Two different " driving" situations lol.
Btw..what is it that improved?
Driving, irons, chipping, putting?
Reading things better or just slowing down your routine?
My friend and I are golfers and bowlers and have thought about trying it a bit high.
I live 5 min away down a straight country road, just put it in cruise with lane assist and I'm gravy! lol.

Definitely my putting and driving see's the most difference. When I drive I have a tendancy to focus more on maximizing the power and drive I'm getting from my hips. With proper hip movement, you can crush the ball and hit it straighter (at least that's my belief and results) I also focus a lot better on the ball, I almost never look up or mishit while high while also staying loose.

Where it really shines for me is on the putting green though. Weed causes heightened senses and I believe that I can read and feel the greens better while stoned. Call me crazy but I do. I'm also an avid disc golfer and it DEFINITELY improves my disc golf game, particularly while putting as well.

Try it out, you'll have a blast! I also don't reccomend gummies while playing, go with a vape or joint

First if all you missed the joke lol. I meant driving on the course vs. the road .
I would certainly expect an improvement on and around the greens. Reading it all as n DC the " touch" aspect.

Lastly. No gummies for me. My liver does not appear to like them. Uncontrollable.

The best thing about this 12 page thread is how nice and respectful to the weed smokers are.

I believe this I am much more in tune to whatever I’m doing, even helping the wife clean or any yard work I’m more attentive to details. I’ve even gone for short 3 mile runs with a little buzz and it’s a whole different type of run

We just hosted a birthday party for my daughters best friend….she turned 17.
The great majority were juniors and seniors including a dozen football players.
Only about 75 kids, but this same party in my day would have had cars wrapped around the block in two directions.
We had maybe 2 or 3 cars of designated drivers and around 50 kids hanging around out front waiting for UBERS at 12:30.
Neighbors knew before hand…. I was out with the dog talking to all the separate groups waiting for their rides.
I had a blast with them, but my daughter was aghast. (Got down in a three point stance with the football players) can you imagine my kids embarrassment.
These kids take driving seriously

Uber is a game changer! Whether it's avoiding drunk/stoned driving, bad parking situations or getting around the world in areas where taxis can be dicey.

For the first time ever in NJ, last year DUI was the top cause of fatal car accidents due to the spike in high drivers. Beat out the long running king of deaths.....distractions.

Great job potheads. You are making NJ a better place.

couldn't find the stats on cause but there were actually LESS fatal accidents in '22 even though more deaths.

FATAL CRASHES
2022 2021
661 667

now as a % it could be more DUI but this wouldn't suggest it.

Drunk and high drivers now the top cause of fatal crashes in N.J., report shows
Updated: Jan. 13, 2023, 7:25 a.m.

NJ Advance Media for NJ.com
Intoxicated drivers buzzed on booze and drugs are now the leading cause of fatal traffic crashes in New Jersey, according to a just-released annual State Police report that analyzed fatal collisions in 2021.

For the first time in a decade, distracted driving was not the leading cause of fatal crashes in the state, the State Police report found. While a 2023 state safety plan laid out strategies and program to reduce crashes, safety and driver advocates are debating, and in some cases disagreeing, about the best ways to do that.

In 2021, 697 people were killed in 667 crashes, the highest fatalities since 2007 and an increase for the third year in a row, despite the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. New Jersey had 218 fatal pedestrian crashes in 2021, the highest number since 1989.

Intoxication (both alcohol and drugs) was the top “contributing factor” in 210 fatal crashes in 2021, a 30% increase from the 162 crashes in 2020 where intoxication was blamed, the analysis found. The 210 crashes in 2021 killed a total of 228 people.

For the first time, the analysis separated the number of crashes where drivers, pedestrians or cyclists tested positive for cannabis. It showed 91 drivers, 13 passengers, 23 pedestrians and two cyclists tested positive for cannabis after fatal crashes.

“As for impaired driving topping distracted driving, this is happening in many states,” said Pam Fischer, the Governor’s Highway Safety Association senior director of external engagement, and the former state Division of Highway Safety executive director.

“Consuming cannabis and then driving immediately afterward is not safe,” she said. “Just like we say with those who consume alcohol, don’t drink and then drive. Make alternate arrangements.”

Why did you cut out this part of the article?

New Jersey legalized the recreational use of marijuana in 2021. Yet to be determined is the effect legalization had on crashes. Unlike alcohol, which has a legal standard for intoxication based on blood alcohol content, determining cannabis intoxication relies on evaluation by trained Drug Recognition Experts.

You jump to a conclusion that simply not supported. The problem is that if the person tests positive it counts towards the statistics. The problem is that people can test positive weeks after use. So just because they tested positive doesn't mean it contributed to the article.

I also googled it and that didn't come up but thanks for sharing. I'm sure more people are doing it and that's not good. But neither is all the other crap folks do behind the wheel. Freakin woman in front of me on Rt. 202 all the way from Flemington to Bridgewater was on her cell and weaving back and forth from one line to the other. Accident waiting to happen.

Just because bad things are happening now doesn't make adding new bad things a good idea. I think Plato said that! 😜

Common sense. Weed was legalized and potheads went crazy. Just like on this board. Sorry, facts are facts. It's happening in all rec-legal states. Go smoke some weed and calm down.
Common sense would say if that was true then the number of fatal accidents would be up? The number of fatal accidents went down since legalization. How do you explain that? Is making weed legal making our roads safer?

NO it isn't happening in all rec legal stats. What is happening is people are taking pieces of information and running with it to fit their agenda without looking at the big picture. Since you are so concerned with the safety of our roads are you advocating the ban of alcohol?

Moronic take by the freedom haters in this thread. The only people getting high now, because it's legalized, that weren't getting high before, are law abiding people. Law abiding people don't drive drunk or stoned.

So legalization changed nothing. The freedom-haters are desperate to find some excuse to take away our individual freedoms in every way they can, as usual. Making up nonsensical correlations has always been one of their favorite tactics.

I did use weed the last two years and also drove sometimes, however, the last two months I pretty much stopped using pot as well as giving up drinking.

When they warn you about the negative affect of drugs, it’s more the long term affects 30-40 years down the road. I’m getting closer to 70’s.

As a law abiding citizen I much prefer the effects of marijuana to those of alcohol not only personally but across our social landscape.

Would rather be dealing with stoned drivers than drunk drivers, rather deal with stoned folks than drunk folks at a bar/restaurant/party/festival, rather deal with stoned PSU fans than drunk PSU fans, the list goes on.

I have heard more than a couple drivers tell me they prefer to be high when driving as they are less anxious. And they feel they are much better drivers that way.
Of course, it doesn't enter their mind that their reflexes are so much slower because of it.

I'm curious though, weed can stay in your system well after the high is gone- a couple of weeks...what type of test can be given to determine if you are "high" at the time of driving and not just the lingering drug that can still be traced in your blood?

Down by 6 in a sample size of 667?

Also, there are a LOT less people on the roads in 2020-22, so the statistics may be off. Maybe there were more on the road in 2022, maybe not. Incidental observation in our Parkway commute is that there is a LOT less traffic than pre-pandemic.

Don't think we will get a clear answer here. We will get a lot of assertions based on confirmation bias from both sides (those who are pro weed and anti weed). It will take more years of data to see if there is a trend. In the long term, a 1% change is not a trend. I have no dog in this fight.

Between the inebriated, the texters, the conversationalists, the too old to be driving, the sleepy, the maintenance what is maintenance-ers, the buggy autopiloted, the experiencing strokes or heart-attacks, and the chronic tailgaters, it's a death trap out there.

Oh, and don't forget about all the deer that are out for blood these days.

So you should absolutely stay home. All of you should, IMO. Just not safe out there.

I agree with you 100%. My point was if legal weed made the roads so unsafe wouldn't you have seen a drastic increase in the number of accidents comparing 2021 to 2022 when in fact the number went down.

Well except me and that other guy next to me who mouths the words, "What the **** was that?" as I reply, "I have no fvcking idea?" while we both raise our hands to the heavens shaking our heads in disbelief. There's a lot of fvcking stupid people out there and they're only getting dumber.

If it weren't for the two queens of the CE he would hold the undisputed title for making up the most nonsense on this board and the worst predictions. Put "rut roh" in the search bar and enjoy.

It's impressive that he would bump this. But his handlers must think this is a winning issue for them, which is great news. Means they'll run on this and never hold power.

I see a lot of WTF driving moments on my (typically) weekly pleasure drives. People running red lights and stop signs, people riding the bumper of the cars in front of them, often at highway speeds (which is suicidal).

I see people lose control of their car sometimes, in strange ways. Spins and sudden out of control accelerations and such. People on the highway changing lanes too fast for their car to handle and swaying wildly and near out of control.

I actually got hit once by a drunk woman in a parking lot. She was coming from a fire department gathering in a park. I was in my car with my GF at the time. We watched her stumble down a hill, with 3 little kids. Watched them climb into the car. Watched her start the car, put it in drive and go forward, up a curb and a few feet up the kill. Then stop, switch to reverse, back down and keep backing up until she hit my car.

I was... a little irritated. More about the little kids than anything else. I wanted to call the cops, but a bunch of firemen talked me out of it and said they'd drive her and the kids home. So I let it go. In retrospect, I doubt the firemen were sober themselves.
