Good.

"Heuermann is not believed to be tied to the additional six bodies that were also found in the area, The Post’s source said."

Sounds like they may be dealing with a copycat too.

Never even heard of these murders.

I'm curious about the tie-in and how strong that evidence is.

I just watched the movie about the missing escort Shannan Gilbert, who was 24 years old the other day, if her mother didn’t relentlessly search and put pressure on the police department from the area where she made her 911 calls they never would have found all those missing persons bodies . Who knows how many remains have never been found in in that area, definitely was a dumping ground for some sicko, if true the movie initially shows the police did not want anything to do with this, one can only speculate but many police either lived or had summer homes all along that area in question.

FBI timing on the release of this is suspect. They're in need of some good press. Decades old case they had in the back pocket to divert attention from so many fires in the Agency that need to be put out.
Heuermann’s arrest comes after Suffolk County’s new police commissioner created a special Gilgo Beach Homicide Investigation Task Force in February 2022.

Not the FBI, need another conspiracy theory.

FBI is too busy spying on “radical Catholics” , soccer Moms ant PTA meetings and other opposing PARTY organizations than to solve a serial killer cold case.

Kudos to the Suffolk County PD.

Some great detective work over the last year to solve these murders after 12-15 years of frustration for the families. There have been some documentaries over the years and I would bet Dateline and/or 48 Hours or 20/20 will quickly jump on this.

Agreed. Assuming this is really the guy, it demonstrates a lot of perseverance by LE.

Technology is making it harder and harder to get away with these sorts of crimes. In this case, DNA , location services, cellular technology, etc. were all a part of the means to solving the case. I don't think I saw a reference to traffic or other cams. But those are also helping LE everywhere nowadays.

We give up a lot of privacy and that's a concern. But when it leads to solving this sort of thing, it's worth it, IMO.

Yeah, they basically said during the press conference that they felt it was important to get him off the streets as he continued to patronize sex workers and seek out torture porn on the Internet. I don’t think there was a sinister motive here as they pieced together enough evidence over 16 months once he was ID’d as a prime suspect.

Heuermann, 59, a married father of two, used one of his burner phones "to conduct thousands of searches related to sex workers, sadistic, torture-related pornography and child pornography," court records said.

Other searches were "related to active and known serial killers," and the disappearances of the Gilgo Beach victims. One search, according to court records, was, "Why hasn't the Long Island serial killer been caught."

He also allegedly searched for photos of the Gilgo Beach victims and their relatives, Tierney said.

How much more available in the last 12-14 years has the technology they used to solve this case? Wel done.
Just 'cause you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you. Better keep stocking up on canned goods and aluminum foil.

Yeah, it's over the top. But when they start investigating that father who was arrested in Loudon County school board meeting it will spark that kind of reaction. The father who was protesting the quiet transfer of the trans student who he said molested his daughter in the girl's room of their school. Press had a field day with the arrest and vilified him. Of course when the transferee molested a 2nd girl at the 2nd school things changed. It all came out in the grand jury investigation that resulted. But outside of, to it's credit, the Washington Post, it was crickets from the villifiers. Have the Grand Jury Case # if you're interested.

Donald Trump GIF by Election 2016

In recent months, Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney and Suffolk County Police Commissioner Rodney Harrison invited the FBI to help and formed a task force focused on the case.

I saw
They traced burner phones that called the victims to the Heuerman. The murders were done when his wife was out of town traveling. They got his DNA from a pizza box match hair found on one of the victim.
I saw a documentary years ago on this case. The way they stumbled on the bodies was incredibly bizarre. And then it seems there might be two serial killers. Long Island is one of those places that gets more than its share of them.
