your post made me think of Ryan Duren and I expected to see a lot of WPs for a closer, but to my surprise only 38 in his 10 years .
Because I remembered his think glasses and announcers saying players were afraid of his fastball and wildness, I imagined a whole bunch over his career .
Hell I expected to see 38 in one season 😁
In my google search I found this:
>"Ryne could throw the heck out of the ball. He threw fear in some hitters. I remember he had several pair of glasses but it didn't seem like he saw good in any of them," Yankees Hall of Fame catcher Yogi Berra said Friday.<
As you know my dad was famous for talking to hitters, he’d tell them don’t get to comfortable, he don’t know where it’s going.
Between Elston and my dad, they blocked everything.
Duren had a great hits to innings pitch ratio

I'm a Yankees fan....for over 60 years. As a kid I watched Mantle and Maris chase Babe Ruth's home run record in 1961.
I always want them to win...badly. I rooted for Holmes. I watched every game he pitched for the Yankees. Last year he sucked. He blew at least a dozen games before they mercifully yanked him from the closer's role. He struggled to even get the ball over the plate. They gave him chance after chance...too many some would say. He had to go.
I'd like to say that I wish him luck, but he's on the Mets now. And I root for them to lose every game....since 1962.
BTW, imagine what the Yankees record would have been last season if he'd only blown a half a dozen of those games.

They could have won the AL East and AL Championship... oh wait.... 🤣

Serious question. Is anyone going down to Spring Training this year? I've made two attempts to get to Steinbrenner Field but both got rained out. The plus is I've made two visits to Cigar City Brewery which is walking distance from the ballpark. Great brewery, everyone there is awesome and I got to be a guest bartender on my first trip.
I'm looking at a crazy trip I might pull the trigger on. Two games. Two stadiums 30 hours in Tampa. One night. Obviously a stop (or two) again at Cigar City!

Oh, BTW Joey Gallo is still trying to cash a check. Signed with the White Sox minor league team. Has never made a big contract, total just under $40mill total career. Sounds low but he shouldn't be willing to get paid peanuts playing for the worst team in baseball.

If I'm mgmt, I determine the worst team in MLB, pay the entire salary, and ship Stroman to that team.

He wouldn't be in this situation if he presented the approach that he cares for anyone but himself.

Screw him.

Let's wait after spring training and make sure everyone comes out healthy first.

It was well known that Stroman was difficult before the Yankees signed him. They were desperate and now reap the consequences.

Not that I like Stroman, I think he's a douche and a me first player.

Reports are that Stanton is already hurt....elbows.
Perhaps we should start a pool as to how many games he plays this season.

Got hurt trying to score from 3rd base when Volpe doubled to CF.
Seriously I imagine it was overdoing weight lifting again! Judge cuts back a few years ago and hit 62 home runs. He simply does this to look good.

Without him in the line-up, the team batting average should go up 20 points ; )

One of the most incredible things I saw last season was Stanton stealing second base.
Even now I have trouble believing what I actually saw.

I believe that's called "fielders indifference".😄
I saw the play. Believe it or not he wasn't successful due to indifference.
I think it was mostly the surprise factor, plus he was hauling *** as much as he's capable nowadays.

BTW, the Yankees extended Boone's contract for two more years.
I guess it's a reward for winning the AL pennant and finishing second to the Dodgers.

You almost have to extend. He was a lame duck coach who just won the American League Championship

Yankees top pitching prospect Chase Hampton has Tommy John surgery. One injury after another for this guy.
