Agree. I would certainly be willing to include Vientos in the right package, as I don't like rostering players whose best position is DH. But I am not at all sure that Robert is an upgrade over Taylor at this point.

Taylor is not a great hitter, but neither is he a 7 for 67 hitter. He will revert to what he is, which is OK if the rest of the lineup is strong enough to carry him.

Not being negative. Stealing wins is good.

But when you bring your closer into a one run game...
And he faces four batters...
And three of those batters hit 100+ rockets...
And one of those rockets would have been a HR in 29 of the 30 MLB parks...
And you somehow escape...
Well, IMHO you stole that game. If I were to be criticized for that post, I would have thought it would be for making a statement of the obvious.
The Mets also played solid defense in the 9th, including Soto holding Lee to a double by taking a terrific angle on his ball off the wall and quickly getting it back into the infield, and Pete's catch on the liner. There was also a whole game beforehand, including Marte tatooing a liner directly to the left fielder with two on and two out in the first, and the Mets killing it defensively while the Giants couldn't catch a cold.

Stole the game is a descriptive way to address the ninth inning when Diaz was hanging his slider all over the place. But the Mets played a better game and won it.

Two beautiful controlled level swings by Alvarez !!! Line drive to center and rocket the other way !! Mauricio with another line drive to bring in Alvarez !!

Senga not on tonight but still holding giants to 1 run thru 4

Giants with RISP were 0 for the series. 0 for 23 to be exact.

Nobody autocorrects like Edwin Diaz. First four hitters he is all over the place. Then suddenly he is not only throwing strikes, he is throwing unhittable strikes.

On Mauricio’s last hit, did anyone else think he had his cycle but then it bounced straight to the OF. BTW- why did the pinch run for him?

Btw- if our new pitcher Soto can stay in the strike zone- his stuff is nasty

for Diaz- his bit of wildness just makes his nasty stuff more unhittable

It is almost impossible to hit a ball into the left field corner and get a triple out of it. It would require a misplay, but not so egregious that the fielder is charged an error.

Vientos says trade , my A$$

Tells steroid boy Tatis to try and catch that one !!!!!

Soto avoided GIDP by putting head down and running full speed to first , stole second , they walked McNeil , then salami time

Should have taken Brazoban out right when he decided to be a spectator on the ground ball tha Alonso flagged down behind 1st. Do your job! Set up the last 2-3 runs that scored.

It was so high up that I thought the ball could have have bounced back over the OF head. But obviously didn't.

Mets had no one warming up at the time. Why would they? Brazoban had retired his first hitter and seemed to be in control. His meltdown occurred after his brain fart.

Brazoban has been overworked, and it's starting to show. Typical of relievers who have good stuff, but are unpredictable. This falls on the bench coach, who had to make decisions usually reserved for the manager. Then again, I think Mendoza would have done the same thing.:( One thing I know is that this is Montas' first and only season with the Mets, unless he has an unbelievable last two months and a strong postseason.

Weird game last night. That home plate ump was wild. If the pitcher threw a pitch that landed in the upper deck behind home plate against Soto, it probably would have been a strike. These are accurate and fair!:
