Special episode for @rutgersguy1 - Charts Coming Out The A$$!

Gotta love the technical analysts who are so committed to their craft that they don’t even know what the companies do (there was a joke in this podcast about such)!
Even a quick Fibonacci mention! Fibonacci of course was known for his way-ahead-of-his-time AI expertise…kinda.

One of his trades is precious metals and i thnk materials in general. Both doing well today
Started buying GLD futures on Coinbase. 19x leverage. So for about $140, you get exposed to the movement of a full oz of gold. Also thinking about GLD leaps calls via Fidelity.

JC had a bunch of good ideas.

Covers a bunch of stocks:

Trump to announce multibillion dollar investment in AI infrastructure
By Alfred Ng and Eugene Daniels

01/21/2025, 3:01pm ET

President Trump is expected to announce a multibillion dollar investment later today from private tech companies to develop artificial intelligence infrastructure in the United States.

Tech industry partners involved in the joint venture, called “Stargate,” include OpenAI, Softbank and Oracle, according to a White House official who was not authorized to speak on the record about the planned announcement.

AI development is a significant part of the Trump administration’s tech policy proposals, seeking to advance growth in not just the technology itself, but the data centers and energy capabilities it requires.

NFLX up over $100 after earning. I got lucky and brought it this morning but didn’t expect earning after close. I thought it was in two more days.

Strange day, techs up before open and then down after it opened and up during the close.

Ugh I knew NFLX was going to crush it but didn’t pull the trigger! It’s a monster and I’m not sure it has any real competition at this point. I will look to buy on a pullback.
+1
Definitely no real competition. Disney Plus et al are essentially side hustles for other large companies.

NFLX is a stock that I never got into. One of the stocks that I missed out on all the way up. I never could see how they would maintain a dominance in this industry.

Agree - I figured competitors would catch up. Create better content. Flood the content market. Nope - NFLX is King and it’s not even close.

They almost lost their stand up comedy hold to YouTube and direct to consumer. They got a little over the top in content moderation and a few comedians showed them they didn’t need them and went right to YouTube. It looks like they’ve backed off of that and are back on top there.

What??? No xAI!!! Can't believe Trump went with Elon's arch enemy.

"AI development is a significant part of the Trump administration’s tech policy proposals, seeking to advance growth in not just the technology itself, but the data centers and energy capabilities it requires."

The infrastucture is the main part needed and Elon would roll with that as a priority until more is ready.
CCP showed how great it is to get others to do the initial heavy lifting and then get out front.
Having joined the admin as Trump's tech brain, he couldn't make the deals himself but he's already "in the tent" as the camel says.

Unfortunately Trump is flirting with Warp Speed 2.0

"The tech executives said the joint investments couldn’t have happened without Trump, and highlighted the benefits of AI in health care. 'I believe that as this technology progresses, we will see diseases get cured at an unprecedented rate' Altman said."

That's how people get conned (healthcare and tech being the easiest of cons). Ellison said cancer cells are early to detect in the blood, and with AI they can be detected and vaccines developed to counter them. Trump thinks he saved 50 million people with Warp Speed. All the control freaks and big gov bullies love AI

Google for its part wants to save people from scammers so they will use AI in Android 15 to listen to calls to detect scams. Google doesn't give a rat's culo about people being scammed. Openly listening to people's calls and collating them (current AI is just pattern recognition) is the goal.

"Google has added scam call protection to its latest Android OS to protect you in multiple ways. It can deploy on-device AI to listen in to calls and flag when it suspects a scam — such as a supposed banking rep asking you to make a transaction."

Actually, they seem to be cutting back on the programming and expecting viewers to watch their productions from other countries like Mexico, Spain, Belgium and Korea. I don’t like it since the filming is not as professional but I do watch them since there not enough original production in English and better plots. With so few movies hitting the big screen, Netflix now controls the salaries of the big stars and has shown you don’t need a star for most of their production.

NFLX stock seldom pullback so I had to jump when it retreated.

Interesting way to get some bitcoin exposure with volatility protection in both directions.

Do these protected ETFs really work? Or should I say, work as advertised? I read a few articles over the past year that most equity protected ETFs fall very short on their promises.

Started a position in C today. Appears to be at a breakout level. Will look to add.

Added to RIVN as I continue to trade around a core position.

Need to get back into AVGO as well as CRWD.

Still have a fair amount of cash as I exited positions at the end of 2024.

I can’t tell if Rivian will ever be more than a trade. I like the product/brand but I can’t see EVs doing much under Trump notwithstanding Elon.
They have a great product and a following. At worst, they will be bought by somebody.

I am not a big fan of stop loss and use it sparingly. If I have to use it too often then I am going something wrong.

Then I assume you would also not use the Calamos Investments product that Chris referred to. I pointed out the stop loss as an alternative.

Yes, they do. Sell call and buy put. Not hard to replicate.

Happily holding AVGO and CRWD, looking to jump back into RIVN just to see what happens.

My GLD futures are blowing up. I think this one is going to be a long-term trade.

I bought a little more RIVN yesterday as well. Average cost is still around the $10 range. Would love them to get bought and I could be done with it

MSFT is the only ticker I follow closely and it seems as though a slow grind higher is expected…with all price targets in the 500+ range. Price has rallied the past two weeks in anticipation of earnings release but similar price action happened last quarter and the stock went back down in the days after the earnings release because it was a meh report for a Mag7. Cloud growth is now expected to increase for the March quarter but not for the Sep-Dec quarter which they report Wednesday. So at a 37 PE I think the “pop” has already happened since it doesn’t trade at obscene multiples. Dollar index weakening as it has recently should help the stock.
