Anyone else think the whole sativa/indica thing is BS? Sure, they look and taste different, but as far as effects, it's completely psychological IMO.
Yup, I agree, I’m repetitive.
Having two young teenage daughters will do that to you.
You say nothing about the people on here who THINK they drive better stoned or think it’s a non issue
Nobody drives better stoned or drunk or coked up, etc.
I could see where someone who is severely ADD or ADHD might drive better w/a bit of Ritalin, Vyvanse, or even just caffeine to help them avoid the distractibility and impulsiveness inherent to that disorder. There are certain drugs that can help a person function in extreme circumstances (think military special forces). Even those situations have limits, though.
Otherwise, I can't think of a use-case where drugs improve a person's ability to drive where the negative effects don't outweigh any positive benefits.
They aren't actually better at their jobs, the weed tricks them into thinking that.
The difference used to be more pronounced. But with all the cross breeding,hybrids, etc.the differences are strain dependent.

I was surprised by how many people I knew who were regular users of gummies and worked for a living and also drove vehicles. I actually tried them, but it wasn't really my kind of buzz. It kinda reminded me of the time I got a couple of teeth pulled and had the dentist let me leave before the shot he had given me had worn off. Lucky me...I was taking the Newark subway home. I still had trouble finding the curb, but I made it home okay. i've always been lucky like that.
BTW, drunk drivers are the real problem...not pot smokers.

Inebriated drivers of any kind are the real problem. Any discussion of the degree of inebriation is academic and pointless.
If I'm already tired, the world's purest sativa won't give me a lift.
I can smoke a pure indica during the day and still go on with what I need to do.
IDK...Just me, but I think there's definitely some placebo effect going on with how a particular strain is supposed to make you feel. My current state of being prior to smoking/ingesting is a better indicator.

I used it a couple times and it works in like 10 min and puts you in a coma. You have to be ready for bed before you take it or you will end up sleeping on the couch in your clothes.
Inebriated is synonymous with intoxicated - and intoxicated means under the influence of drugs.
So for our purposes, it means an intoxication-driven change to one's normal abilities for alertness, awareness, perception, focus, or anything else critical to driving safely.

Def not bs. Sativa and Indica effects are night and day. I can even tell effects between different Sativas.
Mildly. And the effect is reduced with age. Which is probably part of why it makes sense for males under 25 to be charged so much for auto insurance.
I have been intoxicated by drinking, by pot, and by various other substances. In every case, my ability to drive was reduced significantly. In no case was my ability to drive improved. Yours was also not improved.

Absolutely false. Sativa’s are a heady high, indica’s are a body high. They have totally different affects. Thing is there’s very few true sativa’s and indica’s anymore as most are hybrids in some capacity.

Sativa- ‘Let’s go for a hike in the woods and look at the pretty colors!’
Indica- ‘In Da Couch’

Seems like the teenagers now smoke weed more but drink less. In the end that's probably safer and not just for driving.
Yeah, I know all that. Doesn't work that way for me personally. I can remain highly active with an indica and pass out with a sativa. All depends on how I feel prior to smoking/ingesting.
Some people are just wired like that - and not just regarding weed. My wife can't take Benadryl because it makes her climb the walls.

We just hosted a birthday party for my daughters best friend….she turned 17.
The great majority were juniors and seniors including a dozen football players.
Only about 75 kids, but this same party in my day would have had cars wrapped around the block in two directions.
We had maybe 2 or 3 cars of designated drivers and around 50 kids hanging around out front waiting for UBERS at 12:30.
Neighbors knew before hand…. I was out with the dog talking to all the separate groups waiting for their rides.
I had a blast with them, but my daughter was aghast. (Got down in a three point stance with the football players) can you imagine my kids embarrassment.
These kids take driving seriously
Perhaps that's my issue. Have to become more of a connoisseur but grew up as a grab it, roll it, smoke it kinda guy.
Well I darn sure know my drum playing was better stoned. That's why so many musicians do it. And that's their jobs.
Being impaired from anything is an issue. But I'd rather be driving with a stoned driver behind me than one on the cell phone talking and texting.
What about a stoned person texting?
Distraction is distraction and a stoned driver could be just as distractible as a sober person. For example, the stoned driver could suddenly become distracted by the sunlight refracting so awesomely when reflecting off a store window, and forget to watch ahead. Back when I'd get high, if I were really stoned, I could get so distracted by a bass line or a drum fill in a song that I could easily fail to notice a car braking ahead of me.
I would vastly prefer whomever is behind me to be 100% sober, highly alert and focused forward. Anything less than that is bad and the degree of badness is kind of irrelevant if they rear-end you. I've avoided being rear ended several times in the past couple years alone just by watching for non-alert drivers when braking and taking avoiding action.
But to your point, when I see someone who appears to be texting behind me, I pull over, soon as it's safe to do so, and let them go past. Texting and driving is incredibly moronic.
Oh that was my first 6-7 years of smoking. In HS/College we basically had 2 choices, Headies or Mids. Headies were better quality and ran $55-70/8th Mids had more stems and seeds but got the job done at around $30-40/8th.
It wasn't until we started making DC runs when it became legal their that I could actually start sampling different strains and realize the different effects. I just knew from before that some weed would make me gigly, and others would knock me out. Nowadays I won't play golf for example without weed but there's absolutely no way I'm smoking a heavy indica with it for example, I'd be asleep in my car by the time we reached the 9th hole
I'm a 10 handicap and have actually gone so far as to truly test my handicap at my local golf course over a 3 month period to gage the effects...
I played 5 "sober rounds" and 5 "high rounds" at my local muni playing from the tips alternating high and sober rounds to allow for as accurate a comparison as possible. While sober my average handicap was 15 with a low score of 82 (Par 72 there) and high score of 93. While High my handicap was 9 with a low score of 78 and high of 83.
In other words, not only did I shoot significantly better under the effects of cannibis i also performed significantly more consistent...
Now am I advocating for people to drive while high? No, but I will say for some of us the effects absolutely are noticeable and tangeble
I’m not doubting you but I’m very surprised that you are a better golfer stoned than straight. Hand to eye coordination, focus, timing and tempo with the golf swing would all seem to suffer when stoned. You are probably the exception here imo.

My friend and I are golfers and bowlers and have thought about trying it a bit high.
Might be, idk. I've never taken a lesson in my life, don't lock my fingers in my grip, I do everything on feel. For some reason the game slows down for me and I can zone in more while high. It's really on the putting green that I notice the most difference
