Mets had no one warming up at the time. Why would they? Brazoban had retired his first hitter and seemed to be in control. His meltdown occurred after his brain fart.
I would hardly say in control. That ball was tattooed and was a great stop by Alonso. But failure to do your job. It's one thing to give up runs because the batter just beats you. That's baseball. But to stand there watching as your teammate sells out to make a great play; that was inexcusable. It was the equivalent of a runner on first and a ground ball goes in the direction of the SS who makes a diving stop in the hole and the 2B were to just stand there watching him instead of breaking towards 2nd base. It's something that should be automatic. It just was aggravating to me. There is not a day of practice pre or in-season where they do not drill that play. I can remember when and I dont know e who was the manager then, but whenever there was a ball hit right to or either to the left or right of the 1B there was someone who you could always hear on the broadcast yelling Get Over!!!

Have to believe him being a spectator had something to do with that. I'm sure it angered management. Both those in the dugout and the higher ups.
Impossible to know, but I disagree. Mets only have two optionable relievers, Brazoban and Garrett, and Garrett isn't going anywhere.

Killed in this series by the catcher with the .200 b.a. While our key guys have come up small in similar situations.

One of only four hits in a piss poor offensive performance. Padres play hard, and as if every play is to win the World Series.
Wednesday should help. Darvish has been hurt most of the year and he has not been good since he came back and has an ERA over 9.00.
The Pods desperately need Michael King back.

I included a new section that shows the draftees from this year and also the new UDFA we signed post draft. I'm sure most of the pitchers won't debut at all but as the batters get assigned I'll try to include them. All of our draftees signed except for 1. I will notate the round they were selected in for those guys so you have an idea.

The FCL season is over so I'm not sure if they'll move Lantigua to St. Lucie or have him stay in the after season FCL league that goes on that is unofficial.

The list was updated to reflect the new Pipeline updates from last week.

Does anyone know when 1st rounder Mitch Voit is slated to start his career? I think I read that he would be starting in St. Lucie.

Soon but no one from the organization has come out and given a date. Jimenez who was drafted early as well just made his debut yesterday as mentioned above. Yes St. Lucie will be likely.

Butto Tidwell and Gilbert, seems like a lot.
That's way too much to give up for an impending free agent reliever. On top of that, Mets aren't going to go far in the playoffs. You can't win in the playoffs when you can't hit with RISP.

Think it’s time to skip Holmes a time thru the rotation and give McLean or tong a start
Holmes needs a reset/refresh

Mets will probably go with Blackburn instead

So to cheer you up courtesy of @RutgersNJ . (Surprised that he is so shy on the Mets thread as he is certainly not on the Yankees thread)
Great baseball story. Mets should have moved up and drafted this guy.
