I try not to look at preceding setlists of concerts I'm mulling going to. I've gotten disappointed countless times seeing the exact same show. Pearl Jam was an exception to this as their sets would often be completely different, minus a few staples in the same spots. Sidebar, their show last summer at SeaHearNow was straight trash; worst PJ show I've ever seen out of 20.
I'm more of a Blood Sugar fan. To me, front to back that album is incred. And what an odd one to play off of Mother's Milk. Def check out the new album. Start right at song 2. It's a really solid album. Makes you appreciate how much Frusciante brings to the table creatively and harmoniously as a singer
New songs from The Mars Volta, after 10 year hiatus. Quite unlike their previous prog-rock work, has Caribbean rhythms and world music feel:

New Goo Goo Dolls. They played PNC Arts Center last night. Not bad, but I like their older stuff a lot more.
Waiting for the last album of this journey to be released in another week. However I wanted to post a live version of the song “ Gravity” recorded live at Red Rocks in Col. a few weeks ago. This is the first time they played this live. The vibe really reminds me of the group Little Feat. Fantastic playing and singing. Derek Trucks electric bottleneck guitar playing on the outro of this song is mind boggling. It is among the most emotive and edgy that I have ever heard.
This band also released a song dedicated to their former keyboard and flute player Kofi Burbridge who passed away several years ago at 57. He was a musician blessed with “perfect pitch”. He was the older brother of Oteil Burbridge who was the bass player for The Allman Brothers Band from 1995 to their end in 2014. He now is he bass player for Dead and Company:

I know this band isn’t new but I have started listening to Greta Van Fleet. Surprisingly very good. Throwback band with Rush and Led Zeppelin sound.

I became aware of them back in 2018 and got a kick out of them. Very much a classic rock sound. I saw them play live in NYC in late 2018. They can absolutely play. Maybe not the most ”organic” band but good. They get way too much criticism In certain circles. Here is a song from their most recent album that I like:

Some new albums released today. Marcus King’s album “Young Blood” is out. Album is personal and dedicated to the “Power Trio” bands of the late 60s and early 70s. Some good stuff. This is “Pain”:

You are probably aware of Rick Beato and his YouTube Interviews. He has a recent one with Derek Trucks. His interviews are outstanding, from a musician's perspective. His interview of Maynard James Keenan may be the best interview of him ever. Watching is interview of Kim Thayil of Soundgarden, Krist Novoselic of Nirvana, and a producer of many Seattle bands and member of the seminal band Skinyard. Better than anything on TV.
Yes, I did see that and his interview with Trucks was fantastic. Beato is a great interviewer, he really can feel out the person. Trucks is a fairly “ inward” guy and Beato understood that and just let him talk and get comfortable and he really opened up. Beato is one of the great music people on YouTube, he knows his stuff.

Whether you are a Tool, A Perfect Circle or Puscifer fan or not, I highly recommend the interview with Maynard James Keenan. MJK is another very tough guy to get anything out of. While mostly a Tool fan, I gained an appreciation for A Perfect Circle, led by a guitarist from West Milford, NJ, Billy Howerdel.
Beato dug into two APC songs that I was not aware of, which are part of a concept album, Thirteenth Step, about different aspects and perception of addiction and recovery.
