I have watched 1 and 1/2 episodes. A lot of it - if not all - is shot in Atlanta, so I was really curious about it. The filming has interrupted my driving a couple of times. Perhaps 1.5 episodes is not a fair sample, but here are my thoughts:
1. The actors are awful. I am not a theater aficionado, and I cannot even explain what it takes to be a good actor, but these people stand out as particular bad actors who are just reciting lines. Their fake Southern accents suck, too.
2. The writing is hokey. I can't believe how cliched some of the dialogue is.
3. The makeup and special effects are terrible. I will give them a bit of a pass, as it is obviously a low budget affair, but I saw better zombies asking for candy at my door last night.
4. The show looks even worse in HD. I don't think they shot it in HD.
5. They drag everything out needlessly. I watched the first episode of season 2, where they were all hiding under cars while a herd of zombies shuffled by. That scene took forever, and accomplished nothing. I suppose it was a bit suspenseful, but I eventually just fast forwarded through it. They would have been better off with 30 minute episodes.
6. There is no originality. I cannot find anything new in this that justifies making a TV series as opposed to a movie. Just move the story along, please.
7. How could they make this a series, while CBS passed on making a series out of Zombieland? THAT would have been a great TV series.
