Turner just bailed out Topper for his failure to pinch hit Marsh for Rojas in the 4th.
The lead is now 4 over the Giants and 4.5 over the Cubs due to head and head.
The hope here is to be 6,7 up with two weeks to go so Hoskins can get ready.

Hoskins looked good today during the broadcast.

Terryn Hatcher played RFL ball girl for two innings. Alas, she had no chances.

Was at the game last night. Not a full house but pretty close. Some energy in the stadium most the night, especially after Harper HR in the first. When Stott was HBP in the 9th the place came alive. When Turner got the walk off hit, if there was a roof on CBP it would have been blown off. That building was loud!

Cool game to be at last night.

I was at Monday night's game, sitting in the last row of the HOF club, right in front of Scott Franzke's call.
Just as it is in Citi Field, the broadcast signal is about 15-20 seconds behind the action.
One sobering thought:In order to again reach the Series, the Phillies will likely have to beat both the Braves and the Dodgers.

I had to exhume this thread.
Things are looking very good for the Phillies.
They're up by 4 games in the loss column over the Cubs, which becomes 5 because of the tiebreaker.
Projections are that they'll clinch the #1 spot on Sept.24,giving them a week to rest and set up the rotation.
A win in the WC round-all games at home-,sets up another NLDS vs the Braves.

Now back to the Colorado-Colorado St. game.

How on earth does anyone beat Atlanta in a series? They are clearly the class of major league baseball this season.

Rutgers mention tonight with Eric Young coaching 1b. Someone hit a line drive down the line, EY dove out of the way and McCarthy says something like "EY looking good over there, must have some extra energy because his Rutgers is 3-0."

McCarthy already broadcast(ed?) at least one of the RU games this year.

Today's game should have wrapped it up with the number for clincher for the #1 WC being 7,possibly dropping to 6 with a loss by any other of the three realistic teams comprising of the Cubs,Marlins, and Diamondbacks. The Reds can still make it,but their number is 3.
I don't foresee another 1964.

Big win. Great throw by Casty in the 9th. We need a different guy closing.

Yesterday’s win was huge in more ways than one. #1….one game closer to locking up a wild card spot, including the #1 wild card seed …… but just as important, we won the season series against the Braves… we are the one team that they don’t want any part of.

Phils have been doing too much tinkering with the lineup down the stretch. Also still trying to mix and match in different bullpen spots. Time to stop tinkering and make decisions as to who’s gonna slot where. Play it that way through these last 9 games and into the playoffs.

Schwarber DH
Turner SS
Harper 1B
Bohm 3B
Castellanos RF
Stott 2B
Realmuto C
Marsh LF
Rojas CF

Soto/Dominguez/Hoffmann 6th/7th
Alvarado 8th
Kimbrel 9th

Yes the bullpen has question marks, but if it hasn’t been figured out in 153 games, it is what it is.

Move Kimbrel to 7th. Hoffman to 8th. Alvarado to close. And no one owns closer.

Kimbrel has been terrible.

Coming out at the All Star break the Phils were a 1/2 game back of the last wild card berth and 3 1/2 games behind the Marlins for the top spot. Then they take 3 of 4 from the the Padres and they never looked back! Winning the top wild card spot with 5 games remaining. Incredible! Red October part 2!

The Wild Card round games at the Bank will likely be all at night as the rest of the teams aren't big market movers.

I think our O is as good if not better than last year.

The D is definitely better.

I’m concerned about our pitching, both starters and the bullpen.

I also think the road to the WS will be tougher this season than last. I don’t see the Dodgers being knocked out on the NLDS which will mean we have to beat both ATL and LAD to win the pennant.

How does Angel Hernandez still have a job?

But atleast this kid got the story of his life out of it:

How can a guy as bad at something as Angel Hernandez continue to work at a job that is so public? Doesn't he have any shame? And how can mlb keep this guy employed?

I’m a Mets Fan but #FreeBryceHarper!!! You know Manfred is going to blast him with a big fine for talking about the umpire. Which is even more messed up since Harper was calm when talking about it instead of going ape 💩 like 80% of the players would have.

Angel Hernandez, CB Bucknor, Laz Diaz are the worst things in baseball since steroids, cocaine and Black Sox. They should be seriously investigated by the feds for gambling because no one is that bad at their jobs unless they’re getting more under the table.

As predicted here last week, the Phillies were selected as the featured team and will play the first round at night.
Should they advance as expected, the same can be expected for the Braves' series, especially if Houston is already gone as Dodgers vs AZ or Mil doesn't get the juices flowing for most.

Statistics say small ball dies in the playoffs. The 2 most important things are power/home runs and bullpen. Phils in 2.

Marlins in 3. Then they'll sell off, rebuild and be back again in a couple of years. Amazing what some organizations are capable of doing. Scouting, scouting scouting!
