Seems like 50% of new music are these anthemic tunes with a choir in the background and a wall of sound with the singer strumming an acoustic guitar. Where's the rage?
not in pop music. rage is to be tamed with just chill vibes man.

if you need something to get you up. sophie sure stirs something...

Goodness gracious that is awful. Auto-tune and digitized music is the worst with rock and metal. Makes it sound so artificial.

I read a WaPo article once about the formula for creating hits.
Having a choir singing in the song was part of it.
I was wondering how much Niall Horan actually plays.
I don't really know his career but a model/publisher I follow on Instagram (Brittany Martinez) liked him and posted hi new song.

Wow, what a pleasant surprise. New Extreme album coming June 9. First single. Interesting quote from guitarist Nuno Bettencourt:
“When Eddie Van Halen passed, it really hit me,” shares Nuno. “I’m not going to be the one who will take the throne, but I felt some responsibility to keep guitar playing alive. So, you hear a lot of fire on the record."

Smoldering guitar solo starting at 2:22 and lasting to 3:27.

@RU_DIO Two more new Extreme videos. Smoking:

Hey @bac2therac , how about starting a Beato thread and keeping this thread true to it's mission. It is one of few threads that has done well without getting derailed. Thanks.

Had not realized Natalie had made some new music. Really miss 10,000 Maniacs.

I like this single a little bit better, and a beautiful duet:

was big fan of Maniacs and her first few solo efforts but lost touch by the late 2000s and everything became too mellow for my tastes. Amazing how music changed where someone like her was the IT girl for a few years and then tossed aside....wash rinse repeat. We will never have rock influenced artists dominating mainstream ever again..its sad.

they arent new and Taylor is a huge sellout

his commentary about the Adele speaks volumes on how ****** he thinks todays music is
You are joking aren't you? They're both "new" for curmudgeonly oldsters like you and many others around here, who think everything post-2000 is crap (both really broke in 2008), plus they have very recent great albums that he has lauded - and he loves how Taylor said a big FU to corporate sleazebags who wouldn't give her access to her music by rerecording her old albums and improving them so fans will stream the new versions more. He also thinks a lot of today's biggest hits are crap, but don't take that as meaning he thinks all of today's music is crap, because he doesn't, as there are plenty of songs on his top ten reviews that he does like (and other non-pop music).

You are trying too hard and 2008 was 15 years ago

Has any other group lost their popularity as much as U2

Might be a controversial take but heard others say this as well.
I was an absolute U2 disciple from 1980 through about 1990, but especially through about 1985. I used to make the undergrads in the chem E lab listen to U2 in the early/mid 80s, as well as friends (before Joshua Tree's massive success) and people would look at me funny when I said they're going to be the biggest band ever (was saying this since about 82). If only I could've bought stock in them somehow, I'd be fabulously wealthy, lol. Saw them about 7-8 times pre-1984, including their first US tour in 1980. Still liked their post 1990 work, but was never a nut for them after that. Their first 3 albums were my favorite (Boy being my U2 favorite and top 5-10 alltime for me) and Ioved 4/5 too (Unforgettable Fire/Joshua Tree). I can kind of take or leave their work since 2000.

One of my new favorites from the New Pornographers who have been around awhile; this one features longtime band member Neko Case who also does solo stuff.
