Yesterday’s wasted effort are games that force Senga and/or Manaea to pitch extra games instead of maybe skipping a start or two. Being up 5-6 games on a playoff spot could lead Mets to give a few starters extra rest.
Phillies went 7-0 vs Rockies. Any loss to these teams should be seen as unacceptable. 3-4 teams in the league are putting out a starting 9 with 3 guys max that should be in the majors right now.
You are quite the purveyor of gloom and doom!!

Met's just took 2/3 against the Dodgers and again against the WhiteSox...And that is while not hitting. So, I am far from falling into this negative mode so many seem to be it...If the Phillies were not going wild, we would still be in very good shape. In the NL it is the Phillies/Cubs then Met's & Dodgers. All within 2 games.

But it's almost June.
But his slow start is on pace for a ****** 100 run, 75 RBI 25HR pace.
And we all recognize he has started slow.

I don’t think anyone believes he will hit .220 or so tge rest of the way so there is a very good chance he ends up better than 100/25/75

It is the money that make it worse. I’m not defending him but even a completely ****** year ends up productive for him.

Its all about putting together wins for the final standings. The who/when/how are less important now. September is when you want your team playing well, so the Mets are in good shape right now, just win.

I will state the obvious. We desperately need lefty relievers!
Actually I don't think it's obvious at all. Is a lefty reliever a desperate need, or a nice to have?
  1. No one NEEDS a lefty reliever per se. Teams have won without them. What you need are pitchers who can get tough lefty hitters out. We have righty pitchers who can do that, at least they have done it so far.
  2. WIth the three-batter rule, the value of the LOOGY is greatly diminished, although not eliminated.
  3. But let's say you're right, let's say we desperately need lefty relievers. What's the definition of desperate? Meaning we need one right now? If so, how much are you willing to overpay? Because if you go shopping in May, you will surely overpay. Very few teams will commit to being sellers (I.e., throw in the towel) this early in the season. Supply is limited and the market is thin. It will be more robust in two months.
  4. Maybe Brooks Raley will be available after the all star break. Maybe.

Doctor, I disagree. We need to replace Waddell and Castillo in order to go far this season.

Mauricio has been on quite the heater since going back to AAA.

A lot of great to really good pitching performances yesterday as well. Tidwell had the 2 runs given up but Dedniel Nunez let them in so attached to Blade. Tong keeps humming along but watching the walks as he is giving up too many. Something for him to tackle next in his development. Santucci has been excellent his last 3 starts in Brooklyn.

Well, last night was a pretty good baseball night for Met fans! Lindor doing what he does, Soto with a couple of hits, Peterson with another very strong outing and Diaz now looking like the top closer in BB.
Phillies lose, Atlanta loses and the "other" team loses. Just wish they didn't let The betting man hit 2 HR's!

You mean former all star Alexis Diaz? Reds just sent him down to AAA. Just shows how volatile relief pitching is, and how valuable the consistent ones are.
Reds sent him down a while ago. They did however just trade him to the Dodgers for not much.

PCA scare you away from this ??
Not sure but Skenes game 1
Senga 2
Manaea 3

Is pretty damn good !!

At this point, even
Skenes
Senga
Peterson,
Holmes

Would be daunting…speaking of which, do we know when Manaea is going to be back. If he comes in how he pitched last year, wow.

Pirates are not trading Skenes at least not this year.

Manaea threw a live BP yesterday. He's going to begin his minor league rehab in early June.

Montas has already begun his minor league rehab so a few weeks ahead of Manaea.

Blackburn will enter the rotation for now as the 6th starter and then shuffle off to the pen at some point probably when Montas gets back. If everyone still healthy when Manaea also gets back then Mendoza and Stearns will have some maneuvering to do.

Some more great pitching from starters yesterday with Thornton, Dohm, and Moreta.

Bing and Brooklyn were short because of rain. DSL starts today so we'll start getting some numbers from big big bonus baby Pena.

I wouldn’t expect the Pirates to trade him with still having this much control over him. They may consider it after 2026

While I was kind of OK with signing Montas when we felt our starters were very questionable, I’m not sure his best is at the level of any of our current starters 1/3 of the way through the season. I think I start Montas in the pen. Manaea, different story. Megill and Canning should pitch their next couple of starts like they are trying to make the team.

White Sox (18-39) followed by the Rockies (9-48}...both at home.
I smell a winning streak.
So the elite teams shouldn't feast on the weak teams? Crying since you're playing the big bad Dodgers? lol Ask the league if they can eliminate the 5th inning in the 3 game set. 😎PS. We took 2 of 3.
