I've caught bits and pieces of the WBC, but it hasn't drawn me in much yet.
I do like watching the Mets spring games, though. There seems to be a bunch of talent in the minor leagues, particularly on the offensive side. AJ Ewing has such a smooth swing and basically a smooth everything. Jacob Reimer swings with bad intentions and seems to have an idea at the plate. Benge is the hardest for me to figure, as he's smooth but never seems (to me) to be hitting the ball all that hard. But he apparently is. Baty's having a good spring from every angle. I'm gaining more respect for him. It's only spring, but Alvarez seems to be working his way toward the hitter we'd thought he'd be, something he started doing toward the end of last year. It'd be something if he can keep that up. All the new veterans seem like tough outs who just hit, with some pop, some contact, and good eyes. Bichette looks a bit wonky at third, but it's early. I haven't focused on the pitching much so far, which will obviously be key.
It was a very interesting off season, and so far it's been an interesting spring.
