He is expendable. Without question.

He is a glove-first utility infielder with no power, below average speed, and cannot play OF (so not a true utility man). Those guys are easy to find.
Actually, I don't think they are easy to find. LG played defense at a high level for a backup. Every guy the Mets attempted to use as a replacement for him we hyped to have all the qualities Doc said, but failed to meet any of them. I think LG is the scapegoat for other issues on the team. LG was the low-hanging fruit.

If we are talking expendable, it starts with the relievers, but that was never addressed. I bet if the Mets' bullpen held up their end of the bargain, we are not talking about LG. Also, the call-ups to replace LG when he was hurt didn't exactly set the world on fire or make us forget LG. If backups had the qualities Doc spelled out, they wouldn't be backups. They would be starters on someone's roster. 🤣

I did not stick around to watch the train wreck this year and don't know what to think about Guillorme, but the NY Post made a case that he was expendable.
Wait, you didn't stick around to watch the train wreck this year but NEVER missed an opportunity to call out whenever Vogey actually did something productive, usually in game as it was happening! Too funny. I love it when people try to rewrite history.

Ron Hodges - RIP !

Passed away at 74 of Cancer.

The eternal 3rd string /backup catcher.

Played all 12 years of his career with the Mets.

When i was a kid, I thought he was related to Gil Hodges.

I often wonder why Utley gets so much more respect that David. If you go down their seasons, CU had 5 seasons of what I would call HOF type years and David had 7. Utley just stuck around for 9 extra seasons after his last good year. Even Mattingly had 6 HOF type seasons.

If not for David and Don's bad backs- both would have been 1st ballet. Both of those guys were also just first class people as well.

No where near a HOF career

Stop embarrassing the HOF by suggesting Utley belongs in HOF when entire career was played in a whiffle ball stadium

I'm assuming that was not pointed at anyone on here- just in general

Can't beat those blood lines! We're also expected to sign one of the other top IFAs I believe. Forget who but I'll find it.

The one I was thinking of is Elian Pena but he will be in the 2025 IFA period so another year yet. He's getting a major bonus and considered one of the top signs for the year.

Did some research on Vladi and he is no where near the prospect his brother was at same time. Getting a lot less money. Vlad Jr got $3.9 million. For the cheap deal it's worth it though!

Don't want 5- give me 3-4 and very happy. then get the middle relief and a legit player at either 3B/DH or corner OF

$13M for Severino feels like an overpay. However, the Cardinals set the market for back-of-the-rotation guys with their signings of Lynn and Gibson. So I guess it isn't an overpay.

Severino is a head scratcher. If the Yankees didn't want him and their starters were just OK why should we?Don't like the deal at all, often injured and a head case. WTF?

One year deal. They took a risk that he can be healthy again. Was a good pitcher prior to last year. Don’t love it or hate it. What and see mode for me. Should be plenty more moves to make. Big difference if we are asking him to be a 5th starter or a third starter

Looking at Adams' resume, his claim to fame is that in 2021, he hit 24 batters in only 52.2 innings. Over four HBP per nine innings! Met fans (at least those on this board) have longed for a guy like that

Actually just read Mets signed Adams to a non guaranteed split contract
