And guess what I've interacted with government officials from governers to senators and in between. I've also interacted in my consulting business with dumb bureaucrats, judges, and somereal policy makers. SO WHAT! Does it count that I had interactions with the Bidens ???

You're a typical agenda driven mutt. Tell us about easy pass all you want and ignore my point about people leaving mid town to work from home. And your comment about weed shops and why they exist and can't be closed down shows you are in dream world. I'm done responding to you it's not worth the time arguing with zealots.

Same around where I live. The number of PA plates in the city is astounding and I'm not sure how to explain that. Same with temporary plates. I'll go out on a limb here and guess that the vast majority are fake. I read somewhere the NYPD is starting to enforce that - hope it's true.

Not out of state, but there were drivers around NY, particularly NYC, who were driving around with their plates covered. They're getting pulled over. If you pull over for out of state plates you'd run into harassment issues because there are people who are legit out of staters who just happen to be in NY.

If your driving around with plates covered you are in violation of the laws. In NY you're not allowed to even have the words New York covered by the frame.

Bring a gas mask with you, unless you enjoy a contact high. Place is disgusting.
On that note- I was in the city last week- besides the Canada fires- most pleasant trip into the city in a long time.
Penn Station was 95% passengers- very little homeless. Walked to Union Square and then up to Kips Bay and No overwhelming smell of ganja and no one bothering me.,,

The marijuana smell thing is fake news. I don’t notice it any more than it always have been.

You smell it in every city. Ironically, the 2 cities I’ve smelled weed the most are in 2 states where it’s illegal - Miami and Nashville

Not sure Marijuana smell is even worth arguing about. I don't particularly like it, but so long as it's not filling the room, it's not much different than the omnipresence of tobacco smoke smell decades ago ...and better than old, reliable, universal piss.

For as long as I can remember people tried to register their cars in PA for lower insurance. They may have some relative there, or a Poconos property or something they use for it.

But it is worth arguing for people who claim they're all about freedom, but just not the freedom of everyone else.

I'm sure that's some of it. Many of the PA cars I see around midtown don't strike me as second homeowners but there could be a lot of reasons and what do I know.

See a decent number of North Carolina plates in NJ. And it is the cost of insurance.

If you think it's only about reducing volume and nothing to due with $ you're proven yourself to be one sided / indoctrinated . Even the MTA says it needs the congestion "taxes" to updawin or get the te and support public transportation systems.
Don't bother, he's an expert on all topics, you'll never win or get the last word.

Even though I did not smell it as much the last couple of times in the city - it is far from fake news. It is still there but if you went back just a couple of months- it was overwhelming.

Getting the last word is usually tough but as for being an expert on all topics- he kind of is...Even if I don't agree all the time...and he gets even smarter after a 2nd shot...

Congestion pricing isn't about revenue, it's 100% about reducing volume. During Covid it was easier to drive into lower Manhattan than to take public transportation because nobody was on the roads. As things have normalized, public transportation ridership remains ~40% below pre-pandemic levels while surface street traffic is up.
When they say it not about the money, it's about the money!!

Easy there, Foster Brooks.

Ever stop to think that eliminating congestion is the real payoff?
If people like sitting in traffic when it's faster to walk, let them! Stupid people do stupid things. Unfortunately there are no laws for being stupid. Otherwise you might be broke! Even you admit this is money issue! I'm not part of the problem. I either ride to the Staten Island Ferry or take NJ Transit. Turned 62 in April. The train, which allows me to to take my bike is $14.80 round trip for "seniors". I ride faster than any mode of transportation in the city! The Ferry is free and parking is $8 a day and free on Sunday. I don't have deal with NYC congestion. Smarten up. There are better solutions!

Because nobody wants to utilize crime infested mass transit in NYC.

Some in Congress are talking about changing the rules regarding state taxation of remote work. If that were ever to pass congestion pricing would certainly eliminate congestion. But NYS would go broke. They did it about 30 years ago with distributions from qualified pension distributions that NY used to hiit retirees with when they moved to Florida

While I fully agree with congestion pricing in principle - your thoughts on 4 of the 7 proposals charging NJT Buses entering PABT the same as any other POV, and only 1 of the proposals fully exempting outside agency mass transit vehicles?

Obviously this is something that has the potential to be worked out, and maybe it already has and I haven't seen - but the MTA, being the gluttonous 6 headed monster of an agency that it is, seems to only have their own self-interest in mind.

Oh well... Here's to another year of hoping and wishing for a "dedicated funding stream".

NJT Buses to PABT? That would only hit NJ voters. They'll probably charge double and raise NJT ticket prices. Maybe even 1 fee per seat, whether occupied or not. Get ready for $30 NJT bus fares for Bergen County to PABT.

This thread. 🤣

I hope they raise tolls even higher. Triple, quadruple, whatever it takes to get everyone to stop using the roads and bridges. Y'all are in my way and slowing me down. Seriously. I will happily pay whatever it takes to have emptier and better roads and bridges.

So yeah, everybody please GTF off the road(1). Thank-you for your cooperation.

(1) This does not apply to @MrsScrew. She's awesome. And she's just trying to help her mom out FFS. So she can keep using the roads and bridges and shouldn't have to pay so much in tolls to do so.
