"Colorado Buffaloes Football Travis Gray, son of Lamarr Gray, an outside linebacker on the 1990 national championship team, revealed how blunt Deion Sanders was when he cut him/

“He told me, ‘You’re 6-foot-8, 320 pounds. I know in my heart of hearts a school is going to pick you up in the portal when you enter. Make your weaknesses your strengths and keep progressing. I hope you have a great future, it just won’t be here at the University of Colorado.’”

Goooch is my dude—Lamarr "Gooch" Gray, from Pomona, Ca.

My boy Darian Hagan took one on the chin from Prime. He is Mr. Colorado, and Prime tossed him aside.

Man, Deion is pouring gasoline all over the place and burning that sucker to the ground. This will be epic one way or the other.

I'm going to start calling him Coach Fleet lol

How that? I read Prime kept him but in a non coaching role?
Maybe a better job?
A guy who, has been around as much as Prime will have his own people he meshes with

Prime has moved Hagan to Executive Director, Community Engagement & Outreach/FB Ambassador. He's a paper pusher now. Hagan, and Supreme Court Justice Byron "Whizzard" White, are considered the best CU players ever. It's a significant change for a guy who has been a coach for the last 12 years.

I read he's been at Colorado since 2005.
Most position coaches move around a lot
I also read that bewteen 2011–2012 and 2013–2015, he was Director of player personnel and Director of player development so he's worked from an office before.

The new RB coach - Gary “Flea” Harrell - was with Prime at Jackson St for 2 years.
I imagine Prime felt some obligation to the guys he brought in and then left so quick

I hear you, but those positions meant he was still involved with the team. This current position is a rah-rah position with no real connection to the team other than organizing the team to visit a sick Johnny.

After all those years in one place, maybe he has a house and kids in school etc.
He might be glade to still "be in the mix" as Schiano likes to say

His kids are grown, and he's a LA guy who still complains about the snow in Colorado. 🤣
I think he feels disconnected from the program after being part of it in some form for over 30 years. I think he may be struggling with that fact.

Sounds like he got what the Japanese "salary men" call a "window seat".

Had no idea about Byron White. That's cool.

White finished 2nd for the Heisman in 1937, and Hagan finished 4th in 1989.
Nobody can predict for sure. But as a former player, do you think Prime's method will result in a bowl game or better in year 1 or year 2? I'm.not confident what he did at his previous HC job will translate.at P5.

People are surprised by what Prime is doing, but I feel this will be more the norm in the future. As for wins and losses, it's better to look at year 2 to see if his approach makes sense. I get what he's doing. The prior coach allowed players to do whatever they wanted, resulting in a 1-11 season. Prime is doing what most coaches would do, but he's upfront with it. Cure the disease before the infection spreads. Society as a whole can't handle tough love. During my freshman year, Coach Mac questioned my abilities as a QB. He said he would put me on a flight back to NJ. I was screwed in the head for a minute. Coach DiNardo, who recruited, said either sh*t or get off the pot, but don't make me look bad. Coach Mac then moved me to safety, and the rest is history. You're either built for this or not. The head coach's job status depends on 18-22 y/o young men stepping up to the challenge.

Looking at CU's schedule, 4/5 wins is possible. Also, most coaches experiment with concepts at the lower levels. It's the place where you prove yourself and your methods. Then you take that act up to the next level. Remember, the Pac-12 isn't on the same level of football as the B1G, the SEC, or even the Big 12. I see it working against a Cal, a Stanford, an Arizona State, or a Colorado State.

Will be interesting. I don't care how it works out for him either way- if it does, great for him, if not, not so great for him. I just wish some of our "fans" would stop drawing comparisons to RU's situation and using it to denigrate the job Greg is doing. Greg is not Coach Prime, nor is there anyone else quite like him in terms of style and approach. The stone throwers have been in here already, but let's be real about playing in the B1G East vs. playing in the PAC 12. The PAC 12 is no cakewalk, and Colorado has TCU and Nebraska to start the season. It will be interesting to see how they fare against USC, UCLA, Utah, and Oregon State- that's an example where it took 3 years of so-so results before the new coach got it rolling.

That said, there should be expectations that this year should show significant progress, as last year was rough.

My parents were sick (lung cancer). I lost them in the same year a few years later. Also, I had an incident with the townies. I couldn't take it anymore. As a young man, I felt my world was caving in. Go watch ESPN's 30 for 30 to gain some insight into how things were at CU during the last 80s thru the 90s.

So basically he doesn’t have a 6-8 year rebuild plan, hmmmm
C'mon man, Deion is a unique celebrity coach and we have no idea how he will do or even, if successful, that his Colorado team would win in the B1G EAST... or what he could have done at Rutgers.

So, please, just stop...

My gut feeling tells me this flames out spectacularly.
I think it all depends on the assistants. If Deion/Colorado gets him great assistants who can master the talent that Deion/NIL can bring in.. and if Deion will let them do their job and not alienate them... this can succeed. And that assumes that Deion is not some Xs and Os genius... which I am assuming merely because the most physically gifted players need not be. Heck, if they train to master that altitude they have a built-in advantage in every home game.

Ha, that one is unlike pretty much all the others, lol
Not sure how that or Manassas Park snuck in there. Arlington is a city with a county designation.

Government workers, contractors etc.
Overpaid and underworked - low stress
Living the life of quantitative easing and agency bloat
Assistants have assistants with assistants - like local school admins

Man, I hope a lot of those 13 scholarship players he's got staying are OL. Because right now he's only got 4.
