We are in agreement. I should have gone further in explaining why it matters that Tucker is a public employee. There’s going to be a lot of pressure from residents on state and MSU officials to fire him, and they are obligated to respond to it. A private entity can also get a lot of outside pressure but is only obligated to respond to its shareholders.
In a similar vein (and no pun intended (sorry/not sorry)), public employees and leaders and teachers of young people should be held to a high (and a higher standard) than some random employee or boss in a sweatshop or small business. You are right that private entities can get pressure to "be better" but it seems standards have really slipped all around. We constantly preached to our children (now both adults) to do the right thing, stand up for what is right, speak up when you see something wrong and don't go with the flow.

From Sept 2022, but very fitting today. Mel will be sweating it out for the next 80 minutes or so. Too funny the screen reads "illegal man down field."

Mel looking like this for the next 80 mins:

Interesting choice on Bennett. 56 years old, followed Dantonio around as a DBs/Secondary coach, and has never risen past that level. But he played for the Spartans. Dantonio abruptly resigned under a cloud of lawsuits alleging NCAA recruiting violations by a former staffer, but as far as I can find, at least one (if not all) of those suits have been dismissed/terminated, none resulting in a judgement against Dantonio.

Damage control I guess but this is going to be a tough thing for them especially with other prior issues.May they can resurrect Duffy Daugherty from the grave?

yea, Mel, here's a piece of advice, albeit a little late,

you cannot admit to masturbating while on the phone with a gang rape survivor whose literal job it is to go around the country explaining to athletes what sexual harassment, sexual abuse and rape is.
Yeah, that was a head scratcher. But guessing there was a recording or text messages (the article says deleted, but can't they be retrieved?).

McMurphy backtrack a little but basically gives the impression it will be a formality and he will be fired but certain procedures have to be followed.

Conflicting reports now. I think he could eventually be fired but suspended til the hearing seems plausible.

Mandel (Northwestern alum) should shut up and crawl under a rock. At Northwestern, there as an investigation, a clearing of Fitz, and a firing ONLY after the student newspaper did a deeper investigation.

They need time to figure out if they can pay the $80M if the evidence doesn’t prove non-consensual

Posted another tweet and McMurphy backtracked a little but basically sounds like it’s a forgone conclusion but certain protocol will be followed first.

She‘s a subordinate. Consensual or not, he’s cooked.
Is a consultant a subordinate? She was paid $10,000 for speaking to athletes for her foundation. I am in no way implying that lessens the severity of what Tucker did. In an ethical context, it does not matter, particularly because of her role with the team and the relationship she and Tucker had in purportedly setting a standard.

matter of time. .suspended with pay...reading the two articles very distrubing actions...

A complaint filed in December 2022 by Brenda Tracy, a prominent rape survivor and activist against sexual violence, accused Tucker of making sexually suggestive comments and masturbating while she "sat frozen for several minutes" during a phone call on April 28, 2022.

Michigan State head football coach Mel Tucker is set to be fired amid an investigation into sexual harassment, according to Action Network.

The school will wait until the investigation is complete, per the report, before making the move official and will claim dismissal with cause in effort to avoid paying Tucker’s lucrative buyout.

The Athletic reported that Tucker is not yet fired, and is currently suspended with pay.

News of the investigation and the allegations surfaced Sunday morning, and reports of Tucker’s looming firing arrived by the afternoon.

Sexual assault prevention advocate Brenda Tracy alleges that Tucker masturbated without her consent during a phone call, sent her gifts and asked if she would date him if he was not married.

A consultant may be worse than a subordinate, especially if Tucker was the decision maker on when/how to use her services (which some of the articles seem to imply is the case)

Consensual or not, screwing around with someone that you have control over their ability to get paid is going to get you fired for cause pretty much everywhere.

A consultant hired by him. That makes her a subordinate.

Going to be almost impossible for Tucker to prove consensual phone sex. He admits to the deed in the first place. Guy could have had a high $$$$ escort and nobody would know.

Come on my man...lol have some respect for yourself and your family. How stupid can you be? Of all the women in the world this is the one you choose to pursue? A well known rape survivor and activist hired to speak with your team about sexual misconduct? I don't know how conversations even got to this point but you have to be smarter than that, even if you think she's flirting with you, cut that off immediately. You're on contract for nearly 100 million, looks like he's about 55, are you that desperate?
With that being said, women with stories like this always confuse me...how does this even get to a point that this guy is telling you he's masturbating on the phone? And what do you mean you sat there listening for minutes "in shock"...hang up the phone, curse him out, something..either way Mel tucker is a 🤡 c'mon man

I don’t know what happened here but this woman apparently went through a horrific event years ago. Despite all the work she has done to get herself to a position where she could talk about it, that experience is still buried in there. Maybe this event on the phone triggered something that left her paralyzed (or “frozen”). It seems plausible to me especially if you know someone who experienced a trauma and suffers from PTSD.

No, she was not a subordinate. An outside speaker is not a consultant. She did not report to him and is not even an MSU employee.

If he didn’t lie, obstruct the investigation or break the law or even any university policy this isn’t a slam dunk ‘for cause’ case.

What happens in consensual relationships is nobodys business. Why didn’t she hang up when the conversation went south (pun intended)?

Bad judgment for sure, but with what we know I’m not convinced it wasn’t consensual.

Time will tell what the evidence shows.

“You have to fire him” is easy to say if you’re not on the hook for the $80M. Plus, the Title IX accusee gets a hearing which hasn’t happened yet.

I agree would a terrible look to keep him so he will be gone. MSU will try to settle for a lesser amount.

Again, what will the evidence show one way or the other about consensuality ?

I mean yeah, whatever has to happen there is going to happen...idk, but he can't walk into people's living room asking to oversee and guide their children for the next 4 years...he can't even guide himself lol, really unbelievable..

Shelby goes through mental masturbatory gymnastics to propound a purported defense for Tucker's buffoonery, yet he cannot offer a kind word for a single thing Schiano has done. Speaks volumes.

but what they did is not that so what's the issue? 2 consenting adults (he said she said) had phone sex. That's very different that what you state here. Her job has no bearing on two adults having fun on the phone. Poor judgement with her yes but if she was into it then don't see an issue

I think there is more here,
