Can you deal with modern Bimmer nostrils, though? Somehow, those are toned down compared to others.

What is it about electrics you don't like? Just curious, not trying to hard-sell. I don't have one, either.
The outlandish grill treatment has definitely been toned down on the '25 2-series cars. As such, it's livable.

As for electrics... I don't dislike them, per se. I just don't think they're "enthusiast prime time" yet. The fast ones are horrifyingly heavy - a dual motor Polestar 3 weighs nearly 3 tons. They're quick enough off the line, but they run out of steam at the top end and handle poorly compared to an IC car that's tuned for handling.

As commuting vehicles & grocery getters, I think EVs are just fine. But for challenging The Tail of the Dragon..? Nope.

Seems a little boneheaded for Tesla to make the investment and have it only good for 5 years?

Sales continue to crash in Europe, except Norway:

Tesla can try to frame this however it wants, but the data is clear: Tesla’s sales are dropping like a rock in Europe despite the availability of the new Model Y and record incentives like zero-interest financing.

2,500 Norwegians buying Tesla vehicles in May isn’t compensating for the declines in other markets and I doubt that the surge in May in Norway is going to be sustainable in the second half, especially if Tesla ends the zero-interest financing when it claims it will at the end of the quarter
.

I think the universal chargers will be a plus for EV market. The charging stations is a differentiator for Tesla. If they lose that edge, then they have to compete with pricing.

I have not kept up on public charging, since I have never used it. What does all this mean?--What does our Lightning vehicles have, and is that free adapter they gave us for NACS?

NJ had been asking Tesla to make these stations NEVI compatible (CCS support, credit card readers) and Tesla has been turning them down for ages. Now the state decided to go with a more competitive bid with Applegreen, and upgrade to universal chargers (CCS and NACS cables) that don't require an app and can take credit cards.

On the other hand, I don’t like the Turnpike Authority using the term “universal charger” as if this is a positive for Applegreen. They are going to use CCS, and everyone is moving to NACS in North America.

Yes, for a while, only Tesla owners will have to use adapters, but that will soon change and the current NACS Supercharger will be even more useful.

All the charger differentiation is not helping adoption.

I can still go to the any gas station, anywhere, and toss the kid a credit card and say "fill 'er up".

I don't want to put any more thought than that into the process.

If you are not in Jersey, that kid will toss your CC and say “**** off” 😀

Yeah, we all know that. Obviously we pump our own gas everywhere else. I've lived in other states, from time to time. I get it. It's cool.

Still don't have to research every fuel stop to determine what kind of nozzle the pump has.

But you can't fill up your gas tank at home!!!
Don't miss gas stations at all. It's painful when driving rental cars to have to stop for gas.

I’m at 21k and need new tires. The OEM General Grabber sucks. Rated for 65k but didn’t even make 25k
Did you get advice from the Lightning forums? Come to think of it, I recall at least one thread where a Lightning owner got lousy mileage on his OEM tires. I'm still very happy with my truck, and I have no plans to sell or trade in any time soon. It has been used so lightly, it feels brand new inside.

From what I hear it doesn’t work. Keep your hands on the wheel and watch the road. Another video showing it ignored a school bus stop sign and then ran over a dummy pedestrian
Bought my daughter a Tesla for school. No maintenance and free charging on campus I’ve used the self driving mode a bunch. You don’t have to keep your hands on the wheel. But you do have to pay attention. Crazy right? I’ve been very impressed with it

I had a free trial of it about a year ago and was impressed but didn’t love it. I went back to using it again recently and it’s definitely improved. Use it to and from work every day and love it now

But what is there to driving besides paying attention? Slightly moving your hands?

I feel like if I'm going to use FSD it's so I can sleep and then wake up where ever it is I'm going.

Shares of TSLA down 12% on the events of the day.

Elmo remains a master strategist.
Keeping politics out of the discussion, if what I see is what you are talking about, the other side might like him again?
I have repeated over an over, I don't have a strong opinion on EM. He would be better served to focus on his businesses and keep his nose out of politics. Maybe he learned a lesson, or maybe not. I don't really care for EM the person either, but he is not inviting me over for a party, so I don't care.

The only way to look at this situation is "cautiously".

Musk was never a good fit inside the Trump orbit. He's personally toxic (not actually disqualifying) and has always been more popular among "the libs" than among core Trump supporters.

Will said "libs" take him back? No way to say for sure, but I don't think so.

From a business perspective... he's no longer the only game in town and his products have been long criticized in auto enthusiast circles. He desperately needs a cooperative administration (and Congress) to maintain his competitive edge in the U.S. If he loses it, Tesla's days are numbered.

Of course, there's one other possibility... One which has Musk and Trump bro-hugging-it-out by Monday morning and TSLA going up $100 a share. 😜

Agree about the only game in town. Similar to my disdain for Apple products (and I am on an island on this in my own home!), never liked the fit/finish of Teslas. They felt cheap inside for the price point. Maybe that's what he is doing, and want to avoid politics derailing another thread, but here are two funny X posts.

On Friday, after 3 years driving a PHEV and driving 80% on battery, I picked up my 2026 Red Tesla Model Y Long Range AWD.
I had a turn signal stalk and the rest is controlled on the screen. One foot driving is wonderful. I drove it from Brooklyn to Staten Island in bumper to bumper traffic only touching the brake 3 times.

Is there any juice left in this thread or did it run out of gas?

Robotaxi going live in SF, already in a 5x bigger footprint than Waymo is operating in there. They just posted ads for supervised drivers in about 8 more cities in CA, NV, FL and TX. Accelerating quite fast

Power went out tonight and got to test out the V2H setup. Worked as advertised. Finally justifying the purchase to my wife 😀
Ford officially kills the Lighting. So much money flushed down the toilet. Not enough stupid people were buying this POS.

"Rather than spend billions more on these large EVs that we had planned that have no path to profitability, we're going to pour our investments into higher margin areas" Farley added.

They are following the Tesla model. Teslas are so unprofitable, it’s no longer a car company 😀
