Sunday night just has too many great tv offerings. Dexter, Boardwalk Empire, The Walking Dead, football...

I usually have to catch up with Walking Dead on Monday. I have really been impressed with the show thus far. Definitely more than just a zombie show. Yes it's about survival, but it also has lots of great story lines and it has kept me interested thus far. I am interested to see how the writers move the show forward and keep it fresh. I also want to find out if the guy and his son from the first episode are alive.

On another note, the western series that is coming to AMC has potential greatness factor too.

I just watched last nights episode. All I can say is damn. This season is much better than the 1st so far.

I agree on the busy Sunday night. Football, Walking Dead, Dexter, and Homeland.

I've gotten caught up in the why do they do this? Last night's episode: Why leave 1 of the 2 crossbow bolts hanging up in the tree? Why drive the old motorhome when you could just take a brand new one? I guess power is no problem at the farm.</p>

Zombies rock anyway... but this series does the best job of bringing the human stories without coming off as judging society for consumerism or overpopulation or some other stupid crap.

After watching the first season, I went and read all of the books which are even better than the show. Last night's show was shocking to say the least. That was definitely not in the books.

I mean, if she was dead, certainly they would have found her by now. Just can't see them stringing that storyline out this long for her to just be found dead. Of course I didn't see last night's twist coming......

The girl never went missing in the book so I don't know where they are headed with that.

has me hooked. Stumbled on it a few weeks ago when they ran a marathon all day on Sunday before the season premier later that night. Got to watching and couldn't leave the tv all afternoon.

Technically they are living dead so I think they stopped rotting when they got re-animated. That is just my theory anyway.

where they tried to explain in some way exactly what happened, did they? Just a virus spread, and whammo, zombies everywhere. Couple weeks later, almost nobody left. Is that pretty much it?

I do wish they would go a little further in explaining how it all went down. I had hopes the CDC guy would do that, but that dude had already mailed it in a while back.

I'm still wondering what the CDC scientist whispered to the main guy right before he ran out and the whole CDC blew to hell. The main sheriff guy brought it up once after that but didn't expound on what he was told and they haven't mentioned it since.

was that either the sister was infected (time has proven that to not be true) or that his wife was pregnant. I guess that could possibly still be true.

it showed a tryst in the woods right before Shane made it to the camp....and Season 2 starts only 2-3 days after Season 1 ends in their timeline.

zombies. I generally like my zombie shows to include, well, more zombies. I want more zombies, more killing, and fewer conversations about everyone's feelings. It's a bit too much like a soap opera with stupid, stereotypical characters--racist southerners, the awful fundamentalist who beats his wife, the good Latino gang who only want to care for the elderly (how sweet of them), etc. And too many implausible scenarios--sure, let the little kid walk away from you to go touch a buck..it's not like zombies are around. I know.. zombies are implausible to begin with but did anyone really think the fat dude wasn't gonna become a buffet. I guess I'm in the minority here but I had so much hope after the first episode last season. I'll probably still watch and maybe it will get better, but I'm kind of losing interest. I already miss Breaking Bad.

Boardwalk and Walking Dead have been great, but Dexter has been a huge disappointment so far. Homeland has me hooked though. Of all of the shows on right now, it is the one I look forward to the most.

this storyline with mini tom hanks is just stupid. i'm pretty sure the guy telling him to do everything isn't real. if you've paid attention when they are in public settings no one ever acknowledges him even being there. boardwalk empire is a different story. this season is awesome. it could surpass BrBa as my favorite show if it keeps it up.

If this was the type of show you claim to want, it would be over in one season or less because everyone would be dead. The show is perfect as is. It's a drama with zombies as the main plot movement.

I have watched 1 and 1/2 episodes. A lot of it - if not all - is shot in Atlanta, so I was really curious about it. The filming has interrupted my driving a couple of times. Perhaps 1.5 episodes is not a fair sample, but here are my thoughts:

1. The actors are awful. I am not a theater aficionado, and I cannot even explain what it takes to be a good actor, but these people stand out as particular bad actors who are just reciting lines. Their fake Southern accents suck, too.

2. The writing is hokey. I can't believe how cliched some of the dialogue is.

3. The makeup and special effects are terrible. I will give them a bit of a pass, as it is obviously a low budget affair, but I saw better zombies asking for candy at my door last night.

4. The show looks even worse in HD. I don't think they shot it in HD.

5. They drag everything out needlessly. I watched the first episode of season 2, where they were all hiding under cars while a herd of zombies shuffled by. That scene took forever, and accomplished nothing. I suppose it was a bit suspenseful, but I eventually just fast forwarded through it. They would have been better off with 30 minute episodes.

6. There is no originality. I cannot find anything new in this that justifies making a TV series as opposed to a movie. Just move the story along, please.

7. How could they make this a series, while CBS passed on making a series out of Zombieland? THAT would have been a great TV series.

because networks play to the lowest common denominator, which is to fans of reality tv, talent shows, CSI/law & order, and big bang theory/two and a half men type crap.<div>
</div><div>the premium and cable networks are the ones making quality tv now.</div>

My suggestion is to go back and watch it from the beginning if you have only watched these first two episodes.

The network chose The Walking Dead for a TV show because it is an extremely popular ongoing graphic novel with a built in fanbase. Zombieland was a great movie but it would wear pretty thin as a weekly series because a guy can only find so many Twinkies and too much zombie killing can actually get old. The Walking Dead has a ton of story lines to keep you hooked and does not rely solely on blowing the heads off of zombies.

Dang Sombitch hung himself, did not die, and the the other Zombies ate all of the flesh off of his legs.
Took whats his face finally shooting him in the head with an arrow.

I think their life expectancy is underrated.
Do we have real life(or death) example to work from?

It's almost comical how terrible the acting is. The guy that plays the redneck might be the best actor out of the bunch and that speaks volumes about how terrible the acting is with that being the case.

Fortunately, I watch it for the zombies and soap opera-like plot lines. Plus, there's really not a lot else to watch these days...

Total badass with the best weapon (crossbow), has the drugs, good in a crisis, drives a motorcycle on zombie infested highways (what?), and usually the most level headed of the bunch.

Now, if they end up finding his crazy one-handed angry racist brother somewhere, watch out. He'll go right back to being a total dick.

I kept hearing all the rave reviews for Mad Men so I tried to watch it three separate times. Each time, I either fell asleep or said 17 it and turned to something else because I found it to be painfully boring. My wife among others tell me that if I don't go back and watch from the start, then I don't understand all the subtle plot progression that is going on. In other words, things are apparently happening but I just don't realize it.

I think that Walking Dead is similar and I'm actually a huge fan of it, but I can see why you may not find it all that great if you missed the first season. While the story is progressing, you may not realize it if you don't understand all the background stories.

perhaps they'll let Michael Bay direct an episode of the Walking Dead to make people like you who say they drag out stuff too much happy.

I wish you luck.

uh yeah, if you haven't watched mad men from the start, it's pointless. these shows aren't meant to be isolated compartmentalized 1 hour blocks that you can pick up and watch and enjoy without knowing the total story, they are meant to be watched from the beginning with you slowly growing more attached to characters and understanding their motivations and where they come from. it's what makes these shows great.
