Sweeping any series is a big task. But 6-3 obviously locks it up. Need to see Sproat follow up Tong with the biggest game of his life.
For me, if Sproat can do it tonight. Having him, Tong, McLean, makes me feel so much betteret it done. Atlanta Braves just swept a 4 game series over the Nationals in D.C.
Get it done! Atlanta Braves just swept a 4 game series over the Nats. In DC. Get it done.

Only going to watch until Iowa-RU game broadcast starts. But of course I'll be tracking online and will tune in at the half.

This Mets team sure doesn’t look like they want to make the playoffs kicking around the ball all over the place behind a rookie pitcher. Disgraceful defense

Dbacks and Giants both lose. Now 3 and 4 games back in the loss column respectively with 8 to play.. On the other hand the Reds topped the Cubs again. They are definitely concern number 1. Need to win the next two over the Nats and hope the Cubs get at least 1 over them. That would leave us up 3 with 6 to play.

If any of the teams Cin/Az/SF were to win last night- Cin winning was our best option. So, yesterday was a huge success. If we can get a win today and 2-3 of those teams lose again...Then, I may finally feel like I can breath a little.

Now- I know too early but if we look at the pure business impact of having Lindor/soto/Alonso in the lineup just about every day. And the Met's have been a sell out for the first time in decades. I would have to say those contracts would pay for themselves and more for at least the next 4-5 years. And any player at those positions that could even remotely produce like any of them, are not available.

I do not want to lose Alonso. And it will also be a lot of fun and profits for the team on the 300/400/500 HR watch as he progresses.

Just saying.

BTW- did not get to watch the game- was Sproat just off or was it just some bad luck?

Siri missed a fly ball which was originally charged an error, but was changed. Would have meant only two earned runs instead of four.

Giants are done. Four games back with eight to play. Actually five games back since we have the tiebreaker.

Two games up on the Reds, three on the DBacks. Would like to pick up one more this weekend.

Other observations:

* Juan Soto is the best offensive player ever to wear a Mets uniform.

* Ryan Helsley seems to be working himself back into the circle of trust. Last night he pitched the 7th inning in a two run game. This could be huge going down the stretch.

* Tyrone Taylor has begun a rehab assignment for Syracuse. I assume he will stay the weekend there, at which point their season ends. Then we'll see.

Then we can release Siri?

Some tidbits from Tim Britton (Athletic, paywall).

1) Mets view McLean as their ace. They may move him up a day next week so he would be set to pitch a playoff Game 1.

2) Other than McLean, the playoff pitching is totally up in the air. All options on the table.

3) AAA reliever Dylan Ross would likely have been brought up except for a blister issue. He still may be, and is a possibility for the playoffs roster.

4) Senga will not be immediately activated. His next step is to pitch to live hitters again next week. Binghamton is in their playoff finals next week (Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday if necessary) and that is a possibility. His playoff activation is by no means a given.

5) Tylor Megill will likely undergo TJS, and it is a possibility for Reed Garrett as well.

What a sloppy mess. This is the time you're supposed to be dialing in for the playoff push. Alonso might be the worst thrower in baseball. I've never seen someone so often botch the short throw to the pitcher covering first. Fortunately McLean didn't get hurt reaching for this one while trying to find the bag. Easy way to turn an ankle.

How many times is Nimmo gonna fail in situations that call for less than even a hit. Mr. Strikeout.

Reds beat Cubs 6-3. Lead down to one game, which is actually one-half game since the Reds have the tiebreaker.

The term "must game" may be the most overused cliche in sports. But tomorrow comes close.

Entering a vote of no confidence. Could they still squeeze in? Sure. But I see no reason to think that they will go on this road trip and win at a better clip than what the Reds will be doing at home. Not when they have been so putrid on the road. And the Reds seem to be playing with house money because no one expected them to be in the position they're in.

Mets fans nightmare

Gary said Mets loaded lineup with lefties then followed up by saying ….Irvin is the worst starter vs lefties this season and has given most HR in all of mlb this year
