But you didn’t mind Doctors denying life saving surgeries or treatment to people who weren’t vaccinated for Covid which has now been proven not to be that great of a vaccine.

What are Covid rates currently?

Also, it's illegal for a doctor to deny care to someone based upon infectious disease status. There also have been no laws passed to allow doctors to do this. Stop with the whataboutism.

So many of the laws being passed in this country targeting certain individuals is absolutely disgusting, and if you don't think so then you are part of the problem.

If you're talking about people who were trying to get organ transplants but would not take the covid vaccine than yea. When you get an organ transplant you're signing up to be immunocompromised for the rest of your life. Since organs are limited and there's a huge waiting list, doctors and health officials are going to make sure the person who's getting the organ doesn't waste it. You have to take a plethora of vaccines before you're able to get an organ transplant and it's in your best interest that you continue to take available vaccines because of how weak your immune system will be while taking immunosuppressants.

Facts don't matter. It's too complicated for many to understand. Thanks for adding this.

Look AppVol he threw out some nonsense, and got called out with facts and law. I'm sorry that's too difficult to understand. Not everything is a conspiracy, and I'm not sure why y'all have let Joe Rogan, Tucker Carlson, Donald Trump and whoever else convince you it is and that some boogeyman is out to get you.

And as I said, if someone calling out polticians that claim to be Christian out for something hateful, makes you angry, then you are ok with the behavior. Let gay or a Hindu Doctor refuses service to a dying Christian patient in Florida or any other state that ends up passing a similar bill and see the outrage that occurs. But you know what, that won't happen, because the same people folks hate, are some of the best people and contributiors to American society and will do their job, and treat people as they should be treated no matter how their villianized because that's what good people do.

I'd never discriminate against someone for their relgion and for sitting in a church pew shouting hallelujah on a Sunday. I would never advocate for legislation to allow someone to be discriminated against for anything. But I will not stand by and watch people be discriminated against or treated like they aren't humans, especially by a party that wants to thump their Bible. And if calling that behavior out makes you mad, then you are complicent in the process.

A bill gets passed that allows a doctor to let a patient die on the table because they don't agree with their lifestyle, and I'm accused of talking out of both sides of my mouth.

BK and AppVol, I can disagree with you, I can get spun up over some of the things you say, but I'd never wish ill will on either of you, and will always be willing to talk, but come on guys, it's time to do better.

Jesus Christ do people know that there is more that unites us than divides us. As soon as we figure that out this thread can die. I have 3 really close friends. One is the HC from East Forsyth , one was the HC at RJ Renyolds from 2001-2010, one was the HC at Grimsley and Providence grove. Two of my close friends are from North Carolina and one is from Wisconsin and I am from Pennsylvania. We are all very much alike and one of my friends that is from NC always says this. " We are all great friends but if this were 1865 we would be trying to kill each other". Now if that is not the truth I do not know what is. We are more connected than we think. We have more in common than we think. So guys please stop dividing us , that's the politicians jobs.

I did wrestle and we were OK. PA is a very very good wrestling state. My first football coaching job was at Waynesburg High school, south of Pittsburgh and they are crazy good at Wrestling.

When we went and visited Grove City we drove by Pittsburgh. I want to go watch the PA state championship in wrestling one day.

Monitoring and reading this thread has proven to be some of the most disheartening and disappointing moments experienced here during my 20+ years of participation on this site. The mere fact that "WE" have allowed the political division perpetuated and thrust upon us by the "ruling class" to trickle-down, infiltrate, and adulterate this forum is sad testimony to devolution into such a weak, hyper-defensive (emotional) nature - fully facilitated by our governmental officials; designed to condition our society into a state of tribalism to hopefully tip the scale in "their" favor ... so that THEY can stay in power. In so doing, the success in raping our focus and stripping us of any ability to see - much less embrace - ALL that UNITES us is ultimately lost in a game uniquely designed to benefit NO ONE but THEM. While we sit here and (watch folks) bicker of political talking points and the elemental means of total distraction, we literally abandon what this site - and others like or similar to it - are all about. By default - because of the youth who come here as well, we drag them into the same BULL$#!T; inadvertently perpetuating the work being done to DIVIDE us all. Since when did WE - as educated, mature Humans who (for the most part) live, breathe, and WORK to ensure, and see young men learn how to be(come) True MEN (through the game of HS Football) slip into such as debilitating state of partisan hackery and WEAKNESS?
God help us ALL. For it is truly shameful. And IF any of this offends you, well then ... I'm "talking" directly to YOU!

This country has a mental health problem disguised as a gun problem and a tyranny problem disguised as a security problem.
And why is it that when I'm on social media, I never see Part #1 but always see the "it's about to be the cops fault" part with overpopulated Iphones and everyone yelling and acting like Animals as part of an intimidating act?

Had breakfast this morning with three state legislators, all from the majority party. They know that we disagree on some major issues, especially education. So we didn’t talk much about those.
One of them, who is a good friend for forty years, asked if there was anything he could do for me. I said only to stay the hell out of youth and high school sports. No meddling in high school athletics, no laws on trophies, etc.. He laughed and said yes, those are a few of many things we need to stay the hell out of. He’s a good man and he means it. Unfortunately, when the time comes to vote, he’ll likely vote how the party leaders tell him to. Sad state what partisan politics has become.

You didn’t tell him to keep boys out of girls sports. You had your chance.

Are you really ok with a male saying he is a girl competing against girls in sports. It’s a simple question. There is nothing political about it. When you make choices in life there are consequences. So if that’s the life you choose to live there may be things you don’t get to do. In NC you have already had a female athlete get hurt from a boy playing on a girls team in Volleyball.

I don't think he responded to your question.
He's to worried about someone getting a trophy while a man gets a womans scholarship.

OC is a good poster. I asked Thunder and he never responded. I will say one of the NC Republican made a fool of himself questioning the Democrat about when he went to Harvard last week.

Thanks Appvol. For what it’s worth, I already chimed in on that issue. But I do believe that it was part of a shell game to deflect from other parts of several bills regarding high school sports. Both parties play that game where you cram a bunch of stuff into a bill, give it some patriotic sounding name, and let legislators explain to their base why they voted for or against it, based on which part they want to emphasize.

The Democrats would do it too. But right now, it’s only the Republicans who matter in North Carolina. That will change. It always does eventually. Parties get too far to the right or left, voters get fed up and the pendulum swings. The wild card may be that unaffiliated voters now outnumber either party.

How did she vote against a State Budget Bill when she works In Washington DC.Did the United State House of Representatives vote on a bill giving funding to North Wilkesboro Speedway.

She voted against the American Rescue Fund which provided the funds the state allocated to the speedways. No Rescue Fund, no racing this past weekend.

oc, where do most of the Democrat legislatures you know stand on the transgender woman sports participation?

I know both sides use pork politics to get bills through or to cover up items that they know are questionable. I would like to see the transgender bill put on a bill completely alone for a vote. I am sure there would be major fighting over wording and intent. Politicians that did not care would vote a certain way to get an item they or their constituents needed. It is all a shell game.

I am and always have been pretty middle of the road but this is an issue I think is absolutely ridiculous, no transgender in women sports.

Frankly I don’t know many Democrat legislators very well. Guilford a few. But Davidson is all Republican. A Democratic house member from Guilford County was, at one time, employed by Thomasville City Schools. As an unaffiliated voter, I’d like to have more local choices, but it’s a one trick pony. Gerrymandering will only make it more so.

So veteran teachers getting a $250 year raise. Wtf

The Republicans convincing Cothren to switch parties was the final straw to the full takedown of public education. I hope people wake up next election. The schools we love are about to change as we know them. Right now there are over 5,000 job openings in NC schools across the state and nothing is being done to address the shortage, yet only make it worse while Phil Berger is afraid addressing the shortage will create labor shortages elsewhere. What a pathetic excuse.

Doing a good job of reading the liberal media talking points. At least Cooper kids got to go to Private School. I see you had to edit your post after you read some news article.

$250 raise over 2 years for veteran teachers. $250. 5000 job openings. Of course you probably don't believe that.

But keep sharing Fox News and articles from a conservative think tank. I watched the presser. I don't need my favorite news source to tell me what to be mad about.

I've also read the bills being filed and pushed.

There is no credibility in sharing Fox News articles and there are court documents that support that.

Honestly, this is all just the normal song and dance. The proposed raises are out there and anyone can read about them for themselves. This Senate proposal will still have to go to a conference committee to resolve the differences between it and the House version. But this is essentially what we have now:

Cooper: "I'm going to give you the moon and the stars, all your dreams will come true."

The House: "We are proposing a nice 7.5% raise over the next two years."

The Senate: "You'll get nothing and like it!"

When everything is all said and done NC teachers will get another moderate raise and everyone will forget all about how this whole process unfolded until it's time to get mad about it again when the next budget comes.

Now related to tax cuts. Drastic cuts will result in budget cuts, and local governments will have to help pick up the slack by raising property rates.

I support a 0 income tax and a higher sales tax with some special taxes, but that makes too much sense.
