It's a short walk to the rest of the park and they also offer shuttle. Is it just you and your spouse or kids as well? I have some friends who have gone recently and one thing to keep in mind, they have opened up the water park to cruise ships. As a result, it gets really packed and lines can be out of control.

Going to have to walk that much

How long of a hike is it from the cove main lobby to the casino and most restaurAnts..10-15 min?

I thought the Cove was worth the money (I didn't stay there FWIW).

Whole resort is insanely crowded. Its Disneyworld-esque. Not that it wasn't nice but I wouldn't go again.

With 3 kids in tow it was less than 10 min walk plus the shuttle runs often. If just the two of you the Cove is definitely the way to go. We used to go to Atlantis at least once a year(own timeshare there) but haven't been in the last three or four. Not sure if they've revamped the restaurants but Cove had a good Bobby Flay place.

At least 15 minutes to the casino and 20 to the marina. No kids allowed at Cain and individuals pools are only for hotel guests so they tend to be quieter then then the water park except for the pool by the Beach Tower which is all kids.

Big fan of Atlantis been there a handful of times. The Cove for just the two of you will be fine. I have also never had any issues at the Royal either. Keep an eye of for Hollywood , general see atleast one or two each trip. Last time was Shanon Elizabeth.

Enjoy the trip.

Do you have a walker
? I have no idea how you come up with this number. The Casino has a door that opens up to the Marina right at the deli, where did the 5 minutes go? Also, kids can stay at the cove and outside of one or two pools and Flays place nothing is off limit for kids. That being said, few kids stay at the cove bc it's more expensive and considered to be more for adults. Last time we were there my kids were in the Starbucks daily, ate lunch almost daily in that library bar, and we had on issue.if you can walk from the back of yellow to the stadium you can handle the cove.

Just realized it has been almost 10 years since we were there. I believe it was the year before the cove opened.

We had a blast there and would even go again without kids. What I learned while there though is that I would not do the meal plan again. Seemed like every night we were there, not once were all the restaurants open at the same time so it got so crowded that if you did not have a reservation way in advance, you could not explore all the options and pretty much got stuck at the buffet every night.
After a few screw-ups with our rooms, they gave us a huge upgrade for the last 4 nights, I believe they called them club rooms and gave us privileges up in a club room up near the arch. My understanding is that it is usually a $70 per room upgrade but you get breakfast, lunch, snacks, and a free happy hour period- it was like 2 hours or so. So we basically only had to worry about dinner. If we had gone that way from the start it would have saved a ton from the $70 adult/$40 kid per day for the meal plan.
Forgive me if my exact numbers are off a couple of $ but if I go again and they still have the club upgrade...I do it in a second.

Do you somehow teleport from one end of the casino to the other? 5 min to walk from the big chair (closest point to the cove) to the marina. You said 10 - 15 minutes so that's a total of 20 on the higher end of your estimate.

The Baha Mar is supposed to open up soon, which may rival Atlantis. It has 3-4 luxury hotels and a Hyatt within the resort.

We were at Atlantis on a cruise stop in 2013. There were many ships there that day and the thanksgiving basketball tourney made for an extremely crowded place.

Was in Nassau on a cruise ship 2 weeks ago. With 4 ships in port, it gets pretty crowded there. Didn't bother going to Atlantis since I understand it's expenesive and very crowded with the ships in port.

Since you are just going for a quick trip with the Mrs, I would look into All-Inclusives in Montego Bay (like Hyatt's new adult Hyatt Zilara).

http://rosehall.zilara.hyatt.com/en/hotel/home.html

Hyatt has finally entered the all-inclusive game...as its usually a notch or two above the older Sandal like competitors.

This New Hyatt Zilara was built next to the Hyatt Ziva, which was the former Ritz Carlton...but Hyatt spent over $80 Million in upgrades.

And with this (or most of the private all-inclusives in Montego Bay area), you don't have to worry about cruise ships flooding your resort.

These Hyatt's are located about 10-15 mins from Montego Bay's Airport...with free airport arrival club and transportation for all Hyatt guests so it makes getting to/from airport a breeze.

i have stayed at the cove with little ones. i thought it was great . there is an adult only pool with a bar close by. the walk in pool right behing the cove is great for kids. pool and patio restaurant for lunch/drinks are very easy to use. i also bought food at the store in the lobby and made our breakfast/snacks for the week. it will save you about $100.00 per day for 4 people. the only real knock i have on the cove is the most accessable beach is a bit rocky.

I would not recommend Atlantis, the Disney World comparison is accurate.
It was so crowded it lost all of its exotic vibe, just way too commercial.

It was a little weird eating in restaurants that can be found on any street in NY(had both diner food and Texas barbeque) while there.

I would recommend an all inclusive in Turks and Caicos, Punta Cana, etc.
