Padres win in 10 1-0. Jose Iglesias GW RBI and then made a great backhand play on an 110 MPH shot to save the win.

Way to go Butto!

Let’s hope all is ok with Vientos

Looked like a hammy.

Mets need a lefty reliever badly.

What a game.! A fans delight and manager's deluxe. Feel good about our chances to get at least a split now.

I'd guess that it's too early given how much time he was away. But I'm just a guy on the internet.
I tend to agree so curious to see how they play it. Will depend on how they think he's moving around, can handle major league action, how body is responding etc. He has had the hot week or so after being awful in his pre AAA rehab games so I'll be looking at my tweets intently later to see what news is coming out of LA.

Manaea pitched a bullpen session yesterday not sure it was mentioned. They're going to determine if he needs another or go out on a minor league rehab assignment right away.

Mendoza said Blackburn will move to the bullpen after yesterday. I would imagine that means they stick with a 6 man and Montas enters in?

If both Montas and Manaea come back strong- it could set us up to really massage the starters so we have a bunch of strong arms 2nd half and playoffs.

I was thinking about Lindor just now- Not only will he end up the best SS in NYM history, what does he have to do to be the best ever? I wanted to lean on championships, but that may not be fair- he is a consistent "true" GG guy, he will most likely end up with 1500 runs 1400 RBI, 400 HR 350 SB
The only true SS to compare would be Jeter and he will end up with more runs, hits and rings but was not even close to the power or fielding.

going to be fun to watch when we get to that point that Vientos, Mauricio, Alvarez, Baty are all hot at the same time.

I'd say A-Rod/Banks are probably the ones you'd consider the "best ever" combining both power hitting and defense... Jeter's defense was pretty below average and Jose Reyes' hitting peak wasn't long or consistent enough. Only reason A-Rod even switched positions was because he joined the Yankees with Jeter already in place there, and he was a much better SS than Jeter. Reyes gets a lot of **** from Mets fans for leaving and his off-field issues, but man he was awesome at basically everything once he started hitting for power - peak Jose vs any SS in history at their peak, and probably only A-Rod is there with him.

Why is that needed? Also- Mauricio has zero shot of playing SS. BTW- as much as I want to bust on Volpe at times- he is having a bad year and on pace for 90 Runs/RBI nearly 20 HR etc and he is good in the field. Just saying
plus can't hate on Volpe, he's from Watchung

Can't put either of them up there as we are talking Shortstop position...AROD/Banks both played less than 1/2 their careers at SS and Lindor will pass their SS numbers.
JR had a great 4 year run and a very solid career - And I loved watching him play...nothing like him hitting a ball in the gap where he thought he could get a triple. But, not sure he had a run like Lindor in Clev and here since moving to leadoff.
AROD- not doubt - he would have put all SS number out of reach for everyone- but that would be tarnished.

Going by fWAR Lindor is already #15 at SS from 1900-Current with primary position at SS. Defense plays a role in fWAR and obviously the defensive value is harder to judge from the past to now where we have different methods so keeping that in mind it's still impressive considering his age. He should end up top 5 at this pace but of course anything can happen. For reference giving the top 20 and then Reyes finished with 43.8 which is #29.

  1. Honus Wagner - 127.2
  2. A-Rod - 113.6
  3. Cal Ripken Jr. - 92.5
  4. Derek Jeter - 73.0
  5. Luke Appling - 72.6
  6. Arky Vaughan - 72.4
  7. Ozzie Smith - 67.6
  8. Barry Larkin - 67.0
  9. Joe Cronin - 66.6
  10. Robin Yount - 66.5
  11. Lou Boudreau - 64.4
  12. Alan Trammell - 63.7
  13. Ernie Banks - 63.3
  14. Pee Wee Reese - 61.2
  15. Francisco Lindor - 57.1
  16. Willie Wells - 56.2
  17. Joe Tinker - 55.5
  18. Jimmy Rollins - 49.7
  19. Dave Bancroft - 49.3
  20. Luis Aparicio - 49.1

I've never enjoyed watching someone play for an opposing team more than I did Barry Larkin. He was just incredible. Robin Yount was up there too although I didn't see him nearly as much because he was in the AL.

All of these WAR's and other advanced stats just grind at my old time baseball self. lol
I mean, I get it, back when Appling/Reese etc type guys played, it was a different game.

But, let's really do a true eyeball.
Wagner- just hard to say anything against him as even Beaced didn't see him play...but maybe he will always deserve number 1.
I actually feel that Jeter owns the spot right now. I know that so many kill him for defense but while he may not have been great- he was always in the right place at the right time. And his lifetime and yearly stats are just so consistently good to great.
AROD- roids and more than half his career at 3B, Ripken, tons of his stats are 3B. Appling/Vaughn???? Ozzie- he was a magician but how much was aided by the turf (to be fair, he would have been a great fielder regardless) - but dude became a better hitter but since Lindor is a really good fielder, Lindor is better. Larkin- love him but not better. Cronin??? Yount- played a lot of OF but he wasn't better even when at SS.
Broudreau??? Trammel- Loved him but not better- just a very long career, Banks- majority of his career was not at SS

I do think Lindor is pushing that top 5 at this point. If he can find an MVP...hmmmmm

A bit surprised about Kranick going down, but I guess they wanted the second lefty in the pen. They must like Waddell more than I thought.
