You have got to be kidding me with this starting pitching. Just terrible!

Holmes was not a mistake. We have a good starter signed for cheaper than most. We knew there would be some pain managing the innings going from RP to SP but overall he's been a positive benefit to the team.
This is the new Mets top 30 since they did an update this week. Benge now #1 overall. 4 of our 2025 draft picks now on the top 30 from Pipeline including Voit at 9, Jimenez at 18, Kussow at 27, and Lohman at 30. We won't see Kussow or Lohman in game action this season.
Pipeline has the Mets farm ranked #7 as Colbert posted. Not bad considering the pieces we also dealt at the deadline.
Lots of level debuts yesterday from all the promotions.

Ok, let the funk end and the consistent winning begin. No way they were as bad as they looked. Last night's game hopefully is the turn around.With another Yankees win and Mets loss, the Yanks will have a better winning percentage and kbee will finally come out of hiding.He already did this earlier this season. Seriously, it's hard to believe the Mets are really this bad. I can see them coming out of this funk, reeling off 8 out of 10, securing a post season spot and then who knows, come October. LFGM!!!
biggest free agency mistake was not going after an ace level pitcher and keep trying for "vets with potential to fix up" instead of going hard after one of the bonafide aces (that maybe could become even more elite with the pitching lab). And yes Burnes got hurt, but TJ can happen to any pitcher during any pitch.
Mets calling Paul Blackburn up for bullpen role

Blackburn will replace Hagenman. But who goes on Saturday to make room for McLean? Do they DFA Blackburn then? Stanek? Montas (highly unlikely)? Does someone suddenly suffer an injury? The only optionable reliever left is Garrett, and I doubt he's going anywhere.
Another factor is that starting next Tuesday, the Mets play 16 in a row without an off day. They will almost certainly go to a six man rotation to accommodate Senga. Do they add Blackburn to the rotation? Do they reinstate Montas? Do they bring up Sproat - in which case, someone else has to go?
I'm good on all the possible let go names you've mentioned, lol. Give a couple of the kids a shot.
For postseason success (which is really all I care about anymore 4 decades in waiting), I’m sticking with mistake. Him going 3 or 4 innings in a big playoff start isn’t going to cut it.
Actually, with all the postseason off days and layoffs between series, four solid innings DOES cut it in the postseason. In this modern era, bullpens win championships.
It was assumed he would be going to the pen for postseason this year most likely anyways.
I doubt that it was an assumed outcome, but it was a possibility.
You're correct the postseason part is obviously not assumed. I should have stated a transition to pen by August/September was more of the assumed outcome.
Stearns has stated recently he doesn't really believe in innings limits as long as all the data they are tracking leads them to believe that they can keep going. This is both on and off the field data. The eye test should tell them Holmes does seem to be wearing down a bit as we are moving throughout the season.
