Adam Dunn hit 462 HRs and drove in over 1100. Aaron Judge had one good half. He'll be fortunate to reach Dunn' s career numbers.
And by the way, Dunn hit 46 once and 40 five other times. We'll see if Judge gets to 46.
And had a lifetime batting average of .237 and couldnt play the field at all.

Bellinger, who missed the first 20 games of the year while in minors, has 34 hr and 79 rbi in 20 less games. Since the all-star break, he is hitting .308 with 9 hr and 21 rbi versus .165 with 5hr and 12rbi.

He is my pick for best rookie this year in MLB.

For the record, Dave Kingman's highest striekout total in a season was 156 with 607 at bats.

Judge is at 155 Ks with 398 at bats, and at that pace, if he gets to 607 at bats, he would have 236 Ks Calling Judge Dave Kingman is an insult to Dave Kingman.

.163 last 31 days with 47% strikeout rate.

Judge is at .270 for his career and it's dropping like a rock. With his small sample size, his career BA could be .250 by the end of the season. He also has a K in 30 straight games, which is extremely Dunn-esque.

First at bat tonight typical of Judge's issues since the all-star break. He takes a fat first pitch fastball down the middle for a strike and then loses all plate discipline as he starts swinging at low and outside and then high and inside pitches.

I'm puzzled why no one has coached him to start swinging at the fast ball down the middle first pitch that he is being served up almost every time.

And Adam Dunn had 158 HR at the age of 25, Judge is at 36. No chance he reaches Dunn's numbers. He would have to average 10 more homers a year for 12 years to catch-up and that's not happening. Judge's K rate is alarming, to say the least.

Here's his line since the All-Star break:

Code:
G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB IBB SO SB CS AVG OBP SLG OPS
30 103 14 18 2 0 6 13 27 5 49 1 1 .175 .344 .369 .712

He's striking out 48% of the time.

I agree that based on the fact that he was a great pitcher and a dominate home run king in the day of many fewer home runs, he was the best ever

yet, I think if he was around today a young man, trying to make the league , he would not be half the player he was then.... I look at his swing, his physique, it would have been a disaster....

we could then argue that he would not look or be as he was then, in todays world, with training and care for your body....

yet, there are may great players from the past I would think you could transport in time and have them still be great players....he was not one of them.

Ive heard that most if not all film footage of Ruth was taken at the end of his career - 35 plus years old. There is no film footage of him in his prime cause they didn't have it or it no longer exists maybe a few stills as a young man - so your looking at the fat Elvis not the man in his prime and he was in much better shape and lean in his prime.

I don't care what anybody says - give me the guy that hit more home runs personally than entire teams - will never happen again - unless some dude hits 150 home runs. Not happening ever again.

you have given a good answer.... now that you mention it, most of the footage seems to be when he was fat, thus later in his career.... his swing at that point does not look like it could get it done in today's game , but possibly he had much better form early on..... In fact, almost certainly
I always thought that he was the best.... how could a player who hit more home runs than entire teams, not be?.... not to mention his pitching....

It's hard to predict the future, but that's what makes sports (and life) fun.

Remember how following their World Series appearance two years ago, the Mets had the beginnings of a dynasty with all those fantastic young arms, i.e. Harvey, deGrom, Syndergaard, Wheeler, Matz, etc.? LOL!

Don't remember the word dynasty. There was optimism. Injuries derailed it.

What are those mysterious strains / injuries that gosh just don't quite show up on X-ray but require 2-3 weeks of rest & a few weeks of rehab ? ... yeah ... I think Judge may have one of those ... and it may be about to be diagnosed ...

With the meteoric rise that he had at the outset of this season - the All-Star Home Run Derby Circus performance - and the constant constant spotlight - it is like he has had a 10 year career in his rookie season - and it looks like he may need a bit of re-calibration ... hopefully just a tweak or two or five .... but might be good to intervene in some way now - rather than let this go on & on - and be a bigger bunch of crap to fix .

No matter how you look at it, Judge already has huge numbers in his rookie season. Big props to him for that. But being a life long baseball fan, my head can't wrap around 200Ks in a season. That is a good number for a starting pitcher, not a hitter.
Take away 50 of those worthless at bats and he puts those in play, there is a very good chance many of those AB's are productive and equal more wins.
