I kind of feel bad for McCord. He is a good player and someone I would have liked to root for but even with a weak schedule, that team is a mess. Plus add in the HC, OC and DC, have 1 year combined experience calling plays. That’s being generous too. Woof
Maybe they will just promote Nunzio to OC and let Kyle McCord run the single wing.

McCord found a program that needs him desperately, judging by the QB play against USF
Orange's regular starter Garrett Shrader was out with a shoulder injury and I believe used up all his eligibility .
McCord wouldn't be a shoe-in if Shrader returned next year, unless Brown promised him he would be the Orange's QB and wouldn't face competition for that role.

no QB would have been able to do anything with that O line

Imagine being McCord and watching that game...then realizing he's stuck in Syracuse for at least a year. Dude must be depressed right now. Should be an interesting Christmas in the McCord house...daddy gets coal I assume.

Really? No one put a gun to his head and made him leave a national title contender for a dumpster fire. I’m sure he had many options to pick from.

When you are playing Colgate, Holy Cross, UConn, Ohio of the MAC and the middle to bottom half of the ACC I guess you can throw freshmen offensive linemen out there and hope for the best. We play in a conference where programs like Iowa and Wisconsin won't let an OL or DL step on the field until they are at least red-shirt sophomores. There's a major difference.
Exactly… Why would any decent prospect want to play there with that type of schedule. What in the hell type of NIL opportunities is that going to generate??

Rutgers being in the area where we are have NY, Philadelphia and all of NJ for NIL opportunities and then our schedule alone will be more attractive for companies to want to do business with our players.

If I was company X I would want to us my NIL deal on a player at Rutgers that will be playing games against the national brands in the B1G and not the **** schedule above in the middle of nowhere!!!

Guy does crap like this, think he is bipolar and off his meds

That makes sense. He sure seemed to take my McCord comment personally.

Back to McCord, I thought from the first game of the season that he was OSU's weak link. Obviously Ryan Day agreed or he would still be there.

Hahaha Sarah getting absolutely roasted on social media lol
We should keep in mind that this season, USF:
Beat a bad Navy team 44-30
Lost to a bad UAB 56-36
Lost to a bad FAU 56-14
Barley beat UConn 24-21

Let that sink in. They put up 45 points on a P5 (marginal) team, when they could not put up half that number of points against FAU and UConn.

It's an interesting question for discussion. There were discussions along the lines of what would Gavin look like if he was inserted as Ohio States QB and how would McCord have done if he played for Rutgers this year. Fun for discussion, but tough to resolve. I'm good friends with a Syracuse alum, and we were texting back and forth today. He is more pessimistic about McCord's chances for success next year than this board. His words were "that guy is going to get killed behind the OL" next year.

I think he is better than Gavin, but just look at his options when he hit the portal. They weren't very good. Nobody willingly goes from starter at OSU to Syracuse.

In the eyes of fans: (1) The QBs on the bench are better than the starter and the coaches are boneheads or playing favorites (2) the QBs on other teams are better than the QB starting for our team.

The portal has been weird.
EJ Warner to Rice. Maybe he has reasons. Maybe they gave him a lot of NIL money.

Evan Simon with a thin resume got picked up right away. Meanwhile, my favorite Rutgers backup QB who has a solid 2 years of stats (2022 very good, 2023 not so great) and 5,000 yards passing in his career still has not found a landing spot.

thin resume? his hs sheet, which is used in evaluation with little college game film (but you know this being the big swinging dick you claim to be) is far better than Gav's

JHC so many on this board are just out of touch

No one will care about this bowl game in a few days. Fran just needs to collect wins on that schedule next yr, clean up recruiting in NJ - which likely will.. And he's off to a good start

Shrader isn’t good enough for Syracuse to fall apart in his absence worse than the Jets did after losing Aaron Rodgers.

There has to be more going on there.

Average? No. But I do expect to see a Matt Cassel style drop off (2008-2009) next season.

One could imagine that McCord did a lot of rationalization as to the current state of Syracuse football and what he can do there with Brown’s upgraded recruiting.

However, there had to be no rationalizing being on the sideline and first hand seeing the athletic ability of his new teammates compared to the type of athletes he was working with at OSU.
Nah, he wasn't looking at many new teammates in that game.

Stop it. Yes, you are going to replace 20-30 players on the team from the transfer portal lIke some on your board said. I see the C RATING for Fran Brown, basically what a rational sane person would give him. A position coach trying to be a head coach for the first time. One of your board poster even compared him to Dabo. lol

You idiots shouldn’t have been bragging about your team on this board. It only made us laugh harder. Syracuse might get lucky but only you only have a 10-30% chance of success.

who would that be? As far as I know, there is zilch coming in to help with that line or running game
Well, we just signed a guard that was on UGA'S 2 deep as a true freshman this season a couple of hours ago. Go check out his offer sheet. It's a start and there's plenty of time before Feb. And that's not counting 3 preseason projected starters that played a total of a game and a half thanks to Babers atrocious S&C program that will be back.

but that's not immediate and that is the problem
McCord isn't the most elusive guy and you have him for 1yr
the oline is bad, real bad and that should be priority number 1 but instead you went qb, wr

i think sarah is lucky to have the easiest schedule next year and even that is no guarantee

Signing day isn't here yet for one and the kid we got today should definitely be ready to compete in the spring. Again, we had to play with 2 starters on the O line since the second half of the second game this year. We had 3 season ending injuries to starters who are all expected back for the spring.
