Cool instrumental track from Ron Bumblefoot Thal. Has played in many bands, including guns and roses. @RUGuitarMan1 may like this:
That’s an interesting double neck guitar he is playing. The top guitar is fretless, so the sound kind of mimics the sound of slide guitar without using a slide . Speaking of instrumentals, Billy Strings played this song off his new album recently on The Howard Stern Show. I’m going to see Mr Strings for the first time this weekend at the Prudential Center. I am really looking forward to it:
I agree with this YouTube comment:
"i don’t want to overstate things but the boojums are the band that will save rock n roll"
Rock N Roll doesn’t need saving. People have been saying Rock is dead and in need of “saving” as early as shortly after its inception in the early 1950s. There is always going to be some young people coming together and playing what they believe in and trying to express themselves. Rock music is a very wide genre with many different influences and few rules. Some think they know what Rock is, often they have a limited view of what Rock music is about.
I understand your point and at times feel that way myself. Sometimes i have a kneejerk reaction to things musical, especially after a few glasses of wineI somewhat agree.
Rock n Roll is subjective.
With my tongue in cheek endorsement of the YT comment, I was referring to saving a small part of Rock that I identify with and love — that part appears dead on the surface.
It’s alive, but you have to look for it.
Last video to be released from Extreme's latest album. Good song.
I had the pleasure of seeing Billy Strings for the first time last night at The Pru Center. It was outstanding and featured across the board musical virtuosity. Strings and his band can flat out play and Strings voice fits the music he plays. Some outstanding jamming/improvisation . Was impressed with the crowd, some older folks like my wife and I, but the vast majority were young people under 35. One caveat if you decide to see him, I haven’t been stoned in 40 years and did not intend to be - but the billowing clouds of herbal essence makes it difficult not to be. Here’s a clip (not mine):
Nuno is fantastic. Underappreciated virtuoso who was on fire at Back to the Beginning final Sabbath show. Fairly humble guy, and arguably the heir to Eddie Van Halen's thrown as one of the greatest guitar greats.Nuno skating over his solo, made me laugh, love it.
Yeah, I originally heard about him maybe 7 years ago. At first I was a little skeptical and didn’t dive into his music. In my mind I was thinking “who names themselves Billy Strings?” It seemed a little contrived . Then I read a few articles written by some music writers that I respect and they were very glowing of his playing, his band, etc. Once I heard his music and then became aware of his personal story, I became a very big fan. They do a mix of things musically live. Some traditional Bluegrass, some great interpretations of some classic rock songs, his own catalogue has some really good songs. He and his band are a treasure.Billy's awesome. Have an uncle that's been following him for years now and introduced me to his work. Opening another generations ears to Bluegrass.
Jack White at halftime of today’s Packers- Lions game. A few new songs and an oldy but goody, smoke machines and M&M to boot.

Turkey Day wine consumption playing a major role! I do know Eminem, I don’t think I would have spelled it correctly last evening. I really need to stop posting things after I have some drinks, I usually end up a bit chagrined the next day! That's Eminem! No Snickers over the slight miscue.
Saw the White Stripes in their prime, and they were great.
Jack White's newest album is very good.
Have read many reviews that his live shows are very short.
This is maybe the best song anyone has posted to this thread - it's fantastic and the first one you posted is great too. Thanks. Reminds me a bit of early Replacements or maybe the Ergs!
And the bonus was the song that popped up after the one you posted, which is also one of the best new songs I've heard in quite some time. Love the tune by Tuesday Trinkets, from Manila (first single). Kind of reminds me of Sundays meets Velocity Girl.
Best in thread? I like the video and their energy, but they remind me more of Ramones, Pixies or The Hives.

Yes, best in thread, for me, although the follow-up song from that link on YouTube might be even more of a favorite of mine now (the Tuesday Trinkets song). And any punkish band will also bear some similarity to the Ramones, Pixies and Hives, but I stand by my (early) Replacements comparison, in particular.Best in thread? Music is very personal. I have friends/family who have tried to tell me there "is something wrong with me" liking punk rock, stoner rock and thrash metal. My comeback is along the lines from the Dead Milkmen song: "If you don't know Mojo Nixon, your store could use some fixin'!"Yes, best in thread, for me, although the follow-up song from that link on YouTube might be even more of a favorite of mine now (the Tuesday Trinkets song). Yep and thanks (and I'll even take the jab in good humor). We're pretty damn well aligned on music. Keep the links coming. Speaking of which, below is the first of 3 posts with a few of my recent faves.Agreed. I think that’s why we like them.
Btw, Numbers’ music IQ and taste easily surpass even his weather and pangolin expertise.![]()
So, I dug deeper on the Boojums. Have no idea why this song is called "Football", but it piqued my interest. The female's vocal fills here remind me a bit of Kim Deal in Pixies' What's My Name--Surfa Rosa such a great albumYes, best in thread, for me, although the follow-up song from that link on YouTube might be even more of a favorite of mine now (the Tuesday Trinkets song). Next new song I'm liking is a banger - but a very catchy one - by Weird Nightmare, called "Forever Elsewhere." It's a new single and I think it'll be off their 2nd album. It reminds me of one of my favorite songs from the Cloud Nothings, "I'm Not Part of Me," from 2014, also linked below.
I'm with you on War on Drugs. I only discovered them a few years ago and really like their sound. I'm not good at describing music but haunting and ethereal come to mind with them. Just looked at a couple of their live performances this week on youtube and they're great live. I didn't know until recently that Kurt Vile was with them at the start before going out on his own - I like some of his stuff and can see the connection.Personally, I can't get enough of my current favorite band The War On Drugs. I think I'm addicted to a tune called Harmonia's Dream...a live version of the tune off of their latest release in 2024...a live album titled Live Drugs Again.
So many tunes I just can't get enough of off of their last three studio albums as well...Lost In The Dream(2014), A Deeper Understanding(2017), and I Don't Live Here Anymore(2021)....plus their first live album titled Live Drugs(2020), which contains probably still my favorite tune by this band...a live version of a tune titled An Ocean In Between The Waves.
The best band I've heard in this century.
