Obviously this would be a crushing loss. Even moreso in light of the fact that the Phillies got crushed tonight. So let's see what they're made of.

If that doesn't put the S in Slllllllow! The plus is that Marte continues to produce. Hard to find something positive in a game like this though.

I have said it for the past 2 years about "Hefner" - while everyone was loving how some hasbeens came here and got better- our team went from a pitching staff that never walked anyone to a team that gives up near the worst in the league each of the past couple of years. I had wondered if that was part of what he teaches- not to walk guys but movement and not allowing batters to get good swings is more important than throwing strikes. As the other thing I notice, we usually are not giving up many HR's.

But this **** with the starters needs to be figured the F out. And maybe Stearns needs to look again on how he does things...I loved bringing Manaea back but giving Montas all that money, was crazy. I am ok with Holmes and feel his year 2 will be better than year one. But would have been nice to have one more proven starter on this team. I would have much more preferred to see Seve back here than bringing in Montas. And of course it is happening now that Pete/Lindor/Nimmo/Soto seemed to have found their bats again.

BTW- I don't get to watch most games or listen to the radio- I have to follow online with gameday. What is up with Vientos/Mauricio? Has McNeil/Baty just become the starting 2B/3B?

Baty is playing much better and his defense is the best of this lot. McNeil, has been heating up as of late.
I haven't given up on Vientos, I'll chalk it up to the old baseball adage, The Sophomore Jinx. I think Mauricio is the real deal but missing a whole year hurt his development. At 6'4" he's the tallest everyday player on the team and once he adds more muscle and weight {roster lists him at 166lbs}, I think he's going to produce 30+ HR's a year. I hope this doesn't stop the Mets from signing Pete long term, say 5 years, tops, then reevaluate from there. I really want Pete to spend his entire career with the orange and blue.

I think at least one of Baty, Mauricio, Vientos is moved in the offseason. And I think depending on what happens with Alonso my guess is Vientos. Although with Marte also on an expiring contract I believe, I suppose there could be an opening at DH next year. Personally I wouldn't be mad if they offered say Vientos, McNeil and a prospect in an attempt to get a frontline veteran starter. Then open up 2B and CF to Williams, Benge respectively. I guess they could also keep Vientos and have him and Mauricio in a lefty/righty platoon at DH with Winker also sitting out on what is a one year deal. The lineup could be something like(top 4 remain the same in some order) 5. Vientos/Mauricio, 6. Alvarez, 7, Baty, 8, Benge, 9. Williams.

I can see this, but I fear Vientos will turn into Justin Turner 2.0

Two blown 5 run + leads in 3 games. You can't make that up. We are unwatchable right now.

My 3 favorite sports team (in order) are:
1. RU Football
2. NY Mets
3. RU Men's basketball

Does anyone else suffer like we do?

It's pretty much an epic collapse at this point. From 21 games over. 500 to 7 games over and probably out of playoff position by the end of August.

No worries , every coach is safe , you can be in charge of one the worst pitching staffs in the league and the proud owner of a 124 year record for futility !!

Go sign a f—king pitcher that can go 7 innings

The pitcher who leads the majors in innings pitched per start is Bryan Woo of the Mariners, whom we will see this weekend. He averages 6,1 innings (six and one-third) per start.

Some things not even Steve Cohen's money can buy.

And even if he could, you really ought to ask him nicer than that, don'tcha think?

Jett on base in every AB last night. Reimer hit a walkoff HR for Bing. Sproat got roughed up a bit.

Recent top pick Voit isn't off to the fastest start with the bat as he transitions to pro ball, but 9 SB is impressive for the short amount of time he's been playing for St Lucie. Around 2 weeks?

Yeah and I think he only stole 15 for Michigan so he's been running.

I need a little break from them. Think I will make football my focus tonight while occasionally checking in on the Mets score. I think the 9 run inning and losing the series to a pieced together Braves team got me here. Ill come back fully tomorrow to watch McLean's debut.
