OT: NY Mets 2025 Season Thread

This team need to be dismantled. A veteran team should never collapse this badly.
Dismantling this team, even if desirable (which I do not concede) is not possible.
This core has blown too many leads late in the season and collapsed way too often in the past 5-7 years. They don't deserve another chance. We need to build around Soto and the young core who are ready to contribute.
To repeat, it is not possible. Lindor cannot be moved. Nimmo cannot be moved. Manaea cannot be moved. MAYBE you can move McNeil and/or Holmes, if you are willing to eat a good chunk of salary.
The realistic question is: are you willing to let Alonso and Diaz walk? Well I know YOU are, but are the Mets?
Lindor and Nimmo have enough trade value to be moved. Maybe Cohen has to eat some of the money, but they can be moved and should be moved. They will bring back prospects back in return as well. Marte won't be back. McNeil can be moved. Alonso, Senga and Diaz do not need to be resigned. Manea and Holmes can be moved to the bullpen. Megill doesn't need to be resigned. There needs to a complete change in culture of this team. We need to bring in players and a manager who have a winning mentality. We need players who won't accept losing without getting upset.
I hate what's happening right now but this is quite the post. The last two sentences really take the cake. I know it's hard to believe and most of you will hate this post but we're still setting up as an organization to be doing the correct thing. This year is unfathomable after the loss tonight but we're still not out of this.
Let's see what happens and then we can debate moves all off-season.
With so much of today's violence blamed on the media and TV, it's amazing our generation didn't grow up blind from the antics we learned from The 3 Stooge's.
Needed this game, but bullpen blew the game again. It is very difficult to trust this team.

So- let's trade a HOF SS in the prime of his career on the verge of his 2nd 30/30 top 5 MVP, elite glove, for prospects? Nimmo- the thing is, he is not a superstar but what do you get to replace him? Marte is gone. McNeil- ehh either way- I am ok if we trade him now that Baty and Vientos finally look like MLB players. Alonso/Diaz - who is replacing either of them? Heck- if we are trading Lindor, why stop there, let's get prospects for Soto and eat most of his contract too. Who needs a selfish 40/40 guy on the team?
Starting pitching is the problem. And maybe Sproat is the real deal- we are seeing that it looks like McLean is a possible ACE.
But is Lindor really in the prime of his career? Or is he at the point where, like many if not most great shortstops, he needs to be moved to another position?
His Defensive Runs Saved (DRS) statistics suggest the latter. For 2025, he is currently a Minus 5 - meaning he lets in more runs than he saves. Only seven shortstops rank below him.
That said, I am leery of stats which I don't understand. I am not saying this is the be all and end all. But my personal eye test supports it.
THAT said, Lindor ain't going anywhere .

This is the kind of thinking that has held this team back for the past several years. Sure these guys put up numbers but they aren’t winning players. Too often they don’t produce in the clutch (last year not withstanding). Too often the team underachieves despite the stats put up by those guys. It’s time for a wholesale change.
Arizona knocked off SF and are now our closest competitors at 1.5 back. But more importantly all of AZ, SF, Cinn are 2 back in the loss column. Just win games. Hopefully yesterday might be the start of a streak on the plus side.
James McCann has hit homers in consecutive days for the D-backs. I had no idea he was still in the majors. He got Lucchesi yesterday.
Since I have a pure bias against hitters that are 100% DH being and MVP- as they only play half a game- who has been the best baseball player in the NL?
