Next three weeks will tell if the Padres are legit or not. 17 games with only 3 at Petco. Dodgers 7, Giants 4, D-Backs and Brewers 3 each. Pray that we can get near to .500 against this comp.

Rough stretch - even more so now that the Brewers are on a tear.

Absent an emergency, the Mets will give Mauricio much more time in the minors, after all his time off, before calling him up. But if/when they do, Acuna is in real danger of being sent down. His OPS is down to .590, as he has very little pop and overall hasn't been much of a hitter. I hope this puts to rest the fantasy created from 39 ABs last year that he somehow didn't care about performing well in the minors and would just suddenly care and become an excellent hitter in the majors. All that said, I am very curious on how things will play out this year with Mauricio.

They also need to see what some of the High A Brooklyn guys can do at a higher level. There are 3-4 of them that are hitting very well.

Doesn't help King got hurt.

They're interested in Duran from the Sox if they were to move him.

Looking at our upcoming in LA...I hate giving Blackburn his first start back against them and then game two with Megill. I feel a little better with Canning and Peterson but those first two could be rough.

The silver lining is that we are not facing their top starters...our bats need to show up and take advantage of it.

My sense is that Acuna and Jett Williams are essentially the same player. Mets may have to decide on one, and if so, I suspect it will be Williams.

If the Mets do send Acuna down, that's his last option year. Mets will have some decisions to make on him come 2026.

I would add that this is also Mauricio's last option year. Decision day is coming on him as well.

Williams's stats in the minors are markedly better than Acuna's in just about, if not, every offensive category. He just hasn't seen AAA yet.

The Mets have decisions coming, but I expect them to be patient, give the players a chance and then another chance, and then make decisions if/when they have to be made. Stearns has shown patience and a penchant to believe and follow the Mets own independent analysis.

Acuna was never in the same prospect class as Jett. Jett can actually hit also.

You follow this much much closer than I do (and I appreciate it). Only 20% of top 30 prospects are at AAA. Is that low or typical when compared to all other clubs?

Except if Acuna’s role is late inning defense and stealing bases, I don’t see Mauricio filling that role. Marte might be the one in danger.

It really varies by organization but I'd say it's generally typical to have them spread out. Some AAA teams will get stacked with prospects but for a club to have a lot of their big prospects right at the doorstep at the same time doesn't happen too often. You also have a lot of players flame out as they move up the ladder towards the higher levels so you have that natural player dilution occurring in your farm. Not everyone will make it to the majors.

The Red Sox would have had it this year if Campbell didn't make the team out of ST. They would have Anthony, Campbell, Mayer all in AAA. Now just Anthony is left and many consider him to the best prospect in baseball currently.

One of my men played pro ball internationally and had a friends who made it to the Show. He said while there are some there just to fill out the roster, AA guys are the ones the parent club hopes/expects to make it.

Dbacks are in a bad way. Had lost 9 of 10 going into the weekend and then Corbin Burnes is down. Probably for a long stretch if not the rest of the season or longer if he needs Tommy John.

People may want to knock the size of the contracts with Lindor and Soto- but they are paying for themselves bigtime...
I have quietly joked about his production for what he is being paid, but hopefully, he was just getting warmed up and hitting his stride.

Don’t the A’s (and the Rays too) play in a minor league facility?

Of course they are going to be way at the bottom. Especially after the novelty wears off.
Yes, at the A's facility you have to exit the clubhouse and walk outside the stadium to enter the dugout. As minor league parks go, it looks like a nice one to see a game at if it's your local team, but not good for MLB teams. Maybe it keeps everyone humble though.

Fun fact - the A's are one of only two teams who have not adopted the City Connect uniforms. For obvious reasons - at present, they have no city with which to connect.

Anybody care to take a wild guess as to the other team?

Actually, they were. In the 2023 MLB Pipeline preseason rankings, Acuna was #71 and Williams was not in the top 100. In 2024, Williams was #45 and Acuna was #66.

Acuna was a big time prospect.
I should have clarified that better but not in my opinion.

I generally can't stand the City Connect uniforms, but I think the Cubs' version this year is better than in the past and I like what the Mets incorporated into their design. But I do realize it's not directed at my demographic.

I still like the Mets better than Boston, but I understand the significance. Texas was kind of cool this past weekend. The only reason I know that was because I was rooting against the Cardinals. 😀

Boston actually has two City Connects - the yellow one which is kinda garish, and a new sage green model which is an exact match to the Green Monstah. I like that one.

The city connects doesn’t work well with cities with 2 teams. Just not a fan. Have, home, away, black and throwback…that is all
And don’t usually like black but it is better than the rest

Don’t like this away one at all.

This game is super tense. I thought Vientos got one in the 8th but it just didn't carry at all. Then I was even sure that Muncy had one off Stanek in the Dodgers half of the 8th but same thing. My heart dropped when it left his bat. Would be great to get an insurance run here in the 9th.
