Chris Cornell at State Theater (2000, I think) was an awesome hometown one. Buddy was on the waiting list and got tix morning of.

We saw Sound Garden a decade later down in Camden - not in their prime, of course, but glad I got too see them.

Did I say it was the best concert? Yes, I did. Because they had 2 relatively unknown opening acts that happened to go by the names of Journey and AC/DC.

Wow, very cool...AC/DC is my fav...Seen them many times...Loved the Scoprions concert in the late 80s as well

Believe it or not, Lionel Richie puts on a phenomenal show, even Still.
Green Day, Linkin Park, STP, and Metallica were all very good as well. (Though STP depended on Weiland's sobriety and Metallica was much better at Giants Stadium than Wells Fargo Center.)

They can definitely jam. I didn't realize I know some of their songs already (Black Chandelier, Tiny Indoor Fireworks). I'd probably see them live.

Sound Garden in Camden must've been a nostalgia trip for sure. It's these moments that make concerts so darn special, right? Speaking of concerts, let me share a story. I once attended a show where the band's energy was off the charts, but the sound quality... not so much. It made me realize the significance of a top-notch sound team. I mean, it can make or break the whole experience!

Grateful Dead at RFK in 1986... only because I had never been before.. made a very good impression.. Sting opened. DC interns were eye-candylicious and abundent.

I was there but never got inside.

We drove all the way down from Rutgers too in a big old station wagon from the surplus Rutgers motor pool. My fraternity brother bought it because they wouldn’t sell him the RU a campus wide parking permit stuck on the dashboard unless he bought the whole car.

It was only like $100 if I recall correctly?

Older..there's a Springsteen at Giants Stadium, Genesis in there.
later 90's-2000.. John Mellencamp at MSG/Bryrne Arena
Last 15 years. U2 at MSG/Coldplay at Giants Stadium.

Great band - I grew-up mostly on R&B.
I saw them at MSG when they were doing the big Egyptian show
Amazing members with interesting bios.
They weren't like rockers going to jail, ODing, choking on vomit in their sleep etc.
Some R&B players had issues but most of them learned to sing/play in the churches with their families.
Russell Thompkins Jr. (Stylistics) was one of a kind

Huge Decemberists fan. Knew a smart guy like you and I could agree on something!

My favorite concert was Steve Goodman, Richie Havens and Seatrain back in the late 60's early 70's (anyone around at that time will understand why I can't pin it down better than that!)

Also, once talked to Janis in a concert at Rider College. James Cotton Blues Band was the back up and Janis and I agreed on how amazingly good they were. Janis: "Great f***ing band, ain't they?" Me: "Yep." (That was the entire conversation and I didn't even know it was Janis at the time. I cannot understand how she did that to her voice night after night.

Also saw James Taylor in Philly to a room of about 100 people. Well before he became big. He announced one song as "I'd like to play another one of my big hits now." (He had zero big hits at the time.) And then he played "Sweet Baby James," which was my goodnight song for my son about 10 years later.

I've liked the Decemberists for awhile . "Here I Dreamt I Was An Architect" is lush. Meloy likes Morrissey and Siouxsie and the Banshees and I like them both as well (I modded in a UK forum and got into their music). Morrrissey is actually playing in NYC this October but he randomly cancels a lot so I'm leery. He can walk on stage and walk off after a couple of songs. I would have gone to an Obama rally in NY if Decemberists were going to be there. My best friend from uni days is now a Marxist and European history prof - I can blend in almost anywhere.

Late 80s. Eric Clapton with Phil Collins on the drums at MSG. Robert Cray Band was the warm up act. Great talent and the place was rocking!!

I don't remember the price. Sorry you didn't get in but I have no idea how that concert stacked up to others. Just a memorable one for me. Music-wise my favorite was Violent Femmes and B-52s at GSAC but that was later in those band's lifespan. Some lucky couple I know got tickets to see Springsteen with E-Street playing at the Hayden Planetarian in NYC.. that was a unique and small concert.. the Big Man was still alive too...

Just saw Rage Against the Machine last year at MSG, amazing show.

Before that, it would've been Ozfest 05. I saw Killswitch Engage, As I Lay Dying, Rob Zombie, Black Label Society, In Flames, Mudvayne, Iron Maiden and the original lineup of Black Sabbath.

As a young fireman pre-9/11 we would see Fred Schneider all the time as he lived in our response area, the East Village.

Nice guy. Very shy.

Always found it a bit odd that he'd be the lead in an Athens GA band. Strange mixture of his talky=talky "signing" and those harmonies from the girls... worked very nicely.

Of course, I own..

1. Disturbed at PNC. Sat 4th row with my daughter. They opened with Ten Thousands Fists. Crowd went absolutely wild.

2. Def Leppard/Styx/Tesla at Mohegan Sun. First of all awesome venue. Not a bad seat in the house. Tesla opened and were very good. Styx Come Sail Away might be the best song performance I have ever seen in concert. Def Leppard played all their hits. Loved Bringin on a Heartbreak.

3. Green Day At Hartford CT. Most energetic performance I have ever seen. Played for 2 1/2 hours straight. Billie Joe Armstrong was great.
