Things are going to get interesting when McNeil gets back- I am hoping they just drop this new OF'er and keep both Baty and Acuna up with the team.

Maybe.

Will check in with my Son.

BlueClaws do it nice, they give you the Cyclones roster when asked, so you can see who’s who.

FYI… for local Met fans this is the only appearance of the Cyclones down here for the whole season.

For those a little north and closer to Rutgers, AA Binghamton is only in Somerset in early August.

I’ve really started to think about that pitching lab. I mean, Canning?!
I mentioned when they developed the lab how it was going to play a big part in the organization going forward. Stearns also has an eye for pitching considering his Milwaukee teams seemed to always find and develop arms. It can be a real strength to sign wayward pitchers and fix them a bit even if we don't always hold on to them like Seve. They can sign guys for cheaper and point them to more and more success stories that we can get you fixed a bit and onto the market for further FA gains. I bet they used Seve as an example a few times this off-season and going forward hopefully even more to point to.

That said it is only April so Canning and some of the others can really fall back into old habits as the season moves on so I need to also see it play out even though I'm excited about it. Then again I am only a fan so why can't I be!

A lot of interesting bats and arms so have a good time if you do!

I haven't really been paying attention, but what do you think the team saw in him?

ERA throughout his career is bad. WHIP looks OK maybe? A couple seasons where K/BB ratio is good.

Does his stuff suggest untapped potential?

Rube Walker was the original instructor way back when for the previous version of the Lab.

Canning was a second round pick initially. Maybe he just needed the right fit to figure things out. But a pattern is emerging with Mets reclamation guys.

Yes it did. Getting him to the right combination is key as well as some adjustments to when to throw pitches.

If McNeil and Alvarez come out of today's game healthy they're both going to be activated on Friday. McNeil is playing CF today for Syracuse.

My guess is Senger and Azocar get moved down at that point. Even though I forget if Azocar has options so its possible they need to DFA him.

At a press conference on Monday, Stearns was asked about CF. He mentioned four names - Taylor, McNeil, Nimmo, and Acuna. He didn't mention Azocar. So I assume he will go down. He is out of options and will have to clear waivers.

Hard to believe we got out of the 10th only giving up 1 run...

BTW- so weird that it feels like our starters have had a horrible day if they give up 2 runs
