. **** happens.
I disagree with this. As an example - if I was the HC of Portugal next world cup, CR7 is nowhere near my roster as a late subsitute/cameo guy. Too distracting for too little gain in too unfamiliar a role.

Sorry, but this is part of the issue. Is the knockout round of the World Cup. You know who doesn’t need to come out when not 100% at this round? Mia Hamm, Carli Lloyd, Abby Wambach, and just about every woman who built the foundation of the program.

She hasn’t been a competitive player in about two years. There is no reason she belonged in the roster.

She had no more business being on this roster than an aging Willie Mays did on the 73 Mets….it was sad to watch what little remained of all that greatness

The entire roster was a mess starting with players like Rapinoe. There are far more talented players available in the US but politics, marketing, favoritism, etc. continue to prevail. The US PK misses were so poorly struck and misplaced - it’s inconceivable that they didn’t even challenge the goalie and hit an outside post and shot two into outer space. Everyone in US Women Soccer should be fired starting with ID and Development.

All over the hill aging players who don’t know when to retire prove it themselves and everyone watching under game conditions unfortunately.
They know when to retire but won’t…Google doesn’t pay Rapinoe millions of dollars to film a Pixel commercial unless she’s on the roster and relevant. These players are doing it for the money and sponsorships and that’s exactly why they are going home with the earliest exit in US history. That roster should be reloaded with young, hungry, skilled players.

Wonder if that was where the anger from Lloyd came from. Just a guess.

And here I thought that was a public service message done for free😊
