MSFT defies Elon Musk and actually goes HIGHER than $420/share. Analyst price targets are mostly higher yet with $500/share a real possibility (ATH for MSFT is $468) so a slow slog upward is likely ahead with a few fits and starts mixed in for fun.
Interesting personal anecdote regarding the Search business…
I was recently attempting to come up with the word “iconoclast” as I was drawing a blank and even after a couple of quick attempts using my best Googling skills on Google it didn’t give me the word so I opened my CoPilot phone app and using similar prompts it immediately gave me the word that was on the tip of my tongue.
What were your prompts?

A couple recent Compound guests were going on about the effectiveness of various AI app's. Not any app in particular, just that AI in general was very useful in their profession.

Not true. Its up from last month and almost 20k more than predicted for this month. Indicative of a weakening economy. The only potential silver lining is the Fed may have to cut rates depending on the latest inflation numbers. If high, then the economy is in trouble.
Very true. Look at the chart. It's popped to that level a bunch of times over the past year and nothing happened. Was at 243k at the end of Feb. You get a relatively high reading every few months. Just a data thing.

There have been a half dozen 240ish reports in the past year. Worth keeping an eye on it, but not an alarming number at this point imo.

Interesting that NY claims increase accounted for more than the overall increase nationwide. Btw, anyone know if any other state allows teachers to collect unemployment when the schools go on holidays and summer break?

Jobless claims rise to highest level since October, but not from tariff war

New York state has big increase, which economists attribute to school holidays

Much of the gain seemed to come from one state — New York, where claims more than doubled to 30,043, according to unadjusted data.

+1
The increase just looks like a data dump from NY.

As someone who uses Google a ton at work and is known for his outstanding google-fu techniques, I feel like Google has completely bodged its search function/site. Sadly, Google (or should I just call it Alphabet) enshittifies all of its projects and apps over time. It should come as no surprise their search is going to the dogs too.

I've used Copilot at work to help me write some emails and have been pleased with its utility. I don't appreciate how intrusive the product is already, but I do find it somewhat useful when I reach for it.

Don’t remember exactly but it was funny that Google couldn’t come up with it even as part of the list of synonyms which it did provide. I’ve been Googling for a very long time but will be weaning myself off of it. I wouldn’t be shocked if in five years “Googling” will actually be referring to “AI-ing.”
And MSFT has a 49% stake in OpenAI I believe…so the monopoly-ish company not best in breed at anything except spreadsheets seems to have its best days ahead of it.

Google is behind but from what I’ve read/heard is building out infrastructure in a more meaningful way and is catching up model wise. I wouldn’t count them out just yet

Not counting them out but the proliferation of AI apps (not just MSFT and Open AI) certainly changes the outlook as far as their 90%+market share in Search…which is their “money printer” currently.
Personally, I really enjoy when Grok makes truthfully disparaging remarks about Elon when prompted properly.

Complete rando question out of left field….looking for feedback.

What high-yield savings account do y’all prefer for your uninvested cash? About to move some things around and looking for feedback/experiences with digital high-yield accounts.

RRDT blowing the F up in extended:

Reddit shares rocket 16% on strong sales and guidance

-----

Clean double beat for AMZN, but "light" guidance? Not sure about that.

Amazon beats on top and bottom line but issues light second quarter guidance
Rddt’s eps was .13 vs .02 expected. Clean beat in revs too.

Thing is up 30+% in a couple weeks.

We use CapitalOne online for our savings. Okay rate of 3.6%. We also have a ton of cash just sitting in our Fidelity brokerage account. Its default money market fund is still at 4.0%.

If this pump holds, it will become my biggest stock position. I addition to my custom basket, I hold RDDT, HOOD, and SHAK.....and SLB leap calls (which are not doing well!).

SLB’s chart is so bad.

Only bright spot is it near the low end on a downward sloping channel.

Next bounce and i am out.

Pharma analyst in fast money says you have to buy Lilly on todays pullback.

I think I will.

Edit: Its been stuck in the mud on the one year. This is near the low end.

SLB the stock is a total piece of crap, but the company is solid. I have Jan 2027 $40 calls so a long way to go. Down about 35%. Was once up about 80%. Not fun. I should probably get out or double my contracts. Leaning towards the latter for some dumbass reason. LOL!

Edit 40+%.

What a rip.
I doubled-down on RDDT when it got crushed last month…I’m probably close to even on it now and plan to hold.

Sold HOOD this week around $51 with small profit. Something told me to bail.

If companies start moving factories to the U.S. I’m thinking ROK could be an interesting play?

Also looking at asset managers that have gotten obliterated and have yet to rebound like KKR and Blackstone. They are still way down.

I've had LLY on my watchlist for a long time, but haven't pulled the trigger on it yet. Missed out on a few good dips. The only two pharma/HC stocks I have in my custom basket are:

- VRTX, which I really think is an emerging monster
- ISRG, currently in a buyable dip, down from a high of $616
