No problem with the Jets picking a top OL. Not only does it help AR, it just makes the run game better. Grab another WR in the 2nd.
Time will tell.

My issue with taking an OL in round 1 is that Rodgers has a short window and it takes time for OL to develop.

The Jets signed 2 OTs in free agency and this guy will not even start.

I also think Bowers is going to be really really good ! .

One of the OT’s they signed is oft injured.

Draftee will be a high end depth player who likely gets playing time.

There will be some, if not many, starts needed at tackle.

In the last eight years, Smith has averaged missing 6 games a year. In the last four, he hasn’t played more than 13.

If this really is an all in year, they had to get an OT who could give them starts, and Fashanu can do that.

Plenty of guys who can be WR2 to Wilson available tomorrow.

6 QB, 7 WR. and 9 OL taken in the first round. That's 22 out of 32. There is no question what the NFL values: guys who throw the ball, guys who catch the ball, and guys who protect the guys who throw the ball.

No RB, no surprise. Ironic that RB is the most valued position in fantasy football, but is almost an afterthought in real football.

The run on CB hasn't yet materialized. Only three taken in the first round. I wonder if that will push Melton back a bit.

Melton's stats are better than the first 3 CBs selected, even though QBs would avoid his side for less opportunity for his stats. Basing a draft selection on speed alone isn't that great an idea IMO.

Melton seemingly has a decent shot to go in Round 2 now. ESPN has him ranked at the 21st best prosect available as of this morning. Would love to see him on the Giants. He fits what they need too.

Atlanta decisions the past year:
  1. We aren’t interested in Lamar Jackson
  2. We aren’t interested in Bill Belichick
  3. Kirk Cousins coming off a ACL injury for $100m guaranteed!
  4. One month later, Michael Penix Jr at #8!!
3 and 4 are interrelated considering Penix' injury history. Many on X questioned if he would be durable in the NFL. Kirk may have some company on the IL/IR or whatever the NFL calls it.

Eagles got lucky with CB Quinyon Mitchell at # 22

22. Philadelphia Eagles: Quinyon Mitchell, CB, Toledo - Grade: A

Never say an NFL decision-maker can't change his ways. First, Howie Roseman finally made a splashy running back signing this offseason by securing Saquon Barkley. Now, he broke the Eagles' first-round cornerback drought that dated back to 2002, when the team picked Lito Sheppard. Mitchell is a legitimate top-10 talent in this draft, with elite ball skills and the size, speed and composure to thrive in man coverage with more experience. The marriage of need and value is outstanding, and the Eagles didn't have to part with other picks to get here.

Several teams at the end of the first (Ravens were another one) that needed a CB were very lucky with how the draft played out.

Yep, RBs aren't getting hit in fantasy football and the career of NFL RBs are very short when compared to other positions. They need to get the big NFL money when they can and it's still there for them

I think he'll most likely go tonight. Wanted him on the Eagles if they went OL in the 1st, but don't think they'll double dip at CB and get him now.

If you play a dynasty format, RBs are not nearly as highly valued.

That last one reminds me of when Frank Langella was pissed at Kevin Costner in Draft Day!

Someone posted that as a Meme on X. It would take a while to find it. But it was hilarious.
Think at some point Penix will get the starting job. The question is how long will he last?

Agree, but I can't argue with either direction. I think the OLs they liked as first rounders were gone by 22, but they may have just prioritized DB over everything - and based on last season, not a bad choice.

Bill Belichick told a good story about trying to get Randy Moss to believe it was really Bill on the phone following a trade.

Ouch. Harbaugh turns down the opportunity to trade Herbert and get JJ?
So much for him saying JJ had the best Pro Day he's ever seen.

Reminder that xoaches will say anything to pump up their players.
Did he ever say JJ was better than JH?
CBS now has him 40th to Washington while Athlon has him 74th to Atlanta.

Hope CBS is correct.
Bunch of blow hards all around...neither of these two got it right.

More or less. Seems some teams called his bluff and made offers for Herbert.

“I think he’s the best quarterback in the draft,” said new Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh on Monday at the NFL owners meetings. “He plays quarterback the best of all the quarterbacks.”

“I’ve been to a lot of pro day workouts and watched quarterbacks - that’s the best I’ve ever seen a quarterback do at a pro day,” Harbaugh said on Monday.

Seems less than more. Saying someone had the pro day he's seen doesn't equate to being better than JH. Either way, I don't really care what he did or did not mean with his words.

Atlanta better win or else that front office will be known as one of the worst ever.

Saving their own jobs by working to pass on Bill B and then paying a QB 100 million guaranteed and drafting a 24 year old at number 8. I read they are not getting production from their last 2 number 1 selections either.
And that is exactly what they did.....pass on BB to protect their jobs. Blank should have fired them on the spot.

I suspect the black GM wanted a decently rated black QB for Atlanta market.
Personally I don't get all that in 2024 (I was playing with a black QB decades ago and watching Moon, Cunningham, Williams et al ) but it is still a thing for some.

Media commentators were rooting for Lamar Jackson in playoff game vs KC because (they said) Lamar was "more authentically black" than Mahomes (apparently Jackson's cornrows made a difference to them)
