We called the drive-in the Finger Bowl. Got stuck in a snow pile backing up one night and had to wait for a tow truck. Lot of pregnancies started there, cuz the tow didn't come until waaaay after the movies were done.

Yeah not right across but close. Changed name to Bello’s. Or Bello’s first. Memory fuzzy. Was called something else in the 70s

Simko's became Bello's about 20ish years ago. One of my friends from h.s. is still there pretty much every Friday night.

SWMHS class of 1990. Lived in Oak Tree West.
My wife graduated from Sayreville in 1975. She lived in Oak Tree section of Parlin.

In 1972/1973 she ran track on the boy's track team. They started a girls' team after that year.

She was scholar athlete at RU when she graduated. At RU she also played field hockey.

Like all men I married up.

Ha! One of my closest buds. Also good friends with Will L. who lived on the other corner from your family's house. Damato's too. RIP JJ.
JJ was my best friend growing up. He stood at my wedding and I at his. I remember Billy L. too. So you were probably friends with Robby. Small world.

Yeah like Cinema 9 & whatever that cinema in Sayrewoods was called. Not sure if the Madison Cinema went porn or not. Then, of course, there was the Majestic in Perth Amboy
Majestic 1954 Disney type films . 1978-1980. Behind the Greeen Door and more.

Went past Amboy cinemas today and there is definitely action going on. Fence around building and the building is partially down. I don’t know if the building collapsed (didn’t see any heavy machinery near) or it was taken down. The building is partially down.

The Amboy Cinemas are mostly down right now. Drove by around 7:30 a.m. today, and very little of it left standing.

Was this also the location of Raz Ma Taz? For some reason I've always remembered that place from the 80s. I thought this was the spot but it's been a while...

Stumbled into there once with my family when I was in my 20’s. Actually I think after coming home from Rutgers?

Right in the middle of “JUSTIN IS FIVE YEARS OLD TODAY!” party.

The noise and screaming was deafening. We left immediately.

Yup, that sounds right. I also remember they had what I thought at the time was a very impressive arcade.

Three XXXs
Swanees
2x4
Gatsby's (most disgusting dive I've ever been in)
Clarkes
Red Top
Step In
Tumble Inn

Most of the local dives in lower Sayreville. There are a ton more. It was hard to go thirsty back in the day.
