Renting a car in FL and they came up as the cheapest option by far, what's the catch?
Are they legit?
Anyone rent with them and have Good/Bad experiences?

TIA!

Haven’t used them yet but have heard good things from people that have. I don’t they are everywhere in the US as they are a European company. We rent a lot when we’re down in Sacramento and they don’t have a spot there but will likely use them next time we fly into an airport where they have a location.

I have rented from them in Florida and Hawaii and both times they were great experiences. I actually will now prefer them over Hertz(expensive but preferred for work) and Enterprise(my former go to)

No catch. Their office is offsite in Tampa, and you might have to wait in line for a while, though not too long, as the wait was reasonable, when I rented. Might be the same situation for other cities. Hertz #1 Club Gold has the best experience, though is more expensive.

Worst reviews out there of any car rental company, which has kept me from using them, despite the low prices. Doesn't mean everyone will get screwed, but enough have to keep me away.

Was hesitant to use them because of the bad reviews, but they were located next door to our hotel in Puerto Rico, so we gave them a shot. Easiest car rental I've ever done.

Take pictures of the car before you leave the lot. Sixt tried pinning some scratches on me but the time stamped pictures proved otherwise.
Same exact thing happened to me with them in Orlando but with a cracked windshield and a nail in the tire. This is great advice and take pictures of any damages since it'll have a time stamp for you to prove you're not at fault for previous damage.

For my tire situation, as soon as I drove away I noticed the tire pressure was low with the interior pressure reading. I took a picture of that which helped my case as they tried to blame me for the nail in one of the tires.

After that experience, I'll never rent from Sixt again.

I tried renting from them once. Made a rental on line, had confirmation number, confirmation email, etc. They wouldn’t give me the car because the price I contracted was too low, they said it was given to me in error. Rather than give them the satisfaction of still getting the rental, moved on to another car rental agency. I know I had a legal contract but I was just arriving for a vacation and it was a Sunday. Did not want to spend a lot of time just to prove a point.

Terrible. Used them in Indiana. Car broke down and they charged us for the tow truck. Offered no roadside assistance or ride to our destination. State police were gracious enough to help. Sixt recorded vehicle as "abandoned". Still fighting with them in the bill. Ridiculous.

I've rented from them around 10 times, never had an issue. Always been much better than Hertz, Enterprise, Budget, etc

Perhaps the issues are different depending on which office you rent from. I've done it in NYC Battery Park several times from when I used to live in NYC (they always gave me BMWs), Newark, SFO Airport, LAX Airport, Lisbon, Florence.

I used Sixt for a car rental in Portugal in May. Fairly easy process of getting the car. Service is equal to other non-premium rentals.

Unfortunately I put diesel in the rental car during my trip (gas pump handles are green and diesel handles are black in Portugal). I got charged $650 for getting the diesel out. My own mistake.

I’ve used Turo the last two times I needed a rental and I don’t think I’ll be going back to traditional renting at this point.

Used them in Fort Myers last summer and had no issues with them.

As with any car rental, walk around the car and note any issues prior to leaving the lot so they put it in the record.

They had a great price, but didn't have the vehicle we reserved PBI 2/11/23. Tried to give us a smaller vehicle. Used Avis this year which was perfect.

Worst rental experience ever for me in California. First, rental office was off site, second, had to wait an hour while they prepped the car, third, lots of damage on the car that they didn’t wash when they prepped it. Not worth the hundred bucks of savings. I love National because I can chose any car and I usually get a better car than I pay for…join the Emerald club for free…
