Mets up 6-1 and cubs have made 5 great plays to save runs .
If wind was blowing just 5mph out the Mets might have 15 runs already

Put it in the books! So glad the pen stopped the bleeding. If this one had gotten away might as well not played the weekend. Of course the Marlins have their 3 best starters lined up.

On Tuesday my attitude was win the next two series, and we will take our chances. Still feel that way. Go 2-1 against the Fish and I am confident we will be playing next week. If the Reds get the sweep in Milwaukee, then I tip my cap.

It is now down to Mets, Reds, and Dbacks. Mets up 1 on Reds, up 2 on Dbacks. All others eliminated.

Mets @ Marlins, Reds @ Brewers, Dbacks @ Padres.

This I know for certain. I'd rather play the Marlins. No matter how "pesky" they are.

The Mets put themselves in this position. Win 2 of 3 and that forces Cin to sweep and eliminates Az.
If we can’t win 2, completely do not deserve to be in.

hard to believe there won’t be a 100 game winner in mLB this year.

On paper, the Mets have the easiest opponent. Yet the Mets often find ways to struggle against the Marlins.

Too bad they Mets will be in Miami in an empty stadium with little juice, will need to create their own energy

That is why today's game is maybe the biggest game of the year. Win today and most likely only need to split our last two games. And win tonight, and we have a chance to slam the door. We lose tonight, we then have our backs against the wall and need to win the final 2 with two of our ****** starters

Who would ever think that if someone had a quiz that only 3 teams in history have had teammates in the 30/30 club together and twice, it was done by the same team - and the answer would be the Mets.

McLean will maintain his rookie eligibility for next year unless they bring him out of the pen this weekend and he throws 2 innings.

I agree that if we win 2 out of 3 this weekend, you tip your cap to the Reds if that's not good enough. It would be nice to eliminate Arizona tonight and get them out of the equation.

The funny thing is, it wouldn't surprise me if the Mets, Reds, and DBags all lost tonight. It would surprise me if they all won.

Agree. It will be a small but pro-Mets crowd. First thing im interested in is who the Padres and Brewers will pitch this weekend. Their regular guys or just some fill-ins. We know the Marlins are throwing their best. For the integrity of the game i hope the others do the same and dont just lie down. I know, I know. Integrity yeah right.

If Mets advance, the biggest game of the season will IMO be the Edwin Diaz "gotta be the shoes" miracle escape against the Reds. Had we lost that game and gotten swept, we would be in deep doo-doo.

I will add the perspective of a life long Reds fan. The Reds NEVER beat the Brewers. The Mets seems to be in good shape to me. Losing 2/3 to the Pirates at home sealed our fate. I thought the Reds needed to be a game up heading into this weekend. The Reds are 25-49 vs. Milwaukee in the past five seasons. If you avoid getting swept, I sadly think the Mets get in.

All bets are off after the Cubs laid down last weekend to the tune of 4 game sweep.

So the Mets lost to a team lying down?
That series at Wrigley Field had a lot of juice for both teams. You could tell by the reaction of the Cubs in the game they won. Like Crow-Armstrong with his suble trash talking move when he scored on the wild pitch. And the way the crowd was at a pitch last night. They would have wanted nothing more than to have been the reason the Mets missed out on the playoffs. It's Chicago. It's New York.

So then, you ascribe to the conspiracy theory that everyone hates the Mets, everyone wants to beat the Mets, and that teams are even willing to tank if it hurts the Mets?

It's not just the Mets. It's New York teams in general if they're good. LA, Chicago, Atlanta fans etc hate the Yankees in the same way. Now as for tanking thats you saying that. I will say that certain teams and their fans get more fired up to play certain other teams. But I would hope you know that also.
