The Mets also played solid defense in the 9th, including Soto holding Lee to a double by taking a terrific angle on his ball off the wall and quickly getting it back into the infield, and Pete's catch on the liner. There was also a whole game beforehand, including Marte tatooing a liner directly to the left fielder with two on and two out in the first, and the Mets killing it defensively while the Giants couldn't catch a cold.

Don't think Maurcio is a slouch runner, but Acuna is a speed burner.
Plus Acuna was probably coming in for defense anyway.
It is almost impossible to hit a ball into the left field corner and get a triple out of it. It would require a misplay, but not so egregious that the fielder is charged an error.
Why settle for Juan Soto when you can have two?
It was so high up that I thought the ball could have have bounced back over the OF head. But obviously didn't.
Mets had no one warming up at the time. Why would they? Brazoban had retired his first hitter and seemed to be in control. His meltdown occurred after his brain fart.
Brazoban has been overworked, and it's starting to show. Typical of relievers who have good stuff, but are unpredictable. This falls on the bench coach, who had to make decisions usually reserved for the manager. Then again, I think Mendoza would have done the same thing.
One thing I know is that this is Montas' first and only season with the Mets, unless he has an unbelievable last two months and a strong postseason.
