Mets reported to have offered Tucker a short-term deal of some sort with an AAV of $50mm.
I am sure it will have mult mutual opt outs in it and Stearns will hope Tucker opts out after year 1.
Though, if I’m Tucker, I agree only if the Mets do not have an opt out. And if it is 4 years, Tucker would be crazy not to take it. He will get another decent contract after it and the side endorsement deals in NY would put it over the top.

I admittedly don't know a ton about Tucker, other than he's an average defensive outfielder.. i need to look into his offensive numbers more.

That said, i'd so much rather have Pete for 5 years at 30M/year PLUS starting pitching for another $20M/year, then to have Tucker for 50M/year.

It's not my money, i was hoping Cohen would be willing to do all of it, Pete, plus pitching, plus a guy like Tucker... but for the same $50M give me Pete, homegrown fan favorite who mashes, plus more pitching.

All this to say, the Mets need to hit on Tucker... can't miss him based on what's left out there

I was just thinking the same- give me Alonso and either a starter or even Diaz back over Tucker. And Nimmo/McNeil - Semien/Polanco is sort of a wash for me.

But the kicker is...outside of Semien, there is no "run prevention" player in any of his moves this year. And let's say we do get Tucker- he will have to play out of position, as will Polanco. "Run prevention" was a code word for - I don't want Pete.

MLB network began its Top 100 players (not prospects) rollout with #81-100. No Mets named yet. Edwin Diaz #83, which I thought was low, but relievers are not highly valued.

Soto is of course a Top 10 lock, and Lindor Top 25. Will any other Mets make it? Maybe Polanco? I doubt Semien makes it, nor any of the pitchers.

I don't want Pete was personal. I don't think it had much to do with baseball at all. That's a problem. It should be all about business.

I agree. the amount of love Mets fans show for players that have achieved absolutely nothing in terms of winning and have a stench of loser mentality with no leadership skills is remarkable.
So, you think Alonso and Diaz were part of losing? No one is really crying over McNeil or Nimmo. Pete had two of his best months at the end of the season when the Met's were losing. Diaz was money all year long.
Losing last year was 100% on starting pitching. And dropping Montas is pretty much the only loser the Met's got rid of in that group. And that doesn't move the needle.

You all fall into the gullible fans group that believe Pete was dropped because of run prevention and now- we lost with them, so they were losers.

I'm tired of this narrative that the guys gone were responsible for losing. Those who promote this lie are really in denial. Pitching was the issue all along. Too many Baghdad Bobs out there.

This group of Mets have players have always had a loser mentality. I forget the Braves player (Strider, I think) that commented once that even though the Mets were up in the standings, the players always played like they were losing. This group completely lacked leadership and killer instinct. I have been asking for a complete overhaul for many years. We are finally getting a complete makeover.

you put Pete and Diaz into this group? You are drinking very early today.

those are the two guys that put their everything into every single play. Crap- Pete is pissed off even if he misses an inning of playing time.

It is ok though- we have Vientos who has been a proven winner. And a winner mentality.

It is too funny that some of our "fans" buy into everything they hear. The loser mentality on the Met's came from starters who couldn't pitch 4+ innings, a GM who can't make trades and signs pitchers who have sucked for years and now an owner who is only concerned about the billions his casino is going to bring in.

Yes, we will see the Met's throw $50 mil at Tucker to try to keep us semi satisfied and to keep pulling the wool over the eyes of their lambs but deep down, it seems that Stearns most likely who hope Tucker goes elsewhere because he then saves money and face.

What is everyone's gut saying on Tucker?

Do we get him or does he go elsewhere?

Traded one of our better LHP prospects Franklin Gomez to Cleveland for IFA money. We needed some extra to fill this IFA class out as you have a certain pool number can can't go over. They lost some signing Soto last year since he was QO.

Wandy Asigen(SS) signing is official on IFA Day today!! Widely considered to be the #1 or #2 overall prospect in this class.
We have officially signed Cleiner Ramirez(OF), Pipeline's #23 prospect in this class. Bonus of $1,372,500.

Asigen got $3,9 million. Forgot to mention that earlier.

Stearns is a super d*ck!!! You're now offering Tucker a 4-year deal worth $200 million. Tucker is a walking injury waiting to happen. ROI would be criminal if Stearns goes through with this. Pete gave solid numbers while playing at least 155 games a season. Your availability is your best ability. Also, he is not as consistent as Soto in earning a similar salary. Stearns will never admit his ego is the problem.

The regrettable part is that 4 years from now- Pete would have hit 140+ HR with 420+ RBI and not miss more than 10 games total over that time and by that time a DH. Tucker will have hit 100 HR with 350 or so RBI and is a DH by that time and most likely miss more games per season than Pete does during 4 years.

My gut tells me he lands in LA- I understand they have raised their yearly number and giving a long term.

And yes- Soto is a much better player than Tucker
